Theoretically any pork recipe or condiment applys. You could do things wrong turn style by making sudo fried pork rinds or go with a more sophisticated sociopath take and have some liver and Lima beans. Personally I like my pork chops lightly breaded and baked so that would be my first choice as well as some vegetable high in fiber as apparently some digestive help would be in order.

When the Aztecs ate human flesh they served it with chili and tomato - so the ordinary tomato and chili are also the cannibal tomato and cannibal chili. As most people in the position to know say that human flesh is like pork I would think mint sauce would be the best one to go with it. I think the problem the Fijians had with human meat was reheating it every day for a week. That can't be good for you.

@@stumccabe Pardon the mistake, it is 40 years since I ate meat. Always had apple mint in the sauce, hence the confusion. the death by constipation part is actually the most fascinating to me. All the botanical details added here makes the whole story sound more genuine. Which is important as Victorian explorers very commonly made up wild stories with which to build a career when returning home. Also in terms of health, because there is no reason at all for human meat to cause the human digestive system to behave any differently compared to beef or pork. One would assume tribes living in Fiji hundreds of years ago would be eating a lot of plants already but their "extra vegetable tonic" to accompany human meat suggest that their usual diet was actually pretty low in vegetables. And that present day humans in the developed world eating a ton of meat while not sucumbing to fatal constipation, are probably eating more vegetables than they did.
@critterjon4061
@critterjon4061 Год назад
I can second this as when it comes to primitive hunter gather societies the vast majority of there diet was made up of carbohydrates with occasional protein and fruit mixed in with leafy vegetables only really being eaten if nothing else was available or to add flavor

Ketchup is the name of any fruit which is cooked with vinegar, sugar and spices then blended to smooth. Chutney is also the same but not blended, you can make ketchup and chutney out of basically any fruit. That's why bottles say 'Tomato Ketchup' and not just 'Ketchup', if it only says 'Ketchup' on the bottle I guess it could have any number of fruits in it.

@ben-chan420
@ben-chan420 4 года назад
@Cosmin Costea No? I'm saying that mushrooms do naturally have functions similar to plants. The best way I can think of explaining it is (and do correct me if this is the wrong term, I'm running off my flawed memory here) more so along the lines of convergent evolution, the whole thing about plants/animals/[insert organism here] being in completely separate but similar ecosystems where they evolve similarities in eachother to fill the same ecological niche. Obviously that's not wholly accurate in the case of mushrooms vs plants, but it's a good way of showing how wildly different species evolve to have similar qualities. Mold does have a species that I would say fall into trans-animal category. I'm pretty sure they're called yellow slime molds, and they form colonies that actively travel in search of food, ideal locations for growth, all that neat stuff. Check them out, hella cool little marvels of nature

I found it very interesting that human meat is supposed to be hard to digest and causes constipation. I wonder why that would be? It’s muscle tissue that shouldn’t be all that different from other types of meat that we eat already, especially if it’s cooked. Maybe it has something to do with our own digestive systems and flesh being incompatible with each other as some sort of safeguard? Plenty of other species cannibalize each other without getting all stopped up (I assume) though, so I’m curious why this would be the case with humans. Anyway, super interesting!

Also, years ago I remember reading that in China up until the 1930s there were still human meat restaurants in operation. Apparently high-caste Hindus were preferred. The reason cited was that meat-eaters' flesh was tough and particularly salty. High-caste Hindus however ate no form of flesh and were therefore not so. When you read "salt was not forgotten" it reminded me of this.

been growing them for years. I use them as i would use small bitter asian eggplants. You can also blanch them in hot water and then cook them into a sauce with chunks like a pasta summer sauce. pulverizing the seed adds to the bitterness. I would definitly not eat the leaves raw as they are from the nigthshades familly but using them to wrap food to be cooked on hot embers or in hot rocks pit like a lot of tribes from the pacific islands do. (i.e.meat or pudding wraped in tender leaves that add flavors, then wraped again in tougher leaves to protect from direct heat).

ketchup (both tomato based and soy based) originated from Indonesia and Malaysia, which I guess is close enough to Fiji, so maybe they really were making a type of ketchup...

I guess that if someone eats humans, then their sense of taste is probably messed up too.

I don't want to be too horrible, but I passed a plane crash on a river one time. It took us an hour to get past the crash smoke. It smelled like a pork barbecue. It was tragic, a reminder of the ephemeral nature of life. The couple who were passengers had just finished an anniversary trip to the remote lodge, where our boat trip was scheduled to lunch. I had my little sons in the boat with us and the captain of the boat was friends with the pilot who crashed. We were on a rocky, remote California river that requires permits to access and the plane was jutting over the cliff as we passed. There was no access, no where to moor the boat and climb up. It took hours for recovery personnel to hike in. We stopped to have a moment of silence and say a prayer. That was all we could have done really, they had been grounded at least an hour by the time we passed by.

Taste wise maybe it's like fish sauce. That stuff is pretty gnarly by itself but it's pretty dang good added to food.

Forget the moral implications of cannibalism, it'll kill ya through constipation.
