Hi! Very nice and clear video info on your Canon! I have the similar close Canon ES75 (collecting dust these days), and was pleasantly surprised & thrilled to see I may be able to create some brief 16:9 frame video thanks to your overview. I stuck a headphone into the yellow "AV Out" 3.5 input port and could actually hear my Camcorder capturing Audio. To help export your Video out, the AV Cable, that worked for me 100% of the time, was the yellow composite video rca and a single tip rca composite audio (most come in white but there are black tipped ones out there), with both rca ends turning into a 3.5 jack end to insert into your Camcorder's "AV Out Port" on the side. I've tried several "triple end" yellow red & white rca composite video into 3.5 jack cables and they never worked on this Canon ES75 model. The SVideo Output worked fine, so I was wondering if you correctly "flipped the selector switch" on your External Monitor to see an Svideo Feed instead of "Composite Video"?
Tuck Porter thanks for the comment. I’m glad you found some value in this video. I did research a bit about the svideo out and did see something about a switch but I couldn’t find how to do it. I have an ES80 but no batteries or power. Might still try to do a video on it though.
This camera brings out a very nostalgic aspect of my life. My dad purchased one a good 20 years ago and I've recently have been trying to bring it back to life. Not so much luck. Luckily, I snatched one on eBay for less than $100. We'll be planning a trip to Disney World soon and I can not wait to start recording. I loved using this camera. My Nikon can't compete with memories that we'll be able to record and view on tapes. It may be old school, but very rewarding. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. I had one laying around but I can't seem to figure out how to record. Even when the Hi8 cassete is inserted, it shows the "No Cassette" symbol. Got any advice? Thanks.
I just found a Canon es8400v hi8 I have the manual, cords, and the whole set up. I need to know where I can get the cartridges to record on. I'll sell it it for $75
Either your S-video won't work if your composite line is being used or there is a setting in the camera settings that will switch over to whatever form you wish to output from.
To a Hi8 tape, sorry I should of put that in the video. Hi8 tapes were slightly bigger than a cassette tape and would record analog video. Little harder to find these days but on eBay you could. Another old format that was common is VHS-C, which was half the size of a regular VHS. It then would have a VHS adapter so you would put this smaller tape inside a bigger tape to play on a VCR. I’ll do a video on that at some point.
It’s buried away in my stuff so I can’t tell you at the moment but it’s a 7.2 V DC adapter and if you search for this camera on Amazon you will find one for $10 that is co compatible. It’s listed as UpBright 8.4V AC/DC Adapter Compatible with Canon ES60A ES60 ES65 Hi 8 VIXIA ES410V ES6500V ES750 ES8200V ES8400 ES8600 ES75 ES60A ES60 ES65 Hi8 ES55 CA-550 K CA550 G2000 Elura 100 ES-50 Power Charger
You see the buttons on the top and where it says + and - (rec search). Those buttons turn into fast forward and rewind when in playback mode. You can see the symbols above the buttons at @1:31
@@DisgustedArchive just plug it in and leave it off with the battery on. Does a light come on orange then turn green when full. Sorry I would have to dig it out to test it. Good point tho that could have been in the video.
I recently acquired the ES50. It's the previous model but almost the same. It's a great camera. The only differences I saw was the zoom and the cinema features. Mine is a 500 times zoom. And has no cinema or mosaic feature that I am aware of. Also there is no plug in near the rubber cover near the dial.
There is a number of ways. You can use the composite (RCA) video output cable coming out of the camera into your capture device. That could be a usb stick or a video capture deck. Also some of the more expensive capture devices will have a timebase corrector built in or you will need an external one to have it receive the signal smoothly. A good VCR/DVD recorders will have a TBC built in and can act as a TBC if you loop the video through.
I have the V65 European version it has a flipout screen and all the parts from when it was new including the manual,Got it for £25 ($35) locally 2 years ago, good little camera
Tengo una igual Tengo una pregunta, al momento de cargar por medio la cámara la luz indicadora de carga PARPADEO o es estable,yo fabrique un cargador..

@@tdawgvasinger2812 you could record and then if you have an av output cable, plug into the tv and play it back. Does the red light come on? Do you know if the camera is getting power at all?
@@tdawgvasinger2812 sounds like it is getting power but I find alot of the batteries from those old cameras don’t work or last very long. Do you have the power adapter? That way you could tell for sure that it’s getting power. Also if there’s a window to the tape. You could look to see if the tape spokes are turning to see if it’s recording.
hey like the video! do you know how i could get videos of an old canon camcorder to a chrome book? Its the same as this one but has the red, yellow and white outputs
You need a way to digitize the footage by capturing into a computer. They're are a number of electronics you can buy to do this. I suggest looking on amazon for a Capture SD (Analog formats like VHS+DVD) box.
How i can put new data in hi8 tapes.. i have new hi8 tapes and the player i would like to put videos or films in the hi8 tape...how im supost to do it??
HELP ME PLEASE I connected my hi 8 camcorder (like the one in the video) to my windows laptop and the sound is only appearing in the laptop but not the actual video. I even connected the white and yellow cables...
It may be set to S-Video which is prolly why I couldn’t do it in the video. There were other comments so I’m yet to try it. But it has to switch over and you can’t have the cable plugged in when doing it.
