@@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE so what about the hx99? I looked it up and found it used do you think that would be a good idea because I saw your video about it and I loved it.
@@channingboy6456 Yea, tough call about used cameras I cant help on that one. I always feel a bit ackward buying them. If you could totally feel safe in returning it if something is wrong. wish i could help more
The Nikon P950 is the best camera ever made for my use. I shoot from 50 yards to 300 yards and the P950 gets the job done. I don’t see me buying another camera. It was only $700 used. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. ❤❤❤
lol. Was planning on investing on it along with the Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x please let me know your thoughts I am a bald eagle wildlife volunteer and photographer
interesting but you have used the wrong camera you should of used the 100ii and its 120fps in 1080 would make a big difference but its a petty its not in 4k
Just like what someone said in the comments that I saw…the sharper image qualities have been tuff for me to capture with this cam. Been using for a short amount of time and I’m a beginner myself so I be kinda lost. Any simple tips for iso, shutter speed, f stop and your recommended settings for someone in my position?
Practice Practice. Give it time. Many of my beginner years I thought it was the camera no offense. Shooting at 720mm 1000mm and beyond is not as easy as it seems.
@@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE understood yea definitely picked up my cam more than recent years these last few months and I've been thinking it was my cam recently😂 I'll try to stay more positive and keep trying to understand the cam and photography jargon appreciate your input
Add photos throughout the video too. The end photos are amazing but for video retention adding some in there would hold my interest better. 💪 You got a new subscriber
Thank you for the video. I guess sony hx99 is the only option for now if someone want to get a new point and shoot super zoom camera. I bought a zs80 a few month ago though, since some videos mentioned the sony is too small that is not comfortable to hold it and easy to trigger button by mistake. I hope these manufactures would make more cameras like these, or just gave zs200 a tilt screen.
@@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE on my settings on the new software 1.4 its different to your video 🥲 its doesn’t give you that option of 125 as per your video
I am on the hunt for a used P950, I live near a river so when I'm out walking my dog I see eagles, pelicans and a few duck varieties - an holding a monocular against my smartphone camera isn't cutting it!
A very challenging shoot. Would there have been any point to trying a very small, portable blind or was that not an option if this was in a state or national park? Just for laughs, maybe a small square screen painted to look like you were shooting out of a car. It would be a great story if it worked. Good to see you're still doing some MFT shooting. It looked like you were using the OM System 150-600mm zoom. How do you like it?
Bruce good to hear from you. So yea, the small blind would be tough as you have to travel to get to them and the places are so big that you really have to locate them with scopes or driving miles. A smaller place where you know their given paths then the small portable blind would be the ticket. So the 150-600 is nice, It is heavy for sure more heavy than the 150-600 contemporary on the canon cameras. Sharpness, focus, IS is all there. The only drawback is the size and expense. I think OLMPUS took at heart to add another 1K in expenses to the lenses for reselling. I know it is a sigma sport with revamped internals as well. Its overall a good lenses and the King for MFT if you are serious about birding or wildlife. Most people with MFT will go with the 100-400 lenses but for me it is the ticket.
Loved the background when birds were perched on the posts! The Canada Geese were fun to watch. Nice vehicle camera mount! Thanks as always for your post, Stafford! I enjoy each and every one of them, especially the bird photography and videography...
I can't find your video you posted of the Nikon P-950 recommended settings. Did you remove that video? I really liked the information and used your recommended basic settings and am hoping I can find that video. I changed all my settings trying to capture the northern lights and wanted to reset everything on my p-950 how I had it before. Hope you can help.
ahh so , i used the 600mm and sometimes used the digital tele-converter built into the om5. I like the flexibility of using the 2x digital converter that up-sizes the images.
@@richardfink7666 sadly for me yes it is. You get extra reach, extra background separation so it looks like an apps-c or full frame when zoomed in on medium size birds and larger game. Hope this helps but the lens is BIG and heavy in comparison be warned.
hmm, hard to say i was shooting some of those shots at 2400mm and had to apply anti shake to the video... I think it does have some rolling shutter but if you add in the long distance with heat waves / cold waves and other items i think it makes it look worse if you know what I mean.
