In the spring I do a lot of wildflower photography and spend most of my time laying on wet ground from March through May. I always like your videos. Those oystercatchers are really cool, love the eyes. I shoot an R7.
Great video, I have a R8 and a old ef 70-200 2.8, IS, the image stabilization is always engaged, any tips on how to disengage, until I actually want to take the photo?
Groundpod Skimmer amzn.to/47eoDiN and here's a video I did on it here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TmW3ogaZBM4.html it has a fun encounter with a red throated loon in it also. The gimbal is a Benrio GH5C amzn.to/3stEgnD There's also a skimmer I have I like also by lens coat amzn.to/46daukM
Really interesting. I've got an r7 and was contemplating getting an R5 but Scott you've got me thinking about an R8 instead. 45 v 24 MP and ibis but I'm not sure which to get!!!
If you ca fill the frame the cost savings is there. If you cant then r5 but you do have the r7. Tough choice. Go rent an R8 and r5 and test each together and see
I discovered your channel about one month ago and I really enjoy your videos about gear salted with beautiful images of wildlife and birds. Great job! How does the R8 compare to the z9 in terms of eyeAF for birds?
I love Harlequin ducks. It isn't often I find them in smooth water. They seem to really like rough water around rocks. Whidbey Island is a great place to bird here in Washington State. Harlequin ducks, Black Oyster Catchers, are among the birds that are pretty easy to find and photograph there. I go there quite often since my mother in-law lives there. I haven't seen either of those birds in the south part of Puget Sound. Northern Shovelers are among my favorite as well.
Thanks Scott Interesting to see your Harlequin Ducks and Black Oystercatchers. Coincidentally, spent yesterday photographing a flock of Pied Oystercatchers and a solitary Sooty Oystercatcher (pale pink feet and legs instead of yellow). Weather my end a bit kinder and I was crawling around in sand instead!
Thanks for the great video! Really enjoy the scenery! Your enthusiasm for observing and photographing wildlife makes your videos fun to watch. Thanks for sharing!
As I already said on your 6.000 sub post, thanks for the tips and tricks, your calm way to explain things and the hard work you put into your videos! Please take care and keep up the great work. The bird shots are amazing as always. Can't wait for another comparison of the R8 to other cams (like the R7, of which you already said they are completely different cameras). You know really how to make the best of every equipment.
Wow, you got so close to the Oystercatchers, I guess they really trusted you! It also helps to have no one else around. Nice find with the pipit. We had one at a local community garden in the Boston area this week that I was lucky enough to photograph, along with three kildeer chicks and their parents. Spring migration is much better here than last year so far!
Thanks - great video. What were - velcro strap 500mm rain protection? Tripod structure you were using - can it go a little higher? What was your rainjacket? Does it hose off if you lay in the mud? I am more inclined to bears and wolves but occasionally go down to the beach.
Links to the raincoat and gimbal are in the description of the video. And it doesn't go any higher as its made to stay low. Jacket is a SIMMS raincoat. it was discontinued last year :(
@@WILDALASKA Thanks - I found your other video with the review of the Naturescapes SKM-II Skimmer Ground Pod II. I could not find the rain velcro 500mm lens cover yet but I will keep looking.
