35 mm German Exacta camera taking a picture at 11,000 feet in the Colorado Rockies. It was good enough to be entered in a Backpacking Magazine photo contest.
It's hard to believe that thing is almost 10 years old.... where has all this time gone? Great review on a great camera. Take care Alex, we'll see you next time.
While this is true, you could potentially setup a battery exchange subscription service where all users pay an annual fee and can exchange battery (cassette style like power tools) and pay for the net energy they pickup. Not saying that it’s economical or feasible but it is possible
Hi Alex, I currently shoot with a mkiii and love it. I have been shooting canon since 1972 with the TLB film camera. Back whEn we weren’t considered creeps. It does sadden me to see dslr’s go away. I wish manufacturers would still offer dslr’s. Enjoy your videos. How about a review on the Jeep, I had a CJ many years ago. Yes I am an old fart but still love the toys. Have a good one. Greg
Hey Greg, thank you for the kind words friend! I do have a Offroad channel that I recently launched, are you following me there: ru-vid.com/show-UCo6oiFsOpdtYYaYBO1IGiRQ a Jeep review is in the works! I had an Uncle when I was a kid who had a CJ, that thing was a beast! Great to have you part of the channel!
Appreciate this type of review. There are a lot of demands on my budget these days so new equipment is low on the list at present. I have found a top of the line old camera is as good as a newer low end camera. So I really appreciate this type of review.
It's a good camera my friend has one. But its not the best with dynamic range, but I think sometimes people go a little overboard with dynamic range its not the end of the world. Download DXO PhotoLab 4 and try Deep Prime best noise reduction in the world. Or DXO PureRaw Deep Prime is just cleans up your raw files. Export to DNG and edit in any editor you want. Trust me it will seem like you bought a Canon 5D Mark 4.
Great video, thought about picking one up before I finally saved enough for a R6. I still go back to my 7D not mk2. It was and still is a beast. Been seeing allot of people going back to it and re viewing it..
I own two 5DIII's and a lot of glass. To me it's just a hobby, I don't need to feel to upgrade my gear every 2 or 5 years everytime something new comes out, as long as I still like my pics.
That’s a setup that loads of professionals (especially in the demanding realm of wedding photography) have survived and excelled with for a decade.. that’s incredible hobbyist gear 😂🙌🏾
@@wanneske1969 Yup I ordered mine 2 days ago for professional use as well. Should take about a 2 weeks to get it in hand where I’m from.. really excited
Handshake: Thanks. It is as if you were just talking right to me, the beginner 😃. I have to check out Adorama as I am still looking for an inexpensive entry-level with little expansion in it, so I can kind of grow with it. May the weather always be CAVU. Fly Fun, Fly Safe, Just Fly and take those Shots!
My friend, it's the smart thing to consider. Especially right now that most camera manufactures are migrating to mirrorless, many photographers who have been in for some time are running for the switch, leaving a surplus of used on the market, which means some good deals are to be found!
Great video. One thing you overlooked was how awesome the picture styles are in this camera. If you setup your picture styles, shoot in RAW, open your files in Canon DPP, and export them out as tif files you can save the great color this camera produces. You can the open as objects in Photoshop and avoid all of the nasty things ACR does to your files. This camera and the 5 DSR produce WAY better color than the R5 or R6. I have an R6 and am seriously looking at buying a used 5Diii.
thanks so much for doing these older camera lookback videos! i am constantly scanning the used cameras for sale in many outlets and i am also looking at possibly changing platforms completely.....these are helpful and interesting as i am looking and weighing out a direction!
See if anyone here will help me. I had a canon 700d, Sold and bought a canon 5d mark iii, I was with her a week, but the lack of the rotating display made me return it ... I got a canon 6d mark ii, and I find it fragile, the dial next to the eccra and the buttons my god, even I'm afraid to touch. Then I don't know where to turn. Canon 5d mark iii used with about 20/30 thousand shots for 800 euros ... or stick with this 6d mark ii with less than 500 shots and cost me 650 euros (but I have offers if I want to sell it for 800 and 900 euros) You guys who tell me?
Wow, great demonstration and info Alex:) Gonna watch this several times and go to the Adorama site! Was this camera one of the first full frame ones out? Can you use it strictly on automatic mode?
Fun fact. I have started with E1's then went nikon d200/d700/d3.. switched to canon for c5dmk2 and 3... then moved more to videography, going strong with a7s2's. Now i have bought a FX3.... and got myself a C5dmk3 back. This is one of my favourites camera of all time. And not having an EVF is a godsend. in 2023? its a tank you can buy for almost nothing. Still shoots amazing and you literally almost cant kill it. Ultimate camera for a person like me.
Awesome video!!! I picked up one of these recently as my first full frame camera. I already have a Canon 90D, SL1, and C100 MK II. The 90D & C100 MKII are my primary video cameras. Also do much of my photography from the 90D. I wanted to up my skills with an older full frame. Fully back button focusing with the 5DIII now.
Don't know how old this video is but I am living in an area where there is so much beauty I want to learn how to take pictures that will do the wildlife justice. Candace