I stayed as still as I could in my easy chair, to help not scare them off. In other words, I was right there with you while watching the video. LOL Nice work..
Hey no doubt lol. I did have 2400mm with the Olympus which is kind of close can get up to 4800mm with the adapter. But I get what you are saying thanks again for watching.
Nice video. There are so many things to get right on this type of shoot. One thing that stands out for me is wind direction. If the wind is at your back they will smell you before they see you. Keep at it and I'm sure it will pay off.
Ohh man yes indeed. The wind is a killer. It is a struggle to photograph any animals that are hunted that use the sense of smell as their protection. Thanks again for watching…
amazing to see wild turkeys, great video as usual keep up the brilliant work! I live in the uk and do a lot of wildlife photography and videography but don’t upload to RU-vid, mostly Facebook reels, hopefully catching up with our local osprey later in the week 🙂
Radical, man🤙 I want to make a video like this. I really want to get a hide like yours as well. It seems to pack pretty tight. Thank you for this adventure. Seeing a Prairie-Chicken is definitely on the To Do list! 🙏
Yes, these guys are WAY louder than you would think. It feels like an mini earth quake when there are 50 of them buzzing and humming the ground. Good luck in and it is definetly worth it.
Excellent! I purchased a used P900 for $450 and take it everywhere here in Montana and Alaska. I like it for posting on the web. Max shutter speed 1/4000. Because it is relatively inexpensive I take it canoeing, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and hiking in the rain and snow. With a tripod and 2-second delay, and adequate lighting, I've taken some nice bird shots, some long distance grizzly bear shots (> 300 yards) and some nice close-up of moose in our backyard.
Hi, thanks for the great review! I’m totally new in photography and I’m looking for a good camera for safari and for normal vacation-photos. It must be easy to use and compact like this one. Do you believe I can manage this camera? Could this be a good option? I want to get the most out of the camera I get, but I just don’t feel like my iPhone can keep up anymore. Thanks in advance!!
Yes it is way better than an Iphone for sure. If you want something small there are a few options the sony hx99, the canon here and the panasonic z80. All pretty close to the same quality of images some have trade offs. There are of course stronger cameras for wildlife but if you want something that fits into your pocket these are about the only options. Hope this helps.
I’ve had my P950 for about 9 months and have struggled with learning how to use the camera in manual mode , watching this video has been so helpful . Thank you
man tough decision things change fast we do not know else is going to come out in the next few years. Id say wait it out worse case buy a mirroless camera if they stop making the hx99 or and it breaks.
Are you using the DSLR version of the 150-600 with an adapter to L-mount? If so, how's the autofocusing and in general how does that compare with using the Sigma 150-600 L mount? Being about $500 cheaper even with the adapter makes it look like a compelling option.
Auto focus with the L adapter is the same my Man. Yep you can thank me LOL. I tried both thinking the L mount $500 more would be way faster not really the case. The FPL sigma has a faster autofocus over the FP version just an FYI.
Here is Tony and his wife loving the G9ii, 5 years ago he also said that M43 cameras (GH5 etc) are dead. (Watch him eat Humble oie :-) * Today we have millions of Olympus and Panasonic users world-wide. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m031CZQUBeg.html
Just watched like the idea. Just one thing I would change. I would counter sink the washer and nut so your head sits right on the base. This would make it more stable.
Great video and info...thnx. I am just starting out and didn't have thousands to spend plus this is all in one. I see this as a great learning camera, possibly all I will need for hobby (maybe sell a few pics eventually).
Thank you very much for your very honest rewiev. I have a Nikkor 200-500 but have just bought the P1000 and was wandering if it's was a mistake I bought the P1000, but I think it was a good choise for shooting wildlife and the moon. Now I am not regreting it. Can't wait to go out there 🙂
For me it's the price, It's not horrible or anything, I am just not ready to pay for it, going to be picking it up as soon as there is a decent price for me, it's my perfect Camera. I am just happy to know it's there, hope Panasonic survives tho. If Sony were to put out a m4/3 I think pany would die that day.
