Papá tú sabes que te admiro, pero acá tienes problemas con el audio, los zancudos están muy altos y hay que ponerle un filtro para eliminar el siseo. A Call. Que no pude resistirlo y me interesa el tema pero mis oídos no lo aguantan.
Girl in red is holding a cigarette for the first time in her life 😅 Anyway, I'm just casually watching videos of things I will never be able to afford ;DD
Actually, Canon did make the overheating on the R5 disappear. With the latest firmware, the camera doesn't overheat anymore. You're going to run out of record time or battery before it'll overheat no matter what mode. I used to record in 4k cropped to avoid overheating because it's still a supersampled 4k (5.5k to 4k) but doesn't overheat. But now with the newer firmware, I can do the 4K fine mode (supersampled 8k to 4k) and not worry about overheating.
I own a Canon R5 since it was released, it never overheated once. And I use it intensely in real life scenarios, not making stupid tests that obviously are going to stress the camera.
I own the R5 C. I like that it has built in waveform, false color, and vectorscope plus anamorphic support. Sure, you can easily get these tools with an external monitor, but I don’t always shoot with one. I do like the FX3’s AF and especially the E-mount lenses from sony and 3rd parties. The FX3 with the 24mm GM seems like such a nice combo for gimbal work. Canon has more RF L primes in the works, but I’m assuming they’ll be huge and expensive.
@@ddoleiden yea to me the lenses and portability is starting to become a thing. I’ve had both Sony and canon, and I love using both systems but I think Sony is becoming a better choice for my needs.
I've tested R5 with the new updates and actually did a full production in 8K raw, using the R5 on all all day shoot. Overheating is a thing of the past. It doesn't overheat anymore! My next video will show how it went.
@@d1zzyb0n3 The R5C does have some advantages from a video production standpoint. 8K at 60fps (I don't need that), and the Cinema line interface in the camera, which is very handy. But the reduced battery life, and lack of IS are reasons why I don't want it. Yes, for some filmmakers, IS is more of a nuisance than an asset. I get that. But for me, it's come in handy. So it's up to you. Since the update, I can't remember the last time I worried about overheating the camera. It just doesn't happen.
One thing I would love to see if Kondor Blue would make an updated r5c only dummy battery with 9v 3amp output. Canon makes a special one (DR-E6C DC Coupler) that has the extra voltage output (27watts at 9v/3A) to power the fully 8K60P modes on the r5c. It's a tool I haven't seen any channels discuss and it could be a big help for those needing the higher framerates and don't want to rely on the PD USB-C port. I'm also curious if you tested the newer LP-E6NH vs the older E6N, as it claims to gain 14% more battery life, but I get the impression it's closer to twice the battery life over the E6N since it can output the higher wattage longer. But I haven't found many comparisons online regarding that difference.
The battery life on the 5C is framerate dependant more so then resolution, in 4k/50 I get around 45 mins from an NH battery which is totally fine, if I want it small and lightweight I just keep 4 or 5 NH's in my pocket, but there is a way to get much more standby life out of the internal battery, if you're not shooting just hit the media button and it extends the life significantly.
Took you too long to release the video 😛 thanks for sharing. I’m still using my R5C. Any new camera nowadays could be able to do a lot of hi quality works and yeah it depends on who uses the camera
The 5C is my favourite camera, it can be anything you want it to be, small and light with a bunch of NH batteries or properly rigged out, you have all the options :D
by the way, you were on point with all the points.. the r5c is not for the youtuber or vlogger who want small form factor with best battery life and Ibis and small file sizes.. its a cinema camera for cinematographers.
Not Armando, but I would choose the R3. R5 C is quite rigid for that scenario, I'm afraid it'll slow you down instead. But, if you're hired as a dedicated video person instead, I'd choose the R5 C. BTW, weird that Canon wrote it "R5 C" with the space in between.
IBIS obsolete? lol I don't know about that! I love using it on my S1H with manual and vintage lenses. I can only see it as an additional tool that you can use when needed. For those times you don't have a rig and you just want to shoot without attracting attention you get with gimbals and shoulder rigs, IBIS definitely comes in handy. Next hybrid camera I buy will definitely need to have IBIS, until then I'm sticking with my S1H.
I meant it in the filmmaking world. There's a reason why cameras like Arri and RED don't and will probably never have IBIS, it hinders the image. This is why Panasonic came out with the GH5s removing IBIS because of all the filmmakers complaining how it messed up their image.
Canon R5C is not in the same league as Arri and red (maybe Komodo). I'm not a camera scientist but I really like the image that comes out of my S1h, haven't shot on the R5C personally but from what I've seen, its not leaps and bounds ahead of the S1H in terms of image quality so I don't t follow on how IBIS messes up image quality given the S1H has IBIS. Bottom line, the R5C is supposed to be a camera you can just pick up and shoot, for it not to have IBIS makes zero sense. Given Canon's history I wouldn't be surprised if they went this route to sell you more RF lenses with IS.
