Absolute legend! Although for my hp laptop there was only one graphics card and the drivers were apparently not loading. So I enabled and then hit followed the steps to update drivers and it instantly fixed and my hot keys now work. Thank you for getting me on the right track!

I only have one option showing on my PC in device manager under display adapters and that's nvidia GeForce. there is no 2nd option there for me. no brightness bar

Disabling the integrated graphics on my desktop has actually fixed the issue as now it doesn't override my custom contrast/brightness settings I had defined within the NVIDIA control panel. cheers

Heads up !!! I had everything liked he showed but for me when i activated the Radeon GPU nothing happened, so i had both active and problem wasn't fix. I had to DESACTIVATE them both, then when i activated the Radeon GPU it did the flickering screen and fix everything! Thanks for video!!!

I encountered the same problem just now and got into Device Manager on my own, where I found out both of my Radeon 780M and RTX 4070 were disabled, but apart from the brightness slider missing, the laptop was running perfectly fine. So I turned both of them on and literally nothing changed. I then disabled and enabled back on the Radeon GPU, the screen flickered and the brightness slider appeared and enabled changing the brightness

If you have intergrated graphics, then you do the same steps but you click on properties and the drovers and choose update drivers.

That is the issue here but when I re-enable the crappy onboard graphics card, the graphics are muddy and I don't want to use them at all. But it hurts my eyes when I disable the intel onboard graphics.

Just because the driver has not been updated after installing new windows. Or May be after an OS update. Just go to device manager and select display the right click on it to pop up a list. Click on update driver. Make sure the Internet connection is active

I had the secondary adapter enabled, but it had a generic driver. Right-clicking it & auto-updating the driver did the thing. Thank you so much for sharing! ♥

I think this may work with this exact setup but with over 11 hours I can still not find an answer on how to make my screen stop automatically dimming. There is no brightness setting there is no adaptive display and every video I've watched to install either one of these does not work.

I have all the sliders, they "work", they just don't do anything. When I restart the computer, it's at the brightness I changed it to AND it's fixed and I can change it. And then out of nowhere, after some amount of time, it just stops working again. I've been searching this for hours, working on it for hours. I've already did the graphics driver stuff. Both Nvidia and Intel. But I read this isn't an Nvidia issue, that's not what controls your brightness, and the person gave multiple reasons how you'd know that, like desktops and laptops don't have separate drivers, and not everyone has a dedicated graphics card. But I tried anyway. What's so strange is 1. It breaks out of nowhere (I thought it was after sleep, but happened while I was using the computer) 2. I can make it work by restarting 3. I can make it work for a single second by doing various things that make the screen switch/flash, like it's acknowledging it until whatever overrides it syncs back up or something. I feel like I'm gonna be returning this computer if I don't get this fixed. Will be the 3rd one in a month. It's otherwise good.

I had a brightness issue in my Lenovo 2022 Thinkbook 14 . My brightness button wouldn’t work and using the settings brightness scale would not change it at all. I tried to update my graphics but messed it up. I did a system restore to try to fix me messing up my graphics and to fix the brightness issue. From seeing comments I was scared it would take a whole day to restore. Fortunately It restored for about 30 minutes . I plugged in my charger while it was restoring and it didn’t disturpt it. My screen turned black after I plugged in my charger , turns out it just went to sleep mode. Now my brightness works and no documents were affected. Advice: Adjust sleep mode to 2 hours atleast so it doesn’t go to sleep while restoring and you don’t have to keep coming back to move your mouse. This can disturb the restoring mode

i have the same issue, and two graphics adaptors are already enabled , no slider. no control . even when I go to settings and change brightness slider. question: should I connect integrated graphics card to the same monitor which is already connected to dedicated graphics card. my monitor has several ports. the only way that I can adjust brithness level is from monitors menu.

Something happened to my graphics and when right clicking to enable as shown in 2:45 I checked on properties because a warning symbol appeared on. From there I looked and it said that some drivers couldn't load properly and something about a rule 31. I just clicked on Roll Back Driver and now I'm good to go.
