Beautiful gorge! I was wondering how such a steep-sided feature could hold such still waters…. I suspected a waterfall or dam would be revealed eventually. Paddling in early autumn would be breathtaking! Cheers!

Stunning place. Yes unusual to have such a gorge with slow waters, but it makes for a very pleasant paddle. Thanks for watching, Paul

Thank you J 👍 yeah nice to have a tandem paddle for a change as well. Packraft would work a treat! The Loch Sheil trip was awesome and we mangaged to get around that pesky headland, so all good. Thanks for watsching, Paul

Awesome stuff guys! That gorge was stunning. Respect for admitting your mistake on camera, we are all human, but showing this "weakness" is in fact pure strength, and will inspire others to respect nature as you say. Well done Paul & Fred

Thanks Eze 👍 Thought I'd bring it to attention, as I didn't know. Legally I think you can still paddle it being respectful (don't quote me), but definitely better to do it outside of those dates. If I'd of known I would of waited. Thanks for watching mate and see you soon, Paul

Was a really pleasant stretch of river, I can definitely recommend! It was a little stretched for two days to be honest and would be hard to make it last much longer. Glad you appreciated the animation 😁 Take care, Paul

What beautiful scenery guys. That's a river I'd love to paddle in the future that's for sure. And that place you pitched up at, stunning. Nice fire on a little beach, you can't beat it. The gorge was stunning wasn't it mate. Great advice at the end re: paddling tines of the year. Thanks Paul and cya Saturday pal 👍
@WhenNaturePauls
@WhenNaturePauls 2 года назад
Cheers ant, the gorge was pretty special! I think legally you can still paddle it peacefully, but just not worth the hassle when you're greeted by an upset local like we were. I would of paddled it later if I'd known, it's definitely the best thing to do. Looking forward to it! Be good to meet you, Paul

Been looking at getting into this hobby, been doing a few wild camps with the motorbike but it's pretty restrictive as to where to go and looks so much more scenic by canoe. Your videos are very inspirational so in the near future I'll be gearing up for it 👍 keep up the good work

I know what you mean I used to take the bike on camping trips (and loved it) but canoe has to be my favourite way to travel in the outdoors, you can get right in the thick of it, at a nice pace and somehow helps you feel more connected to nature. Thanks for the encouragement, Paul

Lovely video. Planning a day trip starting at Stuy later this week but am unfamiliar with the area. May I ask, which way do you recommend going around Eilean Aigas (Aigas Island), it looks on the map like you could go either way. Is it obvious once you're there? Thanks
@WhenNaturePauls
@WhenNaturePauls 2 года назад
Hello, the left hand side is the most interesting with its steep gorge walls. This was the first and only time I paddled it, but you can go either side. If I had the time I'd probably do a lap. Hope this helps, all the best, Paul
