The thing that surprises me the most is how good your Canon 85mm f1.8 performed. Back when I owned it, that thing was ROTTEN with chromatic aberrations at that aperture.

Ya most of the hype was given to the R5 Even I didn’t care to much about this R6 until I couldn’t get my hands on the R5. So I have been spending a lot of time with the R6 and it really impressed me
Eye tracking with EF 70-200 f4 - just fine. All your videos were 1/2 and more over exposed. Have seen some other reviewers move faster within the frame + spinning around to show the camera doesn't drop focus when the eye disappears. Overall good thorough review. Moved slowly - that''s good! Some reviewers are out to prove how quickly they can speak.
Great video and that AF is tremendous. I was surprised with the 50mm 1.8 lens because that is a notoriously slow focusing lens for video. It did fine on the R6.

I’m still waiting for my R6 and hope it’s everything I’m expecting of it. There seems to be much more of a love/hate with the R5 and people seem to be more on the side of loving the R6. I’m really just hoping that the 20MP is enough since I occasionally need to crop in but I’m coming from an APS-C 24MP T6S so I hoping to get a good upgrade with the R6. I have a spinal injury so the eye detection AF will be a huge help for me if it’s as good as people are saying I will be extremely happy.
One thing I’m worried about is taking photos and switching to video and not being able to shoot video because of overheating issues. I tend to switch back and forth a lot, especially when I’m with family. I don’t want to be like....hold on....let’s wait 10 min so I can take video lol.
@@Offstar-zk4qn you’re still waiting for your R6? I love the tech and autofocus but could really use some additional megapixels (I’ve had it for a couple months now). Maybe if I get a new RF “L” series lens that costs as much as the camera I’ll get some better images but who knows. I’m currently using the 24-70mm F4 L series and it’s pretty good but I’d like a F2.8.
Haha I would have but it was hard judge my exposure when I was 3-15 feet away from the camera. Plus the sun keep coming out behind the clouds and that would over expose the shot as you can see! Thanks for watching!
nice review - but you made it very easy by slow movements and short distance - quicker motion and going further back and faster moving forward and more radical motion would have been better - the nifty 50 is not known as fast in focusing so with faster motion I have a feeling it would showed up its weaknesses
I have an EF 85 mm F/1.4 IS L lens adapted to the R6. For some reason, it's not doing that great tracking my eyes. I'm just wondering if I have done something wrong with the settings. If that old 70-200 did such a great job I can't imagine why the 85 1.4 won't be as good... Any thoughts?
Hey, thanks for these tests/reviews. I did have a question regarding the R6. Do you think the sharpness/low light factor of this camera is worth the upgrade of the EOS R? I am in a dilemma because I have 2 of the RF lenses, and I'm wondering if I am holding these lenses back by sticking with the EOS R. I do 70% video and 30% photo, so I am mostly speaking of video features. Is the 1080P on the R6 better on the EOS R, or should I only consider upgrading for the 4K features? Another thing I am worried about is the lack of ALL-I codec. I am wondering if the ALL-I in the EOS R would make it better than the R6 for 1080 video. OH yeah, subscribed!
You generally shoot at higher exposure to capture more detail in the dark areas then you drop the exposure in post but some forget to lower it or they have screen which makes it look dark enough so it looks like that for you.
Can you do a review on the budget lens on the canon r6? I currently own it with the 35mm rf 1.8 but thinking of getting the ef 50mm 1.8 & ef 85mm 1.8 to get a budget lens set together. I just would like to hear your opinions and how well these lens would function. Bang for buck quality, noise, and overall use! Thanks so much for reading!
I have the Panasonic GH5, but the autofocus is complete garbage. I want a camera shooting 2160p60, but 30 minute record times is really sad. I've never had any issues with my GH5 on for hours at a time
I’m pretty sure the was using eye af when he was moving around with all the different lenses. He says multiple times that he hopes it’s still on his eye but cannot tell cause he’s unable to clearly see the viewfinder. As for the lenses. Yes RF lenses are expensive.. so as someone who cannot justify the purchase of RF lenses sometimes.. it’s refreshing to see someone reviewing older lenses on these newer bodies On that note I’m gonna be interested to see how the RF 85Mm f/2 stacks up to the older EF 85mm f/1.8.
