I do that too Toni. Most of my pressure canned meats, poultry and fruits are plain. Maybe a bit of garlic and salt to them, but fruits in light syrup. Then, when cooking, I just make the dishes as I want them. So easy, and so good!
Hi Toni…😊. I’m canning Apple Crisp Apples today and came to you too see how you do them. I checked my Ball Book too. But I do like to watch how people do them, I like a visual. My chicken chunks are pressure canning now, so once done, I’m starting this. Busy Sunday for me too but I just love doing this stuff!! I’m in Heaven here today on a cold snowy Michigan day in 2022. Love and Respect Toni….Connie. Btw…you look so cute! I love your top! 🥰
clory k...Ah, good morning, good for you! I'm just a bit tired, and catching up on the usual chores...quickly running out of chicken stock AGAIN!!!! When the weather changes, He will likely stop having his pint of chicken stock every morning!! another reason to welcome Spring!!!
Toni Clanton..Try Bed, Bath and Beyond, Walmart, and Amazon has them as well..Thank you...I like to talk as though my listeners are in the same room as me, I'm glad you like that!
I just saw your videos yesterday. I’m really enjoying all you’re sharing and I’m planning on using your pie crust and storing methods I’ve been blessed with a bunch of Tennessee apples so your information will help greatly! Thank you!
If you take the slicer off the end of the apple peeler it will leave the apple unsliced. Then you can get a corer-slicer, and it will core the apples and slice them into thick slices. If you want thick slices.
I hope you check your videos today because I have a question that needs a quick answer. How many MINUTES did you water bath them for???? I didn't hear you tell that and other than that this was a perfect video. Also was the apples in your sugar blanch water boiling the whole 5 minutes or just boiling hot for 5 minutes before you jarred them up? I like the fact that after canning the apples are not floating on top of the sugar water. I am running to town now to get bottled lemon juice, as I came back from the NC Mountains late yesterday with a whole bushel of apples and have a johnnie apple seed corer, peeler, slicer like yours.
Ok the apples are not floating because they have been blanched in the sugar water...normally I avoid blanching wherever I can get away with it, but apples have lots of air, and this helps...I water bath pints for 20 minutes!
vinegar is only used to clean the rims of the jars before adding the lid and ring, and then added to the canner water (not the individual canned food products) to prevent the cloudy mineral buildup on the outside of your jars during the canning process. this keeps your jars clear.
perhaps to add to the "canner water" to prevent cloudy mineral build up on the outside of the jars, I did not say to to add vinegar inside jars of canned Apples!
May I ask... Doesn't blanching the apples make them mushy when you water-bath them ? Okay... I asked that before you explained it... Sorry... Good video 🦋
