*Loving my **Bestt.Digital** portable Printer. Small enough to carry in my little bag and not at all heavy. Getting a lot of use out of it and having a great time printing on the go. Works for me.*
Recently purchased this printer after much research. Extremely pleased with the print quality and ease of use, and versatility. I Highly recommend this printer for producing professional results at an entry level price. I use this printer to reproduce my original artwork.
@@bhavikagajipra4188 Depends on what you're printing. I've moved on to a larger printer, but I don't recall the iP8750 hogging excessive ink. It's a good printer if you're just getting started making your own prints! Good luck!
Thank you so much for this!! I have been trying to find the right printer for MONTHS! I am a traditional artist and i'm in the process of setting up my art studio, i'll also be opening an Etsy shop, start a RU-vid channel and be selling prints. I really wanted an A3 printer but they were all so expensive, and so many of the more affordable ones are all-in-ones! Can't bloody stand all-in-ones! xD Your vid has helped me finally make a decision after months of torment! Now I just need to find an affordable colour laser for printing documents and everything else! Thank you!
these days you don't need to print docs, just have a passport with data files on it for legal, then if you need hard copies you just print that off only
I purchased one & within 3 mths it failed (wouldn't sw. on anymore) Got a replacement from Canon (refurbed and scratched) These machines devour ink cartridges and its my believe that every time they are switched on there is an long wait before you can print -as the machine spins and whirls - flushing ink from the tanks. I got a clogged cyan head and lost almost 1\2 tank of ink just to clean it. Run off a few A3 prints and up pop's the ink monitors to say your running out! I'm so happy now with my Brother MFC-J53300W that prints & prints & prints and ink lasts for yonks!
Hey Chris, i wondered if youre still using this printer 5 years in and whether it's still high on your list as a good printer ? thanks, good video too man :)
Hi Chris, About 3 years ago a photographer from Toronto Suggested to me to consider selling my images at a farmers Market, I live in Ontario Canada and I don't know if in England you have the same kind of markets, but if you do give it some thought . over the last two seasons I have sold many images and it has been a very worth while effort. Also from your presentation people see all that you may have to offer, I have booked weddings, portrait shoots, private lessons ect so for me it has been great exposure and a significant part of my business. Just my 2 cents worth. I wish you every succsess.
I been looking for a printer for sometime now and i decided to get the pro 10 until i saw this. I took your word for it and purchased the same printer you have here and its bang on. I can't see the pro 10 being much better.
I love these video's your expressions are such brutal truth when doing these one handed :D laughing with you mate not at you, but they make for classic viewing top draw!
I looked at getting a printer and doing some prints as well, but then after looking at the cost of ink, I decided against it for now. Instead, I found a place that comes highly recommended and have had a couple dozen done up. Mostly for ourselves from our bike ride around the world, but I also printed some out for family and friends that joined along and gifted them with nice frames. Cheers and interested in how the printer works out.
So what would be the difference from the PRO version? Also, any option to make prints REALLY durable with pigment inks, and adding layers of resin spray over them?
I have an important question that anybody who owns one can answer. I need to print large black areas for CD booklets im making, how does this printer do with large black areas? any lines? problems with bleeding?
Hi Chris, I believe you can set custom paper sizes up to a length of 26 inches for canon printers...using the custom paper size in the canon driver software.....can you you confirm you can with this printer?, if so you can do panoramic....
I've added a photo of a photo printed by the printer to show the quality. ru-vid.comUgkx-p39-0aeo2zzlTJzXhwlZ_zUNm1lnIci Many reviews complain about the heavy yellow tone of printed photos; avoid this by editing your photos towards the blue end of the temperature spectrum. I also suggest increasing the exposure a little when editing because photos will print a little dark if you do not.If you follow these steps to edit your photos prior to printing, your photos will look too bright and too blue on your phone but they will print perfectly.Highly recommend!
How do you find this printer now? I'm looking at a PIXMA ix6850, but I'm wondering what the cost is and how long the ink lasts? I'm looking at getting into greetings cards and invites etc so I need real good quality
Hi Chris, Thanks for you video, it has been the most useful for me in my decision to get either the Pro 100 or iP8750. I think I'm going to end up going with the iP8750 and use the money saved to buy OEM inks for it as longevity is a concern for me. Can I ask have you performed any fade tests or noticed any issues with fading? Have you ever used the refillable 3rd party inks? Again, many thanks.
Thank you pleased it helped. I haven't noticed any fading issues yet after 3 years. Yes I have tried 3rd party inks and haven't had any issues with them. I am very pleased with it.
