Canon are back!! In this video I cover some of the most important camera settings that I use for the majority of my shooting scenarios. This will get you up and running quickly and help mitigate any early issues and stress when first setting up the C70.
Many of the menu areas are covered in greater detail in the Canon C70 Part 1 video, so be sure to watch that video first.

Ok good. By saving the settings onto an SD card from C70 #1 and loading them to C70 #2; will all the camera’s setting match or just the color profile?

Hi Ian, I may have missed it however what's your reasoning behind not using CLOG2 and getting the most DR out of the camera?

Hiya, I talk quite a lot about the difference between Clog 2 and 3 in my Part 1 video, so deffo go and check that out as it’s got some log examples aswell, but essentially in a nutshell, Clog3 was created after Clog2 due to a lot of industry professions being unhappy with the noise floor of CLog2, which meant the shadows produced quite a lot of noise and grain, and it was initially designed to be used across large productions and professional colourist workflows in which they have all the tools at their disposal to get the best from the image. Clog3 isn’t as aggressive in lifting the shadows, so the noise and grain is better controlled, which means it’s better when a quicker grade is needed, and its meant to be easier for people to work with in post. However, Canons new sensors (especially in the C70 are excellent at controlling noise) much better than the C200, and 300 models, so Clog2 is definitely easier to work with now in comparison to when it was first introduced. I mainly still use CLog3 as it normally gives me more than enough dynamic range, especially if I can control the lighting environment, and I find it nice to grade with, especially if I’m using a CST in Resolve. I do sometimes use CLog2, and if you shoot in the RAW formats on the C70 it defaults to CLog2 (however you can change this in post via the RAW metadata). I’ll prob make a part 3 video dedicated to shooting Raw on the C70 and using CLog2 and grading it using a CST ☺️ Hope that helps 👍

@@ianthurstan Thanks heaps! I actually have never tested CLOG 3 with the C70 so will give it a go, all makes sense.

Very informative video. At 4:26 you mention to switch to C-Log 3 when additional dynamic range is needed. I could be wrong here, but doesn’t C-Log 2 allow for more dynamic range than C-Log 3?

At the 4.26 point I refer to C-log 3 having greater dynamic range when compared to WideDR ☺️. If you wanted even more dynamic range than C-Log3 then yes C-Log 2 have around an additional stop over C-Log3 👍

If you’re shooting 10 bit or greater always shoot log. Wide DR is intended for 8-bit color spaces and quick delivery.

Hello there, quick question for you in this section you’re referring to saving camera settings on an SD card, and then reloading them. Here’s my question: I am renting a second canon C7 camera for a shoot. Can I save the settings on an SD card from camera, one my personal camera. And upload them or reload them to the rented cameraand get the same settings?

@@dawanbrown6615 hiya mate, yeah you should not have an issue taking the camera settings from a rented camera and then uploading the same settings into your own personal camera, as long as the cameras are the same brand and make, I.e as long as they are both C70 cameras ☺️

I've never had an issue with the C70 screen sharpness Personally, however the hinge on it is pretty awful and really needs a redesign
