"You see, Hans, we sat down with Gerhard to manufacture a simple, cheap infantry support vehicle. But then schnapps got involved, things got a bit overengineered, women got impregnated... not by us, mind you, but by the Sturmpanzer."
One day there will be a trash horror movie, about a Nazi Zombie Sturmpanzer II crew, that is still huntin out in the desert. Like the movie "Dead snow" but with one bloody tank crew :D
_More_ Nazis, Nazi humans, Nazi zombies, Nazi aliens, Nazi demons, Nazi elfs, Nazi dwarves, Nazi dragons all in a free for all. *_Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss_*
why develop a high velocity smoothbore gun fireing finstabilized depleted uranium discarding sabot shell when you can literally have a chode fireing 50kg bombs at your enemy and knock them out in one hit? The world may never know
Because in real life shell fragments from an HE burst charge don't penetrate armor with nearly the efficiency that they do in War Thunder. Small low mass, irregularly shaped, relatively flat pieces of shell steel aren't going to go through top/belly/side armor like they do in War Thunder. Look at WW1 tanks, 10-13mm of armor plate. Couldn't stop a direct hit but provided ample protection from artillery shrapnel and lead core machine gun bullets. Also in War Thunder internal divisions aren't modeled. The turret basket's plating would stop many fragments as well as the firewall between the engine compartment and the fighting compartment, but in War Thunder they simply don't exist. Bo time gaming has a great video recorded in real time where shell fragments went through the belly plate of a panzer IV and into his Pz IIH killing his crew and didn't even do a penetration check on his Pz IIH's belly plate. While immersive War Thunder is nowhere close to realistic and accurate post penetration, but it is better then most.
+Cragified Well you should know, that HE never was intended for penetrating armour. It blasted so hard against tank that it ruptured steel inside, which then turned in to a deadly shrapnel. But yeah, modern guns are designed to be used extremely long ranges if compared to second world war guns. Sorry for my bad english.
The KV-2 has been doing the same to top tier since forever. The sturmpanzer just makes it that much easier since it has a faster reload and its HE penetration hasn't been nerfed into the ground yet.
ElvenMan it was and may still be because it’s an all around tank, T64B is slow, Leopard is weakly armored, challenger is weakly armored, etc. Abrams is very mobile, has okay armor and an average gun which imo makes it one of the best, especially with its blow out panels for ammunition and such
M1 Abrams armor value is known. Not entirely but some values have been given. How accurate they are to the true value is unknown but that's the stats claimed. The Abrams can still be knocked out from being blasted on the roof/floor armor or rear. The sides can be protected with additional ERA packages. Also, ammo detonation isn't even a point worth mentioning. A crew bails out when the tank gets penetrated, regardless of actual damage. The blow out panels increase crew survival. Unlike Warthunder, it doesn't allow you to keep fighting since crew typically bail out after being penetrated. If not, the Abrams would of simply retreated and go for repairs. The next problem with any 'single' weapon system being deployed alone in a older time line is logistics. Fuel, ammunition, food, maintenance, communications etc. Due to multi-fuel turbine, fuel isn't a major issue. Food can be stolen but communications would be limited. Maintenance would be extremely difficult and ammunition outright impossible.
Let me correct myself. Values we know on the Abrams is from a book by Zaloga in 2009 which looks in to Soviet estimate of the armor value. Zaloga's stuff are pretty on point. So until anything new is released, it is reliable. Furthermore, the entire Abrams rear is a giant ventilation if you ever seen pictures of it being open. Easy area to hit. Also it is indeed public knowledge that the upper glacis of the Abrams is not composite material. IIRC M1A2 had 50mm of armor sloped enough to neutralize HEAT.
It's not like the whole tank is made of uranium. And we perfectly understand the properties of depleted uranium it's not exactly impossible to have a pretty good estimate. That aside. Uranium plating is not the toughest in the world.
