The canon breech lock lens system is a unique mount design that Canon used for quite a few years. If you happen to have some of these lenses, they are easily adapted to the slew of mirrorless cameras that are available today. The 28mm f3.5 Canon Breech Lock Lens is a great lens if you want a vintage lens that has character and is full manual operated. This is a real world review and discussion about the Canon 28mm f3.5 FL Breech lock lens so I hope it answers your questions when you watch it.
Canon FL 28mm f3.5 Breech Lock Vintage Lens Real World Review om a Leica SL2 Mirrorless Camera title tells youtube that this review is optimised for google...lol.

Nice work on the review David. Some nice samples in there too. As you said, it’s a pretty good lens.

David has gone Canon! ;) I don't own any vintage Canon glass. I do have that Pentax. Thanks for showing it to us!

Thanks for watching! Yeah, now I am officially a canon user. I have two of these FL mount lenses. 👍🤷🏻‍♂️ I just need to get out more and use them instead of letting them sit in a cabinet.

Ok, yes, It's a lovely lens. And the dry grease issue is a common problem with old Canon lenses. I've done a few rebuilds on them and they are an absolute pain to do, but it's worth it. But lets cut to the real big point here.... A cloak. David, you're wearing a cloak. That is beyond excellent!!!!!

I am absolutely loving the cloak. It is really great. I even have another one now in light brown/tan color too. I dont know why it took me so long to discover …

I've had that 28mm FL for around 5 years probably one of my favourite canon lenses. I'd say it's worth having for the pleasant flares and over corrected spherical bokeh (AKA soap bubble bokeh). The only better FL lens is the 19mm R, which has the strangest flare I've ever seen. The flare inverts on the edges of the frame like a lava lamp.

Yes they do, I have just about moved over to them from Nikon on my vintage glass. They had some kind of secret back then and it still works today. God bless you brother!

Hi David. Good review. I agree with your comments regarding ergonomics, I have the FL 35mm f2.5, it's an excellent performer, I'm going to have to dig it out and go shoot it.

I only have two FL mount lenses at this point. The 28 and I think a 58mm. Might be a 55 , I can’t remember at the moment. Haha. Still a cool lens. Yeah, go get it out and see what it will do!!!

David I have the the Pentax 28mm 2.8 M lens . 28mm on crop sensor camera is one of my favorite focal lengths i like the pictres 28 mm lenses render
@davidsaylors
@davidsaylors 7 месяцев назад
It has become one of my goto focal lengths as well but on full frame. I seem to like 28mm and 50mm these days. The 28mm on my CL is a good choice too. I have used that a lot as well.

Hi David, thanks for the history & video review! If I may ask; how much does your repair shop charges for disassembly & cleaning for this fix focus lens? Thanks! PS the Pentax lens looks alike the voigtlander lenses. There's a nice and tiny 20mm 3.5 Voigtlander pancake lens, that is not too bad. The Voigtlander 58mm 1.4 REALLY fantastic!
@davidsaylors

The cleaning and re-lubing of the Canon lens was 85$+25$ for shipping and handling and such. As for the latter, I agree. Pentax set the standard for years on lens design and it does show in more modern iterations. That is a cool legacy. I currently only have one Voigtlander lens and it is a gem. I need some more of those. 😬🤷🏻‍♂️

like how you shoot with a Leica with a Canon lens sporting a Nikon cap ...I think the "old" Canon FD mounts are very fussy. not my favorite. Nice cape by the way...from England? greetings

Thank you 😜I was wondering if anyone would notice the hat! The FD lenses are kinda tech-ie to work with, I like them just because of the build quality mostly…and the price. Haha. Thank you!

Nice talk David. I am right there with you on Vintage Camera's and Lenses! Was it expensive to those lenses serviced?
@davidsaylors
@davidsaylors 7 месяцев назад
The service is 85$ plus 25$ shipping and handling. So 110$ turned around to me. Ifeel that is a steal to be honest now that I have taken a few lenses apart myself. Zack has done me right a couple of times now.

Hi David, Our friend Mr Tennessee, told me you are familiar with Leicas. Can I ask you some questios but also if you have channel-email, I need to send a pic of something- not sure it goes with this camera. If you can help I'd be so grateful! We lived in AL 6 yrs (Springvle) used to go to Helen...such a great place for pics! Also to Hilton Head where the old buildings are made of tiny shells! Tybee Island was pretty cool but Savannah with the mysterious history....so fun!
