It makes the camera easier to hold, gives you much longer battery life and portrait orientation shutter control. Downsides - bigger and heavier. I'd recommend the Photive 3rd party, just added a link under the video.

10 seconds is the max for the time. In continuous mode shooting JPEG you can take shots as long as you hold down the shutter button, as long as you have a fast card. Shooting RAW the buffer starts to fill up pretty quick and you get fewer shots. I have a video Memory Cards Tested in Canon T4i - search that out and it details the speeds you should be getting from a good card.

Excellent info - thanks for sharing that. This is also true of the noise reduction setting, anything where the camera has to do a bit of processing will slow the FPS down.

That is tricky to show - during high speed burst with both cameras but especially the Sony(SLT) there is so little time, tiny fractions of a second) between shots that there really isn't much refocusing time that happens. The Sony's black out the screen when you do burst shots so there isn't really a way to refocus there. The Canon through the viewfinder does allow you to refocus but again this is a very short amount of time.

The M uses the slower focusing brain that is in the T4i(t4i has two focusing methods - LCD and viewfinder - the LCD is the one that relies on the hybrid sensor that is slower) and I think that would be frustrating to be limited to that focusing speed. So not really.

Aubrey - it sounds like the 50 f/1.4 would be your best bet - at 1.8 it is a SHARP lens and the colors are lovely, a good bit improved over the 50 f/1.8. I was curious how much bokeh difference I would see between 1.4 and 2.8 of the 40 - I just left you links on your youtube profile - hope that helps and I am happy to answer more questions.

I am not sure what you mean when you say "no longer active" On the first wrench menu, at the bottom is the Eye-Fi setting. Is it there? Now you should be able to enable or disable that. Let me know.

I think you are using live view? and you have quick focus turned on. So what sounds and looks like the shutter going is just the mirror and focus. Also- you do have a card in the camera, right? So turn camera to ON, set dial to green A and look through the viewfinder - take a photo. Everything work?

I am going to buy my 1st Canon DSLR by the end of the year and this helped me a lot :) just a question, on that image you showed there were some black parts flashing, I have been told thats a warning about those places being over exposed, is that true?

question... I'm considering moving up to the 70D from the t4i but I have noticed that the creative modes on the dial where the on & off switch are not all represented on the same dail on the 70D.. are they still all there but within the menu system? Or just not there?

i do mostly portraits and some street photography. I like the 50's for their wide aperture so i'm not sure the 40mm would provide enough blur for me. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Hey, PhotoRec Toby, nice video! I have a small correction. I don't know if you already figured that out, or someone already told you, but the "metering timer" actually sets how long your shutter speed will be shown, if using Av mode, after half pressing shutter, or how long it will lock your exposure settings after pressing the * button.

Hi Toby, I'm having some difficulties adjusting my exposure comp./AEB setting to the right. All of the menu options are grayed out except the bottom right side one that serves the purpose of bracketing the exposure on both sides of 'average'. What can I do to activate these other options? Being a new owner of a T4i, and having never using a DSLR camera, what would be the best memory card to use for both pic and vid ? I have a Lexar Pro 32 x 400speed. Should I look for faster or larger ? Also what the H is raw ?

Thank you so much for your tips in your vids! Just starting out and have bought a canon 700D as my starter camera. Any words of wisdom you could give me would be gratefully received! I have started straight on manual mode as i want to learn quickly!! one thing i do struggle with and thats working out shutter speed, as my maths is not the best! what i am doing at the mo is taking a pic and then just adjusting shutter to get the best pic with out really understanding it! lame i know!! You should never leave Color Space on sRGB unless you're ONLY shooting pictures for social media. AdobeRGB has a wider color range and will get you better files for pretty much anything, plus you can export the pictures as sRGB later on lightroom (but you cannot export sRGB RAW files as AdobeRGB).

That lexar should be fine. RAW is an uncompressed file format that gives you the highest quality. I talk more about it in this video watch?v=aJ4sMlJ_1HI paste that after the / in youtube[dot]com.
