it would be better to show the images full screen to justify the noise and dynamic range good or bad. Showing on the camera screen doesn't really justify if it's as great as u r saying or it's because of small screen u can't see the noise level.

Hi Indrajeet, there are Videos on my channel about the 6D II where we do exactly that - we look at the images in Lightroom in Full resolution and in fine detail - but it is in another video :)

I've been wanting to upgrade to this camera for a while. Hopefully in the next year I can afford one, probably used. But it's a great camera!

Thank you very much for this! I have the same camera and similar taste for unposed and undisturbed portraits in low light. I use ef 200/2.8L but also dream about 85/1.2. The way you are holding your camera is revelation to me 😃

I also have the 200 f2.8 L II and the 85 L II and prefer from all lenses the 135 L :D That's the most special one. You'll find videos to those lenses on my channel if you want to see some portraits :)

+1 for the excellent tip for using the articulating screen like you would with a medium format camera, and photographing in a less intrusive/aggressive manner. Good job.

That’s how I shoot at events. 6DMII is the best.

I have this camera too. Recently shot a wedding at 10,000 ISo and it was much better than the 5DIII. I think when people say it has bad AF, they mean less AF points. If only this camera had a joystick, I would ditch my 5D straightaway.

ritavs I haven't compared it to Nikon or Sony and haven't bothered about it much. I am more of a low light shooter and successfully used this at 10,000 ISO for professional wedding assignments

ritavs Great, you'll love it. My first DSLR was 600D, its practically a 550D with articulating screen.

The 6D2 has "bad" autofocus in sports setting, like at a 5k race for instance. And it's not awful but it gets confused easily with a glancing flash of light, something reflecting in chrome for instance. the 7D2 has no such problem. Also in a high volume setting, you'll feel the single DIGIC start to get overwhelmed as the AF starts to struggle a bit, but it's not a case of "this is unusable" but it something that you become very slightly aware of, and compensate the work flow a bit. And when I say high volume, I mean 3-4 jpgs per second for a minute or more. But these are extremes. And yes, I own a 6D2 and a 85 1.2, and they are a wonderful combination for our general event work. The low light ability is just the best.

Great review, thank you... i have the 6d2 and it is an awesome camera... I wish that I had viewed this video before I shot a Mexican dancer during a Cinco de Mayo celebration in San Diego, California on 05 May this year... I had problems finding an autofocus point to hold on the dancer's face when using TTL viewing since the autofocus point array of the 6D2 is centered in the middle of the frame. Shooting in AI Servo did not allow me to focus and recompose. Next time I shoot an event like this, I plan to use live view with face recognition. However, since the environment in which I will be shooting is very bright with the sun shining over my shoulder, I plan to add my Hoodman Loupe attached to the camera with the Hoodman elastic band. This should give me the advantages of eye-level and live-view at the same time...

I did a test series of exposures using my 6D2 with a Canon 85mm f/1.8 wide open using Face Detect in Live View with the Dual Pixel CMOS auto focus. The camera focused on the eyes over 95 percent of the time and, I suspect that the times it did not lock focus on the eyes was operator error, not camera error. www.cambridgeincolour.com/forums/thread63090.htm BTW: I have solved my problem of not being able to see the LCD in bright sun. The Hoodman Loupe was not satisfactory because it did not stay in place well using the Hoodman elastic ties. However, the SWIVI Viewfinder is great. It makes the package a bit larger but, doesn't weigh very much. The view that I get is marvelous and is reminiscent of shooting with the "chimney" viewfinder on my old Hasselblad 500C which was one of the clearest views of an image I ever got. In the case of the SWIVI, the image is not reversed and is at eye level.