I think it was because he was getting steam popups, possibly a friend with an inappropriate name. He did not stream this, plus it would be pretty easy to determine his position lol
Foxtrot Delta nah Germans have bias too. Gaijin likes buffing Germans for obvious reasons but also likes buffing Germans to make the Soviets look stronger historically
Literally any tank with a Howitzer strapped in. Ho-ro is tier 1 yet it can pen "55mm" everywhere. I have used the Ho-Ro in assault tank arcade time and again to grind up the japanese tree. It's just as much a glass cannon as the Sturm, but 1.7
phly phly! Up is down challenge! We already saw the power of the schrage musik, bu we haven't saw the OTHER plane with that system Take the ki-45 tei into mixed battles and make at least 3 ground kills with your upward facing cannons while upside down! Attempt 23
America: "We've just created the most technologically advanced tank in the world!" Germany: "Our tanks from 80 years ago can destroy that thing with one shell."
Commander Phly! I request that you attempt the “Great gun, Shit tank” challenge. Take out the British 6.3 Charioteer along with the Wyvern (for when times are tough” Good luck chap! Attempt #30
ok but the Ho-Ro's 150mm derp gun is amazing, you dont even need to load ap, just HE will take care of aaaaaaaaall your problems i got 1st place in a rank 5 battle with only ho-ro very good stuff
Ultimate Russian bias! Roll out in the Zis-30 Gun tractor and the take to the sky with the LaGG-3-34 (premium) with that 37mm nose cannon with 60mm of pen at 2.3! Attempt #6
It's a literal Glass Cannon, but can you just imagine what would happen if Gaijin decide to buff the Stumpanzer II with Sherman level reload speed, Maus level armor, and 8.8 Flak range.
@Phantomschmerz The classification of a tank is a vehicle that has weapons and drives on tracks so technically it is but really just depends on how you think of it
Its not Surprising to be Honest. If you tought the Soviet 152mm was a Derp Gun you have been Fooled by the 2mm Difference there. Because a Shell Fired by the 152mm Gun of an SU152 etc. Has something around 4-6kg of Explosives. While the 150mm Gun of that Sturmpanzer Fires Bombs with 8-10kg of Explosives. Its nearly Twice the Derp Power compared to the 152mm Soviet Derp Gun.
woah, what do you think you can foching kill at that BR? plus that the Vautour is a damn foching bomber, plus the fact that its just nearly impossible :D
i managed to shot a t-34 85 over a small hill with sturmpenzer lol, distance like was 400m today earlier, my squad mate who was using t-34 85 got speechless
i did it but can't face rank 6 yet :P on faced rank 3 to 4 when i did it :P and killed a few people like 2 :P and then was blown up by a 1 tonne bomb :P
its not a bug...Have you saw a is2 shell penning the tiger 2 front armor on 1000m.....destroying its armor cracking it cause the amount of energy....thats like this.
Matej Gr. Well also by the time the Germans where making Tiger II's, their armour quality wasn't great and became fairly brittle. Other Russian tests showed chunks of armour being torn off rather than the shell just bouncing off Vs their 122mms. (However, not sure how accurate these tests where since they tested used tanks that had already burned down, so the armour would be even more brittle plus being shot at multiple times further).
Enough HE will move the tanks a few meters to the side or turn it upside down. The tank is fine, but the crew is not. And if there is any gaps in the armour, the pressure wave will find its way inside and maybe just lift the turret a few centimeters before it crash down again. Break some bearings, but repairable once you have flushed out the crew.
Phly, i have a good challenge for you!! Play the M48 in stock configuration (you can uncheck the modifications making it stock) Or...play the M48 using only the APCR shell. Good luck, you will need it Attempt #28
once i was in the first russian aa truck and me and a sturmpanzer were fighting and somehow i bounced in of those shells at point banc range no armour is best armour
*ATTEMPT 12 (ot 13, idk)* Play the FCM.36 for *Loving the Unloved* please, this wierd looking duck deserves some love, it may not look like it, but it's a pretty good tank... at 1.0...
With almost every tank Phly tries to say it requires skill and luck to get it right. *Proceeds to gas every tank in third person getting so tired he stop to aim and goes trough a layer of effectively 400mm steel* im honestly dying of laughter just watching Phly rethinking his life...
