I picked up a refurbished R10 w/the 18-45 kit lens from Canon USA for only US$499 in early January as a backup for my R5. I'm amazed at the bang-for-the-buck! This is a great camera.
You are now the only RU-vidr who deciphers the technical data and goes into every detail, which is very helpful. I first wanted to buy the R50 with the RF 100-400mm, now the R10 is under € 1,000 in Austria. I'm now waiting for the Christmas business and cashback promotions and then I'll get a great camera and it's very cheap. 🙂
I sold my M6 II and Sigma 150-600 and bought the R10 with the 600 f11 lens. The difference in weight, stabilization, and autofocus is stupendous while keeping a great video/image quality (I prefer filming videos now). I get 2000mm in the 4k crop mode with enhanced digital stabilization.
Always good to see one of your videos. I rented an R7 and 600mm f11 lens for a few days and was impressed with its 32-meg sensor. Eye track gave false indications it was accurately tracking a few times in static situations, a surprise. But, all in all I thought the R7 was a good camera that could have been the next Nikon D500 of mirrorless cameras with reduced rolling shutter and mechanical shutter shock if offered at a higher price point. Given the funds many bird photographers invest in their gear I think and R7 Mark 2 would sell well with those rough edges smoothed out even if Canon had to charge up to as much as $2,500. Such a camera teamed with the 100-400 or 100-500mm lens would be a very tempting combination even for photographers shooting much more expensive kit.
Sorry. I'm new to this. You say a 1.4 multiplier, is that an additional lens? I'm interested in birding so I want long range without spending thousands.
Have you tested the digital zoom and digital stabilizer on the R10? I hear both giving good results. I am a sony user, but are considering the R10, with 100-400 f5.6-8 and the 600mm f11. Seems very good for travel and wildlife
My opinion no way near as good as Sonys.. FYI. It crops into the video and does not really upreze or do any type of AI that I can tell. The sony systems seem to do a pretty good job at using the 1.4x and not a noticable drop off in image quality or video. Maybe I am looking at the wrong thing on the r10 but it seems like it just crops in on the video but does not add anything more.

I have the same setup minus the x1.4, I would like to purchase the x1.4 but I'm concerned if it will degrade the picture quality. I use it mainly for birds.
Hey check out my 100-400 video. I show bird photos with the lens and adapter. Nope Looks fantastic with the 1.4. Not like the old days where 1.4 could kill image quality. Thanks for watching
ahh, so the auto focus eye tracking is better. Silent shutter mode, RF mount has VERY LONG LENSES600mm & 800mm f11 for cheap if you are a birder.. Lighter lenses and full frame upgrade ability if you want to go that path.