Hi! It does look very nice! I would like to know more about your lighting setup. Most of the time I see that people have one speedlight on a camera and the other one on the lightstand as a rim light(kicker), but this setup looks different. Did you have a flash on your camera? You said you did have two lights in the room- did they bounce off the wall or were they a direct flash? Did you use any speedlight modifiers? I'm sorry for my mistakes, it's not my first language :D Greetings

On events usually I play around with light. I change the flashes over the evening. Sometimes I shoot to the ceiling, sometimes straight into the crowd, sometimes with one flash on a stand, sometimes with two, sometimes just with one flash shooting up to the ceiling. Try it out and stick to what looks good. I have a remote control on the camera to control the flashes, I usually shoot in TTL mode and I have the Yongnuo YN EX RT 600 flashes.

Canon 85 f1.2 has a slow auto focus. Can you please do the same test on Canon 50 f1.2, thanks! :)

Hi! great video! I've already seen the German version of it. Do you plan on posting the pictures somewhere on the internet? It would be nice to see them directly to assess the sharpness now that I saw the backstage. Thanks! It looks like the camera has its strenghts. I am a 6d user and I am considering switching to mark ii or adding one to my kit. It would help me make that decision. Have a great day!

Hallo lieber Yannis Mich würde interessieren, wie du die zwei Blitze im Raum positioniert und eingestellt hast? Ich wünsche dir weiterhin viel Erfolg und hoffe auf viel mehr Videos von dir auf dem Kanal.

Fantastic video, and a great channel..! How do you find the live view face detection system work when you are tracking faster moving subjects, such as small children running around. Does it keep up..? Would be great to see a video on this... Thanks again for the Greta content 👍🏻
6 лет назад
Hi M AJ, it also works great with moving subjects in my opinion. Take a look at my channel, you'll find many videos where I photograph and you see directly the image I took. I now have a one year old and I usually take shots wide open at f1.2 with the 50mm and 85mm lenses and he is most of the time in focus - and that at f1.2.

If you shoot photos in live view mode, and you turn off the preview after each shot, is there a long blackout time after each exposure?

No blackout at all

Sehr gut gemacht.

How far can you push iso in video mode? Without it being grainy and unusable
6 лет назад
The Noise reduction in the image in the 6DII is really great, so you can shoot up to ISO 12.800 without seeing much noise or grain. Even on the 6D I I could go to ISO 12.800 sometimes and still get great video quality in terms of grain and noise - so it should deliver in nearly all situations.

Hi - Love the video! I have a quick question tho- How were you able to use live view and external flash? I didn't think that was possible? I also shoot dance and will try using only live view today!
6 лет назад
Hi Corey, it worked great even at f1.2! It is possible. I didn't set any special feature it just worked with my camera. Should work with yours too :) If not let me know.

Sir at which iso range you start seeing grains
3 года назад
I can still shoot at IS0 25000 if the light is good (like the flash images here). If you just shoot into darkness that is not a great outcome. I usually have 6400 as my maximum of choice and use flash or continuous light whenever it gets too dark. But you can get great results with ISO 6400 and 12800 and even more when the light is good.

Hi! Do you think the new 85 f1.4 will work better than 1.2 on this body?
6 лет назад
Hi Luciano, I don't know which one is better - I think every Canon prime lens is great (as probably are the Nikon and Sony native prime lenses). I have made great experiences with the 50mm f1.8 and now I have the f1.2 L version and see small difference. I think the 85mm f1.8 is also a great lens - as of course are the f1.4 or f1.2. The f1.4 is probably faster in focus, has IS for Video work und is made for higher Megapixel Cameras which will come in the coming years. The 85mm f1.2 is and will be still available as the Bokeh and the Look is unique and is said to be one of the bet full frame portrait lenses out there. Although I think you could get very close also with the cheap f1.8 version.

Do you think is it worth it to pay more 5d iv dynamic range? I wish they are the same size ...
6 лет назад
I haven't tried the 5D Mark IV, but I think the price difference is huge. The Video is better on the 5D Mark IV and the Dynamic Range as well, but I find the 6D Mark I & Mark II really great value.
