Yeah his voice sounds so good there. Also that line is mutually intelligible with the english version and a strong reminder of English's germanic roots.
What's funny is I actually gained a huge advantage on learning German by learning all their songs and the translations as a teenager. Im currently learning German and it's going smooth because I k own how to pronounce everything.
One of my favorites! Fun Fact my fellow Rammstein heads, if you didn't know... A professional fighter asked Rammstein if they would write a song for him personally to use on his entrance music to his next big fight and this song was what they made for him!🔥🔥 Crazy part is the guy bailed out for whatever reason and didn't even want to use it. It was such a banger though they decided to release it to all of us and I'm glad they did 🤘
If you’re here because of TikTok….welcome, this song and the album Mutter are really great and it’s only natural to want to look up the lyrics to gain a greater appreciation for it beyond the sound 😊. Just also be aware that Rammstein’s music is pretty vast and not all of them are *exactly* like this
do you have any songs by them you’d recommend with the same sort of harsh, operatic feel? rly love how this song balances sounding soft and heavy simultaneously lol
@@nosferatuwu1530 Mein herz brennt and title track from Mutter, Ohne dich is also pretty similar. The latest album Zeit might also be up your alley, especially Armee der Triste and Meine Tränen
Y’know the crazy part is that the song was originally made to be entrance music for an Ukrainian kickboxer and that guy is now in the unenviable position of mayor of Kyiv. Dude really is a badass in multiple ways, isn’t he?
I could be wrong but I think it's Vladimir Klitschko the song was written for ( foolishly turned it down ),and the older brother Vitaly is the mayor of Kiev. Both all-time great heavyweight champions.
In 2002 I was a freshman in high school and I would bring my headphones to school and listen to this entire album while I worked in the darkroom in the photo lab. All the older jock types thought I was weird and gave me a hard time but then they listened to it too and they had a little respect. The difference is I'm still rocking out to this shit over 20 years later.
@@threedotwill9851 People don't type stuff which are easily expressed by a simple like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 138 people probably also got chills from that part of the song and/or it's their favourite part.
Eins, Zwei, Drei, Vier, Fuenf, sechs, sieben, acht, neun, zehn, elf, zwoelf, dreizehn, vierzehn, fuenfzehn, sechzehn, siebzehn, achtzehn, neunzehn, zwanzig, einundzwanzig (continue on this pattern for 20-29) Dreizig, Vierzig etc. Also, I'm not sure how to do the special characters for the umlaut, which is why I substituted the ue.
Honestly i feel like this is a song that can have multiple meanings but to me i feel like he is talking about the doomsday clock and nuclear destruction for example "here comes the sun" "the brightest star of all", and "it will never fall from the sky"
@@schloany4479 but it is like that, it was written for a Boxer's Entry, but he didn't like it, in my opinion, bad decision, but Rammstein used it anyways. With this information, the lyrics match better with the concept of THE STAR or The Sun, as it was written for a professional boxer to impose respect.
@@ZashikiCatalinaRoncancio Yeah unsurprisingly I actually went through a phase of mega fanboying over rammstein so I know the meaning and lyrics of half their discography.
@@schloany4479 so do you agree or disagree that this is a fighter's intro song? I personally thought it was much deeper than that, but it would be a bad ass song to come out to 👊💪
2:48 - 4:30 is literally the best part of the song, I'm in love, it brings me this happiness I don't know exactly how to explain, it's kinda like I feel free to the point where I am falling with a steady breeze, and the smell of a forest freshly after it rained
I was inspired by this song to write a comic based around a German superman-like hero during WWII and his eventual redemption. His name was Sonnenrad, and he had a team of three other supes Blitzkrieger, Kriegsmariner, and Panzersoldat. Kriegsmariner, Panzersoldat, and Sonnenrad were products of the Lebensborn Program and we're put through supersoldier experimentation. Blitzkrieger was actually a Jew in Dachau when he discovered his powers. An SS officer forced him and another inmate to race and Blitzkrieger obviously won. He, being a psychopath and only caring about himself, volunteers to enter the supersoldier program and becomes a supersoldier. The other three do eventually get sort of redemptions in a way, but also kind of not really. Except for Kriegsmariner because he died. Sonnenrad, Panzersoldat, and Blitzkrieger's stories were meant to be the tale of three men and their redemption, obsession, and destruction. In that order. I'll make a video on it one day, maybe.