You have to hold down the small blue button on the printer until the white power light flashes twice and then press the WPS button on your router. You will have to check your router to see which button this is.
sooo I have Chromebook and ended up calling it in. a little diff from Android, apple, etc etc. for Chromebook users: pres WPS on router then wifi button on printer (do this once you've given printer time to power up)hold middle button (printer will need paper), after 6th flash let go, moments later paper will get sucked in, when it comes out it will have specs. open web browser type the IP address (mine was 10.0.0.x.x.x.) into where you'd put website. you will be directed to a new "site" where ink levels appears and to the left are prompts to set up the printer. once prompts are fully followed open a new blank webpage and hit CTL P (Print) to test the connection and it should be ready. I've tried the obvious ways but nothing worked I.T says Chromebook is completely diff from MOST CPUs and if you have a CB give it a go. took me 2hrs of trying to restart, reroute, reboot etc etc before I called. glad I did, never would of got it...thanks for such quick response though. hope this is useful for HP CB owners
@@ChrisGouge In that case I think I might buy one. I've been thinking about trying home printing and this might be a reasonable cost option. Have you calculated the ink cost of an A3 print?
@@dougy0761 as a guide it's approximately 9p if using the standard ink but they also do XL cartridges which are more cost efficient and work out at about 5p - 6p per photo
I need to buy my first replacement inks for the 6850 after the inks that came with my printer ran out. I understand that the inks needed are numbered 550 and 551 however I've come across a grey ink with is also numbered 551 and this doesn't appear to be an ink that came with the printer originally but its sold for the same machine. Can anyone help?
Dear Chris, would you please let me know as for BW printing on this printer what inks the printer does use, just black and grey? How much does inks it take to print A3? What the resolution of BW print if I chose print to be pure BW? Thank you
@@nemotech3130 I printed about 40 letter size and several dozen 4x6s and 5x7s with the set-up set of cartridges. The grey went empty first (all those B&W test images and printing). Cyan typically goes next and then magenta and yellow and black (dye) almost together. The pigmented black goes faster if you use the printer for document printing. There are XL size cartridges available which last much longer, hold almost twice as much ink as standard and cost only about 30% more. I also find that custom profiles use up ink somewhat less. Out of the box, the printer does not seem to use inks optimally which explains the mostly magenta cast in the greys. This may vary from printer to printer! My suspicion is that consumer level printers are not very critically adjusted in the factory and generally benefit from custom profiles prepared for the actual printer, ink and paper used. Many users might not care for the extra steps and the profiling equipment and time etc.
Have you had any issues with printing Solid colors with this ? I've had this printer only a few weeks and printing photos it is great, printing just standard images on card, the solid colours come out quite speckled? Any problems ?
@@ChrisGouge ok thanks I'm a newbie to the printing side of it trying to get my head around it lol guess it would have to be one of the big boys to be able to do that aswell then.
using canon driver and custom size setting, I think the printer can handle 13" x 26.61" paper (cut from larger sheet or roll). Be prepared to feed one sheet at a time with gentle support with hands to aid the paper sheet feeding straight. A bit tricky and error prone procedure though!
5:10 I've been told to Pro100 uses dye-based inks (which can soak into the paper and look more faded) while most inkjets use PIGMENT-based inks (which look more vibrant because they sit on top of the paper). But I'm no expert.
I never used this printer but i think this applies to all canon inkjet printer. The gloss/matt paper will work, but as long as its not too thick almost all paper will work. I'm a special case as I'm a designer, but I buy all kinds of papers in the world from Japan, Taiwan etc, and even those will weird textures work, of course quality slightly differs, sometimes get a little inky but inky is really cool as well. But because its inky, the very thin office paper might be soggy first till it dries
Hi . I just got this printer. Do you know if it handles icc profiles for different kind of papers? I'm new to printing and want to print from photoshop. Thanks for the video.
@@ChrisGouge www.secretasianman.com/best-printers-for-canvas/ -- here says the printer can print on canvas. you might want to try it out. :) and if you do, please let me know the results. that will be the only factor for me to buy this printer. thanks!
Hi again Chris , have just got this printer and started printing today on it with mixed results, does it have ici profiles on it for canon papers as I can’t find them. I am using on1 raw to edit and also tried Lightroom with no luck. Any advice would be great.thanks
Hi sorry for slow response. You can get profiles for Canon papers, you should be able to get them on their website. Personally I print from Lightroom and just select 'managed by printer' as it always does a good job for me. It might take a bit of trial and error playing around with things though. When printing you usually have to raise the brightness a little for example.
@@ChrisGouge Hi Chris, just an update on my printing on Canon 8750 , I purchased 3 different photo papers from Fotospeed and downloaded the profiles for them and have been getting some ready great results but still learning. Thanks again.
