I got mine on Thursday and used it today, Saturday, to shoot an engagement session. I planned on using it as my second body to my trusty 5DM3, which I have 2 and have used for 10 years. I was impressed with the auto focus and eye tracking right out of the gate. I setup the camera with double back button focusing and loved the ability to lock on my subject and then reframe. It allowed me the ability to scan the background and get the best frame. In the end, 80% of the photos were taken with the R6M2.

One feature you didn't mention is the ability to record RAW video externally when paired with an Atomos Ninja V or V+. While inconsequential to some, it's a great secondary feature that allows you to 6K RAW at 24, 30, or 60.

The R6 Mark II sounds incredibly versatile for photos and video. The custom modes and autofocus tracking are really handy. No wonder it's your go-to - the image quality looks great. Really interesting to learn about everything this camera can do!

Do you have problems with your viewfinder exposure doesn't match the exposure of your final photo? My photos seems to be darker than what I see in the viewfinder

I don’t use the viewfinder too often but when I do i use the histogram to know my exposure. Eyes can lie but the histogram doesn’t.

Hi, on my R7 the composition window, bubble level etc. disappears when I press record. Also there is no red frame. This is all very backward and sad as the footage itself looks very good. Is this also the case with the R6 II?

The R6 will have the blinking red square frame when recording, but will lose the level graphic when recording. I don't know for sure, but my guess is the cinema line would have the level feature active. The only time I set the level is before I record anyways because its when I'm setting up my gimbal, but it would be nice to see the level graphic if you need to adjust during a shoot. I agree!

Davinci Resolve. There is a free version that is real good, but if you find you like it buy the studio version for a one time payment of $295. It’s totally worth it and gives you more features especially editing in 10bit log. Here is a recent vid. I wonder this too. What's funny is that many review channels skipped over the R6 II and just review the R8. Even DXO STILL does NOT have an R6 II sensor review! It's NUTS! Instead they did an R8 review (even though they do all the Sony cams with the same A7SIII sensor). And as somebody who owned the 5DIV and the EOS R, I can confirm they did not have the same image quality despite all the reviewers lazily saying "they have the same sensor so IQ is the same". Even DXO showed they were different (5DIV had better IQ, less noise, and slightly better DR with no banding like the R).

Yes. Will be just as if it was on a DSLR canon but the r6 will make it look better because of the sensor.

Yes. High end lens would be the 100-500 RF L series lens. Otherwise ther is a 100-400 budget lens and 600mm and 800mm prime. The 100-500 will be the best out in f all in terms and f quality.

I’m just starting out in real estate photography/videography and I have the R6 II and the R8. Would you even consider using the R8 at all for real estate media work or just exclusively use the R6 II?

The R8 would work well. The only thing you are missing is ibis and bigger battery. If you have an IS lens then video should be decent. A used r6 II has become pretty reasonable.

Just got and thus far I’ve struggled with noise in the photos at ISO 1600 to 2000. Also images seem flat to me in Lightroom compared to my 6D mk ii

I haven’t experienced issues with flat in RAW. Make sure you importing the correct color profile in Lightroom. As for noise iso 3200 cleans up so it f you shoot above 1000 iso 3200 gets super clean.

I own both the R6II and the Lumix S5IIX. Lumix is FAR superior in terms of video. I do prefer the Canon for srills though.

Cameras used to be just photo or just video. The era we are in now you can have a high quality photo and video camera all in one. Those are called hybrids.

Hi Jared, I think this Camera works great in the Photo Department, I use the R6M1 and I don't feel the need to get the r6m2 as it seems to be more of a lateral upgrade. I did find that I was missing Dynamic Range in the CLOG3 for exposing Windows in Real Estate. The R6ii only offered a marginal upgrade in DR. I eventually got the ZV-E1 for Video, and R6M1 for Photos. But I think my best next Camera might be Sony a7IV. It has 2 more stops in Photos and slightly better DR then the ZV-E1 making this a huge Upgrade in all Departments and besting the R6ii for the same price point. I really think Canon Dropped the ball with the R6M2 letting Sony get ahead. Thoughts? I know that the NAB2024 is going on right now and Canon r5ii will be out and I'm watching closely. But Its hard to beat the convenience of the Small raw files on the R6/r6ii

I do love the small raw files of the r6 II as well. I will be curious to see what the r5 II will offer. At the same time the R5c can be bought for $3k refurbished and the dynamic range is supposed to be pretty good in xf-avc.

Not my experience at all. The R6 II beats the A7IV for dynamic range and high ISO noise for photos by a small margin. Also despite having a few fewer MP, the R6 II seems sharper than the A7IV (most likely due to AF and lens or maybe better AA filter over the sensor). Alex Barerra has a great video called "Can the Fujifilm XT-5 keep up with Full Frame? | XT-5 vs A7IV vs R6ii" that not only shows how much better the R6 II is for photos/dynamic range/ISO noise, but you can download the raws and see for yourself. The A7IV is also pretty slothy for fps getting only about 6 FPS in uncompressed raw where the R6 II gets 12/40. The A7IV still seems to suffer from the dreaded "front focus eye AF issue too". For video,the A7IV does have slightly better dynamic range because of the log format, but Clog3 in real use after grading etc isn't going to give any real world differences vs the A7IV (James Reader has an excellent comparison). But the 4k60 crop is a deal breaker for both the A7IV and S5II. The main reason I didn't buy the A7IV was because of the 4k60 crop... Sony really dropped the ball on that one and let Canon rip by them when they came out with the R6 II. The ZVE1 has serious overheating issues sadly.
