This is a User's Guide for the Canon EOS M6 Mark II. I made this video to help you understand everything from putting a lens on the camera, to take it off, to where the battery and card goes. One tip to add: around 47:09 Jared mentions release shutter w/o lens disabled, but if you have a manual-only focus lens, you need to enable that function or you will not be able to take photos with that lens.

Thanks for the 'how-to-hold-a-camera' lesson. Its something I taught on Day One when I was teaching. Everyone should watch that section. One point of information... why would you enable 'shoot-without lens?' So you could use manual, third-party and vintage lenses.

The "Knipples" are actually called stippleling, the tiny serrations typically used on firearms.

Release shutter without lens, would be used when you use your camera attached to the back of a telescope for astro photography. So they sell adapters that you can use, since the telescope and the camera don't talk to each other. You have to manually focus the telescope, and if you dont have this turned on you cant take a picture. Thank you for making the guides Jared they are great!!

Release shutter w/o lens is for the manual lens, like Samyang, Rokinon, Kamlan..etc. You need to enable this function.

Great video guy. I'm going to plunk down and get this or the X-S10. Can you tell me if I can just power this on and start shooting? I ask because I ride a motorcycle and enjoy pulling out my GoPro with my left hand, powering up and start shooting with the same hand while riding. I would find it bothersome if I had to power this or the X-S10 up and acknowledge a message as I've heard you have to do with this camera. It looked like at around 16:00 when you turned it on you were ready to shoot straight away. Thanks man!

For some reason the release shutter without lens at 47:10 in this video is a trick to use a manual fisheye lens you turn it on and it makes the camera use the lens for video and photo not sure why it works like that but it does... by the way great Users Guide!!! Love all the vids

Still very much a newbie in the photography world, however as a couple of very helpful gentleman said below, **leave the "release shutter w/o lens" option enabled**. It took me forever to figure out why no pictures were being taken when I changed my lens despite me pressing the button and touchscreen and I came to figure out its because I changed mine to disable. If you plan on changing lens, please heed this message! 🙏🏿 Otherwise this video was extremely helpful to me, so thank you all😊

actually the release shutter without lens function is for people who attach an artisan lens with manual focus on it, cause those lens dont have any connectors to the camera body, therefore the camera body wont take a pic even if u press the shutter button if u leave the 'release shutter without lens' off

47:08 there are some lenses for example the f1.2 35mm 7artisans lens which has no AF or any contacts build in. In this case you need to disable Release shutter w/o lens!

Allow shutter without a lens is required to be enabled if you are using (in my case) a telescope, macro extension tubes (no contacts) or microscope objectives :). Thanks for the video, amazing content and quality as always!

33:17 So there is no 120fps at 1080P? That was the only reason why I was looking into this camera, because I heard it was possible to record in 120fps. But from what you have shown, it doesn't have it.

There is, if you enable the high frame rate option in the menu. You need to set the system on NTSC

Why would I want to shoot without a lens? I wouldn't. However, the shoot without lens option needs to be enabled to shoot with adapted vintage lenses (and some modern manual focus lenses) that don't electronically communicate with the camera.

Boy did you miss the entire point of what Fv is. Probably the singular greatest thing Canon has done in years and everybody misses it and nobody talks about it. If you're actually wondering, it's M(anual) with automatic overrides. Let's call it M for the rest of us. It's the only mode I use now on Canons that have it )My EOS R and M6 Mk II). I use it for everything for stills.

Can you use touch and drag AF with the EVF? I have the M6 II but that's not an option in the menu, not even greyed out. I wounder if the option becomes available once you attach the EVF..thanks