It should, the canon specs are thus: Supported Paper Weights Plain Paper: 64-105g/m². Canon specialty paper (max paper weight): approx 300g/m² (PT-101)
one question, at the part that you have the printed picture hanging next to you on the wall you can see in the reflection that the camera is mounted to a tripod. Why the hell is it shaking so much? I thought that somebody is holding it the whole time
I have printed Canson Baryta (310 gsm) without any problem and even without having to move the printhead using the custom setting which increases paper to printhead gap. That said, it is best to avoid borderless printing to avoid printhead strike which can be damaging ($$$). Best to print one sheet at a time, they say!
I'm having some real colour problems with my IP8750. do you have any tips on getting RGB to come out the same colour in cmyk on this printer. like a way of making a ICC that works?
Get the ICC profiles for the printer/paper combinations. Canon provide some for their papers which I use for printing on high quality glossy paper to good effect.
For A3 those cartridges looked quite thin, just wondering how many full page prints can be done with the quality of shots you have before they start to get to a stage where they need replacing?
Canon specified an average of 150 borderless 10x15 color prints. An A3 print is 88% larger than an A6 (10x15) print. That means... with the normal cartridges you can print up to 14 A3 prints borderless and A3+ of cause even less. With the XL cartridges you can reach up to 44 borderless A3 prints... but it depends very much on what you're printing regualy.
In germany you pay around 60 euros for a complete set of XL ink cartridges so you're paying around 75 cent per A3 print and 25 cent per A6 print. Still not that bad even if you calculate the cost of paper. I recommend to buy the XL ink because with the normal one you'll probably lose money.
Hi I do prints for nurserys etc and print on 350gsm through a local printer. I want to do it myself now, would this print take that paper weight and print well? not photo paper jut a thick poster paper of 350gsm?
@@laurenarmstrong4895 Hi Lauren, did you test on 300gsm and 350gsm cardstock? I read that it takes to 300gsm photopaper but i want thick cardstock so no quite sure if that will work. :)
Hello first of all thanks for your video ....please would you tell me if print from ix6850 is as good as 8750 ? I mean is there just little difference or it is more ? Many thanks in advance. . Cheers
they change the % but is the same. www.deco.proteste.pt/tecnologia/impressoras/testes/teste-impressoras-multifuncoes/results?filter=N10404_tipo~a-cores
I have had success with canon papers, some epson papers, canson papers (using profiles freely available from them). I am guessing Red river papers would be fine too (using their profiles for ip8720 which is the N. American model # for same printer). Essentially, one can use any other brand too if you make your own profiles for *your* printer/ink and other papers. Few probably would bother to get into that!
I have to be honest I haven't tried with matte paper, I always use glossy as it fits my style of photography. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't do a great job though
Thank you so much excellent video, very well presented. Good luck with your prints on etsy I'd promote your website in the item description of your prints on etsy hopefully this will help get a following I know I'll be ordering from you again thanks for an excellent video :)
Chris Gouge Hi Chris, another question for you I just got this printer yesterday and set it up today, have not printed on it yet and turned it off only to learn from another video this can damage the printer and waste a lot of ink. Should I leave it on all the time would be grateful for your advice. Thanks again Chris.
Hi Chris, I'm in the market for my first photo printer and I don't want to sell my kidneys. I am wondering how is your experience with Canon Pixima iP8750. This will be for hanging on the walls, not for selling. cheers,
The paper I have is Canon photo paper 265gsm - I've not tested it but I believe the maximum you can print at is 300gsm (going what I've seen from Canons specs)
I'm researching into getting my own printer and was wondering if you still using this? Would you still recommend it over the 100s or 10s? I really want the quality but would prefer not to pay the price if it's possible.
I can't say whether or not I'd recommend it over those printers. Depends on your situation and what you're looking for. I am though still using the printer and are very happy with it and for my needs it is perfect at the moment. Unless I was selling a TON of prints professionally I couldn't justify the cost of the more pro printers.
@@ChrisGouge I'm looking more to print for myself and then possibly friends and family, though selling would be a nice option. Though as you are still happily using it and get some sales it sounds like it does the job! Thank you 😊
okay I'm not much smarter after the video, except that you say it's good enough to print high quality prints, but I don't really know why or to what measure
@@ChrisGouge "Cheap" does not classify by price comparison though, that just says it's lower priced. $300 is a hell of a lot of money to fork out only to find it does not work and you've just burned $300 and can't return it, that aint cheap lol. "Cheap printer" as to be viewed as is in the quality and results, not price from best buy to pawn shop that's all I'm saying.
