Canoeing the North Saskatchewan River in western Alberta. Put-in at the FTR bridge near Nordegg and took-out at Saunders, about 29 km. Very low flow in the river, but great to be canoeing in November. Hope you enjoy.
Thanks very much Chris. Yeah the three hour drive to the west never disappoints. It's tough going back home most of the time, wish I could stay longer. Thanks, take care man.
Hey thanks very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was my pleasure, hopefully more canoeing videos to come next spring. Thanks for taking the time. Take care.
Thanks very much. Yeah the first half of November was very nice, unusually warm. It's more back to normal now, snowy and cold. Thanks for watching, take care.
Nice work again! You have nice rivers for canoeing. I have been little bit busy with my sled projects and but on next weekend I will try hiking again. :)
Thanks Asko. Yeah I love that river. I think that was my last canoe trip for this year, time to go hiking now. Maybe no snowshoeing this year, need some snow! Take care man.
Yeah it was a tougher bike ride than I anticipated. Quite windy on the highway and first half of the trunk road. Took a lot longer than I thought. The downhills were awesome though. Last canoe of the season I think.
another awesome video Nick! only paddling i did in Canada was in New Brunswick, down the St John from Alagash Maine to St John Harbor....that was 27 years ago....i love to river trip even today, but my trips tend to be limited to Montana and Washington state....hard to beat Canada's waters though!!!...be safe amigo...atb...woods
Thanks very much. It was a real nice day trip late in the season. There are definitely some rivers down east that I would like to paddle, Canada and U.S. Yeah you've got some great rivers down there. I'd love to paddle the upper Missouri River, or some of it's tributaries. Many others too. Glad you commented, I just noticed you-tube un-subbed me from your channel. Thanks again, take care.
Thank you. Yeah it was a nice paddle. Winter weather moved in a few days after this trip, rivers are all iced up now. Happy holidays to you as well, and a great new year ahead. And more great wildlife videos.
happytrails323 Yes, Happy New Year to you too! Thanks, my next video will be very, very long. But feel free to check out the last 20 seconds of it, I think you will enjoy. Take care.
I dropped my canoe and gear by the bridge the night before. Drove down to the finish, camped for the night, then rode my bike up to the canoe in the morning.
i made my riding buddy a trailer setup this summer for his motorcycle so he could tow his kayak be hind his bike and put all his gear in the kayak it worked out good but if i make any more i'm going to put a shock on the wheel so its not such a rough ride for the gear in the kayak
Thanks again. Yeah this is a very nice half day paddle, with a few different river characteristics. It was very low, but great to be canoeing this late in the year. It is colder now, bit of snow here, feels like more coming. It will be more hiking and snowshoeing now. Hope you have some more footage from your hiking trip, and previous canoe trip, would love to see it. Take care.
Yeah the red canoe is an old school whitewater canoe. Quite a bit of rocker at the bow and stern, looks like a banana. This yellow one is a Prospector, not as curved, tracks much better in the water. I figured with the river so low, the small amount of whitewater wouldn't be a problem in this canoe. Plus my bike fits better in this canoe. I like them both very much, but the yellow Prospector is a much better all-round canoe, can fit more gear, and it is faster. Thanks, take care.
Very cool. I'm planning to pick up a prospector this spring. I've been looking at the Nova Craft TuffStuff mostly but would definitely consider a Clipper if I could find one with the nice seats like yours has. Thanks for sharing your vids. I plan to do all the same trips this coming year so they're keeping me entertained until then. :D
imbezol Awesome. Yeah most companies have a Prospector or something very similar. Nova Craft are very good canoes. The seats in the Clipper are nice, better for kneeling really, but comfy all the same. It will be tough to wait for spring, maybe I'll see you on the river.
Yeah sorry, I didn't get outdoors enough this year, wasn't living up to the other name, haha. Thanks for sticking with me. I have a few winter packpacking trips planned in David Thompson country. Take care.
Nick Harland , I had all kinds of plans to get out also. was hunting one day and didn't see anything so I said screw it. Drove out to nordegg for the day LOL