@@alexcristescu8604 When you rig a camera up to a car mount, gimbal, shoulder rig, etc if it has IBIS the sensor will always move. In fact take the lens off of your S1H and wiggle the camera and you'll see the sensor move. Even if you turn IBIS off it will still wobble inside giving you unnecessary motion blur or other weird artifacts in your image. It may not be in the same league in terms of image quality but it's still a Cinema camera. It's target audience is filmmakers not RU-vidrs, that's what the R5 is for. This is why you also don't have IBIS on the C200, C500 MKII which I've owned and with the C500 MKII I'd say it's in a similar league with RED and ARRI. I've actually talked to Sony engineers and have told them to get rid of IBIS on the FX3 it's not needed. I'd rather have built in ND Filters over IBIS any day. IBIS is cool if you're a vlogger/content creator but if you're shooting something with purpose it's not necessary. Great example is Cam Mackey go check out his channel. He does a ton of run and gun with the R5C and it looks great! Because without IBIS it has a natural look and the motion is more realistic which is why I'm glad Canon left it out. What they should have done is given us a full HDMI that's blasphemy it's 2022 and nobody in their right mind wants micro HDMI. It's ridiculous that even the EOS R had Mini HDMI not that it makes it better but Micro is a step backwards!
@@alexcristescu8604 ibis cause bad wobbles in the r5 , and digital stabilization is so good these days IBIS isn’t really needed anymore. Don’t rely too much on IBIS for video
Finally the correct review of this camera!! You nailed it, you properly captured the application of the camera and reviewed it in that context. It’s been very frustrating to see so many RU-vidrs bashing this camera simply bc they are trying to use it like an A7siii. As a kid of the 5Diii generation, the R5C is a real treat!! Gonna watch your film now.
Good old Canon tradition: Don't give people everything they want just to protect their higher-end line of cameras. No internal ND, battery life of a DSLM and Micro HDMI isn't going to cut it for me when it comes to a "true" professional cinema camera...even tho everything else about the R5C would be absolutely perfect!
You made me laugh about the micro-HDMI. Originally I thought Canon only put full HDMI on their professional cinema cameras and then... hello R5C! They could have used the 1d camera series batteries since they already use those in their product lines. 7:28 You bashed Blackmagic's 20-30 minute battery then said "But in our tests, the battery life was actually outstanding" on the R5C's 20-30 minutes... 7:55 Umm... If you instead defended the Blackmagic saying the R5C is just like the Blackmagic, you power them both off your v-mount... But you kinda threw BMPCC under the rug there despite it having the same battery life. Not mentioning the BMPCC6k now has 45-60 minute battery with their NP batteries now.
So you've gerry rigged this thing up to become essentially a C70, while totally ignoring the photo capabilities... it's called a hybrid camera for a reason. At that point, why not not just use a C70? You're treating it like a cinema camera, but it created as a hybrid. The poor battery life makes this cam a failure at it's core purpose.
C70 Meh... If I wanted a Super35 camera I'd get the RED Komodo. Nobody ignored the photo capabilities, we choose to focus on the video capabilities of this camera since that's what my audience wants to know. And yes, it's a Hybrid Cinema Camera I think I said that multiple times in the video lol.
Now this sir is a camera review for cinema camera's.. I appreciate you.. So many camera reviews that don't have any substance behind it with real cinematic experience and testing to go with the words in their review. Your awesome filmmaker and youtuber.
Sooo, I came back to see if they had improved that battery life issue. The issue for me is my main camera is a C70, I was really hoping this camera would be a great b cam/gimbal camera. Having to use an external power supply kills that idea / I am still stunned they bought our a £4000 camera that runs for so little time on its own batteries. Rant over, thanks!
Something is wrong with the download files. They only show the first bit of the clip, then there's just nothing for the rest of the clip duration. Resolve just sees it as offline, Media Encoder doesn't even see the whole thing. Tried multiple downloads, zipped and unzipped from the Drive... Anyone else able to get them to work?
Amazing review ! I have a question about the raw files of the thriller : impossible to create proxies with the .CRM files in the description... Someone know why ? (It's ok with others .CRM files but not theses one...)
I won't pay 5k for a camera with a mini hdmi, no matter what other specs it supposedly holds :D Also, I don't see myself ever using/needing 8k raw, when actual large productions still use arri 2,6k prores444. There is smarter ways to lose money than extra storage space. To my needs, the camera is just overkill in some areas and lacks in others. Lastly, I don't buy the "with some tweeking, it looks like the komodo, so it's a komodo" argument. I am pretty sure with any of the large codec cameras of the last years, even a Panasonic S5 recording BRAW, you could get pretty damn close to the komodo. But I have to say I am not a photographer at all, maybe that's what makes the camera special.
What is the attachment you are using from the cage to the monitor, looks like it is stable and swivels really well, trying to recreate this for my C300 mii with shinobi 7". Thanks
No ibis? Dang.... could of had it as an option. Your justification defeats the purpose of it being for photography or run and gun. The good thing about Hybrids is having less gear to lug around or not needing as many cameras.
Hey hello Armando, nice video and super interesting as usual, do you think you can make a review about the Canon R7 it would be pretty interesting to know your opinion

Thanks for the review and bringing the new cage to my attention. Could you share what you're using to edit the 8k Raw? I'm running a 2013 MacPro still but it handles the raw from my c200 well enough, but for my R5 I have to transcode. 8k kills it, but from what I've seen many NLE still struggle with the 8k even with the newer Macs , especially if you're a premiere user as myself ; ).
Also the E mount lens selection is really nice. I have an R5 C now, but I’ve been really tempted by the FX3 for the reasons you stated. FX3 plus 24mm GM must be a dream on a gimbal. I just wish Sony would at least give it waveform and false color. Anamorphic support and shutter angle would be nice too.
Love this review!! Specially the part where the gorilla represents a decision from Canon. He He He nice! Now that Fuji launched the X-H2, I am wondering if I should remove the R5C from my wish list.