A guy recently said to me that Rammstein is a bad band, that this isn’t music, and someone should throw up when they hear it. What a prick. Made me so mad... I love this band, and have done for years. I can confidently say they are my favorite band and I love what they do with a passion
@@LionmaneElsie08 Dont worry there are old bastards with good musical taste too :D I've always like them but actually slow to realise it and do anything about it, going to buy their albums and would love to see their next tour in Coventry but I think its sold out ......this is probably the best song ever from them for me, its kind of soulful actually
This song is about Vladimir Klitschko, heavyweight boxing champion of the world at the time. A former opponent said that Vlad hit him so hard he “saw the sun” But music is subjective so we can all interpret it however we feel, and even our own interpretations can change
Vladimir Klitschko, heavy weight champ of the world at the time. I think the story goes that a former opponent said Vlad hit him so hard he “saw the sun”.
Fucking awesome lyrics. All this album was like that. They really cut deep even when you have no clue what they're talking about. Like here: maybe a literal supernova or black hole? A tyrant that people love until he/she kills everyone? Idk.
I think they are reffering to a nuclear war. They describe ten nukes like they are suns which a nuke can outshine for a few seconds. Of the ten nukes one is the brightest or most powerful, another never hits the ground and or is taken out by anti ballistic missile defense, And some hit the ground at the same time. They also describe being knocked down by its blast, seeing threw your hands due to the immense light. Aling withmany other things.
@@bigdawg2246 In reality it is more simple - this song is about boxing. :) It was written as an entrance theme for the famous boxer (and now politician) Vitali Klitschko. But he rejected it, so they put it on the album. But your interpretation is also valid. That's one of the reasons why I love this band: their lyrics are often ambigous and offer many different possible interpretations.
@@germany_cat.Yes and no. It's a reference. The Beatles has a song called "here comes the sun" while in this song there is the lyrics "here comes the sun"
This song sounds like a bombing kinda like how it says the sun isn't setting because bombs have bright explosions. Also the way he says the people count up is even more convincing.and he says to be afraid along with him saying everyone is waiting for the bomb to drop and how it burns his skin and melts on his face.
Interesting to learn "sie ist" can be used for "it is" as opposed to "es ist". Been mainly learning German through Duolingo, so "es ist" has been drilled into my head, whereas "sie" is usually "they" or "she".
It's because the sun is feminine in German. Actually, everything has a gender in the grammar, so "es" for it, is rarely used as it changes based on what object is described. Doh, it's confusing
Our galaxy solar star has a name, the sun and even more so specific in astronomic science and so amazing that there are other solar stars in the universe that our galaxy solar star is near invisible to the naked eye in comparison on a chart of size. So massive it makes me realise our world is being warmed by another solar systems solar star, along with others. Then there are limits that are not the limits of the universe, it's just what has been discovered in outter galaxies.
Lucky you unfortunately I discovered this band late into my adult so right now I have allot of catching up to do this was one of the first songs I ever heard from them, stumbled on this by mistake but absolutely love it.
@@christulsie3853 ...i would say it was more musical taste I like alot of raw guitar and good bass...but like nin I also enjoy good yet off sounding keyboard...
Its about Vladimir Klitschko, who was at the time the heavy weight boxing champion of the world. I think i read somewhere that one of his opponents said Vlad hit him so hard he “saw the sun” Rammstein were fans and wrote this song to be his entrance music for a fight
Thank you I have been learning German so it’s really nice to have a song that I love that I can practice the lyrics to and also knowing what the meaning of it is I just heard the song on a video and I was like wanting to listen to it and then I saw this and I was like what a nice way to make it purposeful instead of just entertainment But thank you. Also, the song is absolutely amazing.
Watching this, and (just my opinion) come to the realization that the German language isn't much different than the English language. Thank for the translation
I remember this song so long ago! My dad would play it along with many others I barely know. This gave me flashbacks lol. When music actually sounds amazing.
@SeizuretasticJacee yeah that mistake happens a lot, in fact thats how I remember the word for six. Sometimes my german teacher even mistakes our talking about number six for us talking about sex from across the room
I just found Rammstien. I mean I heard Du Hust back in the day but never anything other than that song. But I am moved by their music. Just awesome and amazing.
It's about boxing, it was originally made for a boxers theme but he didn't use it. Hence the counting to ten and losing balance, laying on the face etc.
Am I the only one who thinks this is about a war and an enemy is bombing their enemy? The ‘sun’ is the bomb, and the countdown is the time until the bomb hits the ground? The lines line up with the situation? Or do I only think that
Sadly almost everything we enjoy is evil. Most bands and artists are Illuminati. Wouldn’t doubt it if rammstein is as well. They did have a music video can’t remember which song which showed us panda eyes with children in cages. They do make great music but we must remember that Satan was in charge of music in heaven
I did read that when they were coming up with ideas for the music video one of the ideas that almost made it was the band piloting the Enola Gay over Hiroshima. Would have been really cool and made the song darker. Ended up with the Snow White drug addict though.
