Hi everyone! here my sample video to show how to reset ink absorber counter Canon G4000 printer by key without software.

QUESTIONS :
1. What is "Ink Absorber Full."
2. Why do we need to replace it?
ANSWER：Canon printers use small, spongy pads to absorb excess ink that accumulates while printing and cleaning the print heads. When these pads are saturated, the printer will notify you with an error message such as "Ink Absorber Full." or "error 5B00" Some models display a series of flashing lights that you must consult the user manual to decipher. When the ink absorber pads are full, we need to reset and replace the ink pads inside the printer.
If not replace the ink absorber pads after reset, the printer will be leaking and will damage some sensor parts or PCB in your printer.
tips: As for the "full" ink waste pads, you may be able to keep using them without replacing or cleaning them for ONE reset of the counter without ink leaking.

3. Ink absorber kit (QY5-0558-000)

The canon service engineer who came to "fix" my printer did exactly the same thing. Now because I haven't changed the waste ink pads, the print quality is terrible - the colour heads all get "cleaned" on completely soaked pads, so the prints I get look very washed out. You should also replace the waste ink pads when you reset the counter.

OMG this is some kind of witchcraft! Aleveen lim, you are a genius! I called Canon and worked with them for almost an hour on this issue, after which time they told me that I needed to buy a new printer. :( I then watched a bunch of other videos about this and was not able to make heads or tails of them, much less clear up the problem. I gave up for about a month and then found this video. I have no idea how or why this works but it does...f-ing amazing!!!

For G4511 (and maybe other G4500s): DON'T hold down the orange Stop button at the very beginning, while pressing power, just begin with the second step, pressing+holding power while tapping stop 5 times. Everything else is the same as this video. Thank you so much!

Thanks!!!! you save my life. I even spent money to get a licence key to reset, and it did not recognise the printer at all. I feel sad with the Money waste!!!! I thought I have to sent back the printer to center for reset. That WIC reset program did not work at all.

Thank you, this worked for me! You must first update to the latest firmware for this trick to work. For you to update your printer, follow this instruction. Printer firmware update: *Plug printer to laptop *Run printer firmware update, if you cannot proceed with the update, check your printer. Turn printer off. Press black and stop simultaneously for 2 seconds, press the power button on the 3rd second. Relase the black and stop button simultaneously but not the power button. While holding the power button, press the stop button 3 times then release the power button. You should be able to read No document on the printer. After this, you may proceed with the firmware update. After updating the firmware. *then follow the instruction on this vid. Hope this helps. ***Instructions copied from ivy karen 's comment***

Hey thank you. This did work for me as well. I have the G3200. I also had a mechanical problem in that the black ink hose was physically pinched off and was not allowing ink to flow to the print head. Fixed that and then reset the error and now it's printing again.

Hello I have a 4200 as well and I can't get it to work. Step 1 goes well but after loading the paper it doesn't change colors when I press the stop button.

People like you deserve a lot of praise. Unlike Canon co. that constructed printers with multiple error problems. Canon is not offering any advises to frustrated customers, who are stuck with expensive ink supplies. Shame! Thank you Aleveen.
