Yay for new printers. They are fun to unbox but a pain to setup. I have the Canon Pixma I8720, which I believe is similar to yours and it prints beautifully on Canon paper. Still trying to figure out the settings for other paper brands. I would love to see a more in-depth review and some before and after printing 😊

My hubby just bought this printer for me and it arrived today, so I’ve yet to set it up - but thanks for the tip about the colour profiles, I didn’t know about that. I’m looking forward to now clearing my space for it (I’m looking forward to tidying? 😂) and to start printing my labels for my products 😊 a more in depth video of the different settings would be really helpful please 😊 many thanks, Kate (p.s. aww, thanks for watching! Let me know how you get on with the tidying (haha) and setting up your printer. It is really good once you work out the best settings for your designs. I'll try and do another more in-depth video when i get chance

Hey! First of things thank you for informative vid, very helpful! I just have one question, exploitation related; does this printer allow refilling ink cartriges or do you need to reset chips/buy brand new ones?

Hi Kerri-Ann, I invested in this printer a while ago but I’m only getting around to it now. When you’re adjusting the settings do you use the canon print app? I can’t seem to find a way to adjust settings. I don’t have a Mac, so I’m working from my iPad Pro. Thanks

I'm sorely tempted now. That 300gsm does sound good. The most my current printer will do is 200. Also A3! I have a great little HP Envy 7830 that does the job on A4 (but not 300gsm)...and an absolutely ancient Brother Laser that I actually want to get rid of, when I find a decent mono laser that can handle thicker card as well, so that I can get into foiling.

I am really pleased with it now that I've figured out the colour settings can be amended to fix any issues that arise with different paper types. Being able to print on 300gsm is fantastic. If i run in to any issues with it in the coming weeks and months I'll make sure to mention it so you see how i get on with it. Let me know if you do get one.

Hey, Did you try printing longer sheets of paper? Like something that is 60cm long? I'd like to make dust jackets for books but the specs on the canon website don't say anything about individual measurements (like they do for the pixma ts9550)

Does the bkack ink on glossy photo paper please as atm i have 3x espon including a A3 one and no matter what setting i use the black ink never dries so looking to purchase this printer Tia

I've had one for a few years, recently started playing up with smaller prints, paper cocking to one side now and again ruining the prints.. nice that it does A3+ though.. bit finicky with paper sizes that canon doesn't like you using stupidly enough

Great video. Just bought it. Mine only cost £122 as were doing a Canon 20% promotion so thanks for linking to printerbase. Way cheaper than Amazon as well. How much are the inks and where do you buy yours from?

Hiya, I used the Canon inks to start with and then a compatible ink offered by the company I got the machine for, one that doesn't affect the warranty of machine as they have approved it / sell it. Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm glad you found the video helpful. I have started to film an update on how I'm getting on with the printer and more things I've learnt about it. Just got to find time to finish filming and edit it. Hopefully I'll get something up soon.

I am getting this printer for my Birthday for edible use, did you make a video of how to change colour if the image comes out dark. Printers hate me so I’m hoping when I get it, I’ll be happy with the colour. Be much appreciated thank you

Very informative video, just wondering how you are getting on with the printer since purchasing, would you still recommend. I am so close to purchasing from Argos, but one of the comments mentioned lack of detail with the black slightly bleeding onto greeting cards. How is your experience with fine detail and typography in general? Thanks :)

So far I've had no problems and I'm still loving this printer. Different papers and cards do print differently but i had that issue with previous printers so find that its about finding the best paper / card quality i can for the printer. I use a lot of glossy papers, art papers, sticker papers and thick cards and all print perfectly. Hopefully that makes sense and helps.

I had a Canon Pro 100 before. I now have the same printer as you. It doesn't seem to print as detailed on my greeting card paper as my previous printer did. But your video is making me wonder if it's just the paper. To me it seems like the black bleeds a tiny but making things look slightly blurred.

Did you manage to find the culprit for the bleed, was it the paper? I am so close to buying this, but if the printer lacks detail on typography, then that's a major issue!

Yes! If I print with the quality set to high it looks great. And I recently bought proper photographic inkjet paper for my art prints and they look AMAZING! It was definitely the paper. @@TashaLL

Color variation is coming in my canon g 2000 printer. Is there any solution for this? Print variation is not clear until the cartridge is completely cleaned. Please tell me if there is any solution.

hey can you help please? i have a macbook and a canon ix6850 and cant for the life off me print anything other than an a4 card ive tried 5x5 card and 5x7 however it just spits it out and I don’t know what to do .. i only bought this for cards and i cant do that.. even when printing i dont get no printer properties to even select that on a mac that only appears on a windows laptop. im ready to throw it out.

Only bought today and haven't yet been able to link with wifi but I have used a cable instead. This definitely brings up different paper sizes, portrait/landscape etc. Hope this helps.
