Not to worry. You need to use what works for you. If you can get the correct exposure and shoot the same style on the R6II as you did on the R3, you should be fine.
@@ClarenceslashBr6 and r6 mark ii are different cameras. I have two of each type for wedding work, and honestly they're both amazing first and second generation.
Thanks for the video, i like how you went through the features. I just didn’t like the autofocus being disappointing the way you tested it. It’s just that i don’t think testing the autofocus with a human and a manikin is really the best way to test it. But overall great video, hope you understand my opinion 👍🏼
I saw other people test and wanted to do test at another angle. I can do exactly what others done but was more curious on the actual human focusing and see which is smarter to detect . A different angle to put into the conversation but thanks for chimming in. Perhaps I will do with and without the manikin in the future.
Lee , there has been talk about an R3 Mk II . I have an R3 here Lee and I love it , it's a very good camera , the only way I would improve it is to offer a crop sensor like the old 1D series cameras used to be . The other thing that needs to be improved on the entire Canon line is to improve eye detection especially for photographing birds .
I only heard about the R1 as a high megapixel camera coming soon. There has been leaks of the image here and there and once the Olympics gets near , there will be more info on it. Perhaps that is the R3 MKII rumor you are referring to? Its been a while since Canon improved the eye tracking for birds. I mean the last time I can think of is the release of the R5. No real tweaks for a while. If there was one, then it might had slipped under my radar but yes, I will agree, new improve animal tracking is needed.

I'm new to photography and video.. can someone please explain what the heck is "internal raw vs external raw" and why I would want one over the other????
It depends on your system, your storage situation. What are you looking for. Then we get into the shadow recovery levels to the high light recovery level. Are you also on an arm chip base desktop or not because machine matters and along with your monitor screen, if you dont have a good screen to view it then you will not see the benefits. Also doing things externally will be cooler on the camera where internally can cause much heat and camera will shut down. Are you going incognito mode or will you have a crew? If your doing external then you will need to invest on v mount battery, cagest and cables. So your budget and your home system is the real question . Cheers
I'm watching this because i just bought the R8 which is basically a shrunk down R6MkII without IBIS and the idea that a camera that cheap has a sensor that can go up against an R3 just tickles me in a nice way.
The buffer test is just amazing and to me shows au real problem using the R6 mk2 in sport photography ! If you have to wait 2 ou 4 seconds between each action it's a problem !

Yes! We did testing with that combo on my instagram stories when we made this video. Worked great. I couldnt say anything bad about it. Smooth as butter

Thank you~! Yea, I was very skeptical on the 40FPS and after doing some digging, I knew something was up. I still own the R6 MKII but I dont have the same expectation as if I was shooting with the R3.
Thats a new request. Thank you for letting me know. I will be sure to do this in my R6 vs R6mkii video next. I will see if it makes a huge difference and if so it will be in the video. Also due to the length of the video, I had to trim some test out, people complain😭.
Thats the issue, its “registering”. Takes time and in a real event probably only have a split second to make a choice on your shot. The bigger issue is, the mannequin isnt a real person 😂🤦♂️.
@@theCameraVille For weddings and events where the subjects are a select few, registering makes sense, the prep doesn't take all that long. I shot a downhill slalom event last Saturday with videographers in tow, plus spectators. Out of 9,820 images, only 83 had focus issues; all 83 were me not being prepared & trying to capture it anyway. It's not that big of an issue, but in fairness, no mannequins attended the event, so you may have a point. 😄

Canon doesnt know the difference between a Human vs a plastic replica of a human, also let me add, photo, video and replica of likeness of a human. You are saying you can train it. ( by the way only up to 10 people ) . But if the scene is full of random journalistic shots then that feature is dead on arrival. Also your going beyond the topic and also supporting my claim. You are saying with a feature , you can TEACH the canon AF to focus on what you need. Im saying it doesnt know the difference between a real human and a non living thing. Same area of focus but different topics get it? You can also say " do box focus on the head of the subject you need" and call it a day. This way registering a person head isnt needed. Also 10 important people for a wedding is a small venue. But at the end of the day your talking about assisting the autofocus.
@@theCameraVille @theCameraVille each subsequent camera is going to improve as it should. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that you can set subject tracking to mitigate tracking issues. Or use the eye control feature in the R3. I seriously doubt any camera with today's technology can effectively tell the difference between a live person and a statue 100% of the time, but it will get there. R3 is an amazing work of technology, the R6 MII is borrowing and building on that. The R1 will no doubt take it to the next level.

You obviously haven’t spent much time with the Canon R3 on autofocus and tracking. Having owned both cameras, the R3 tracks much better Other than that, nice review and thx for taking your time Also most reviewers found better low light performance in the R3
@@robclougherty3948 Hi Rob, The Pentax community claims I dont use/own Pentax. They must be correct. There is many fantastic Pentax reviewer on YT today. Better than ever~!
The mechanical shutter on the R6 II is about 1-2 stops better than electronic (same with most mirrorless that are not stacked). Btw I use ISO 12800 on my R6 II all the time and it's super clean in real world use and generally needs no noise reduction at all.
@@theCameraVille True. Yeah, I don't use electronic shutter at all. To me 12 FPS is already huge (I shot with the 1D III for years as a pro and the 10 fps was already nuts).
Why would a camera company spend millions researching AF so that it can tell the difference between a human and a mannequin? LOL. Like when is this ever going to happen in the real world? LOL
It can be a poster, statue, object that resembles a human in the area can throw it off basically. Museum , fashion events , sports events and concerts. so this applies to those who are into those creative venues.
@@77dris Yup, as stated in the video, their next step is to fix this issue basically. I believe they can easily fix it by calculating the movement of a subject.
The ISO range on the new RF bodies is great. I think the extra noise we see is because how the lenses resolve. The old EF lenses resolved noise more pleasing to the eye. The RF lenses are so sharp and clinical, that the noise looks very hard and rigid. I prefer to adapt EF lenses in lower light situations for this reason. Just my anecdotal observations. 🤷♂️
