Beautiful wedding pictures, I just bought the r6 mark ii, and I'm concerned that I should of got the r5 for higher megapixels. But your r6 pics are great, just wondering what lens you used. Maybe that's all I need. I'm just a new hobbyist that wants tack sharp photos.
Thank you so much for watching and the compliments! I would stick with the r6 mkii, the af is better than the r5. The images out of that things are amazing! The lens I used the most with any of the mirrorless bodies is the rf 50 1.2. It is such an amazing lens!
Your sample wedding shots at the end of this video are fantastic. Some almost have a 3D look about them. I love how bright and sharp they are, with great skin tones.
Is R3 worth 2x more than R6 from purely money perspective? No. Is R3 the best Canon camera for weddings? Absolutely yes. Having both R3/5/6 and having used them all extensively for weddings and still using them daily, I can say R3 is superior to the other two. Better battery life, and much much better and snappier autofocus (plus the AF touch pad) and just overall snappier/more responsive camera. It's really a joy to shoot with and has nothing to do with specs. Battery life - 2 R3 batteries will last a wedding day that is 12-14 hours long easy. With R3 you can program a button to put camera to sleep without turning it off and by clicking shutter it is instantly ready to shoot, saves a ton of battery. I need 4 R6 batteries and probably around 6 R5 batteries for the same coverage. Honestly R5 is almost useless for weddings IMO because of how bad the battery life is...
I respect you opinion, i mean it is an amazing camera the r3. For weddings with all factors considered, like price, for most people I think theyre choosing a different body. I loved using my r3 and for some reason i had the most fun shooting on that body, but my combo now is the r6 and the r5. With my time with the r3 and the r5 with the battery grip, my experience was that the r5 with the battery grip lasted longer. Just my experience. Theyre all great cameras. Happy shooting friend!
Late to the party, but I’d love to know what that button customization option turns off the camera. I have my R3s set to auto off after 5 seconds of not looking through the viewfinder, but I’d love to be able to press a button instead.
Honestly… I absolutely love my R3, but would prefer my R5 for the form factor and resolution. Only reason I use my R3 more so is for 4 reasons. - Low light - AF track pad is really nice - Battery last longer for me - you can assign a button for the simulation to be turned of when using flash. Basically see what the image looks like for an ambient exposure when using flash. Hope that makes sense
Yea the r3 is a dope camera! In fact, I truly enjoyed having it in my hands and shooting with it the most. But, it didn’t have a bunch of things I didn’t need, that helped hike up its price. With all that said, I love shooting with my r5 the most, and when it’s time for reception or lower light scenarios, I use the r6.
My experience with the R3 is the same when I look at your photos to compare with R5 is that the R3 have a better roll-of in the highlights and an overall better look. Just my personal reference...
Thank you so much for the comments! Both amazing cameras. My opinion on all 3 fluctuates. I think im leaning more towards the R5 currently, as I enjoy the more megapixels in case I need to crop in.
Yea it’s strange. I’ve heard mixed reviews on it from opposing sides. I felt like I got more juice out of the r5 lol it’s the grip, but i didn’t have a controlled experiment to test the power to the T.
Great video! I find the same issue with battery life. The R5 with grip lasts all day, but R3 battery does not. A bit disappointing. But I love the combo of these two at weddings.
You say that the camera is for wild life, there are people using the a9 same price range when it came out. Also people using the A1. What an A1 used for? I am thinking getting the r3 for weddings and I use the 1DX2 already. Just don’t get why some people say they don’t like the r3 for weddings. I think it is personal preference though. Vanessa joy uses the r3 and R5. Nice work.
Thanks for the comment and the watch. I just think with all things considered, price, and the tech that is in the r3 that’s overkill for weddings, that it’s just not necessary for weddings. That being said, if ppl have the money for it, by all means get it. It’s just not my choice 🤷♂️
@@scottstocktonphotography I have seen lots of people saying that R3 is overkill for weddings but many people were using the A9 when it came out even now people are using the A1 for weddings. Even the R5 that, along with the A1 the file size is just gigantic. I know we can use CRAW but why buying an R5/A1 and use CRAW? Thanks for you comments.
someone said they got 8,000 shots on the R3 battery. maybe they shoot different power settings and are turning it off frequently etc... how many batteries do you carry?
i know no one that got that many shots on an r3 in 1 battery. I can just tell you my experience. And on a wedding day, that battery doesnt last a full day. I get more life from the r5/r6 double battery grip
My favorite lens for weddings and portraits right now is the 50 1.2. Which is funny because I used to never shoot with 50’s. I would always just use an 85 or a 35 and get in closer. But ever since I’m be gotten this rf version I’ve fallen in love with it. Tack sharp wide open as well
I appreciate the comment, I just don’t think it’s that black and white to pick the R3 over the others when you take into account all the factors like price. There’s also a ton of professionals(Vanessa Joy, Taylor Jackson, etc) who have chosen other bodies in that lineup as their preferred camera over the R3 for various reasons. That being said, I did enjoy the R3, it’s just not my preferred camera for weddings. Thanks for watching.
@@scottstocktonphotography yup. That’s your MO. Keep it. Not enough honest people here. RU-vid full of RU-vid-o-graphers pushing affiliate links and presets. Still need to rent 50 1.2.
@@angellondian7628 thank you so much! That lens is amazing! I want to get my hands on the 85 1.2. Gonna have to rent it, the 3G price is scaring me off for now.
