In 2009 Toby started a Twitter account with the hope of answering any and all camera and photography questions the world threw at him. Soon, he realized that creating helpful content was a far better way to reach people than simply waiting for questions. In 2014 he left his full-time job to run this channel and associated blog, Facebook page, and Twitter. Toby's goal is simple: He wants to help you be a better photographer by helping you find the gear you need and the know-how to use it. Thank you for stopping by, feel free to reach out to Toby via Facebook, Twitter or on the blog.
Theres too many of these issues with Canon dslr's. Ive wasted so much time testing Canon kit over the years, due to focusing problems. I'm done. I dislike strongly companies and their complacency.
Great video even after ten years. I love the 10 - 18. I bought a metal mount replacement part for the plastic mount. I got it on Amazon and the install was easy.
I have this camera here in Alaska and love it but wish they had some of the features that my old Sony a77 had like when doing bracketing it does it in the camera and also when shooting black-and-white, you can pick what color that you want to not be in black and white love that about the 77 also it had a setting in the camera that when you took a picture, it made everything look like it was miniature or like a toy
This is very helpful. I acquired a new A7RV earlier this year, my first Sony body, (I've borrowed and used A9II and A1 prior) and have been slowly tweaking the settings to work similarly to how I've used my OM System cameras for more than a decade and I like how well these two systems compliment one another with customizations. BTW, I use the center button of the wheel, the OK button, to enter crop mode as it's pretty helpful with the A7RV (26mp more than enough) as I use it mainly with primes (11/1.8, 20/1.8, 55/1.8, and 135/1.8 so far), other than the 200-600, whereas on the 2x crop sensor OM-1 bodies I have, I use mainly pro zoom lenses. Having ready access to shoot two different fields of view with a prime on a body that already has more megapixels than I need 95% of the time, is like having a modest zoom lens where I can use the wide and tele end without changing lenses. The only other Sony FF body I'd use is the A1, with 50MP, so crop mode would still be close to the resolution I'm used to with OM System, but the two cameras are somewhat redundant for wildlife work, IMO, whereas the A7RV compliments the OM-1 cameras when I need another body for some time lapse work, group photo work, night scapes and landscapes. I will watch the other linked videos asap.
Thanks for this Toby. A great perspective of a wonderful location. I am a licensed drone pilot in Australia, but it doesn’t look as if I will get permission to fly, when I go to the Falklands, South Georgia and The Antarctic Peninsular this November. Any chance of getting some of your footage to include in my ground footage - for personal use.
I do not see only two lenses in the rf mounts for apsc an issue The t10 is an entry level camera. If someone purchases that camera and decides to get in photography more seriously later of course they may want more choices of lens Remember the apsc mount accepts full frame lenses and most serious photographers also move up to full frame I see no issues with on two lenses dedicated to this format
I went from a T3, to a 7D Mark II, and now the R10. My three Canon EF lenses (50mm, 70-200mm, 400mm) plus my AWESOME new Tokina ATX-i f2.8 100mm FF macro lens can be used with my Canon EF-EOS R adapter ($129). You didn't mention the adapter. My photographic interests were really peaked when I often noticed an interesting bird on a neighborhood utility line - turned out to be an American Kestrel- that's when one's lenses get longer and longer like Pinocchio's nose, and one's need for speed also increases, while your bank account decreases as you explore Florida's Atlantic Birding Trail. Of course it's more than just photography at that point, it's another hobby known as "Birding". Limitations of R10 - no way for D of F preview unless you touch the tiny button in front of the camera - awkward. Cannot use flash with focus bracketing/stacking, and the focus bracketing and stacking can only be done in Auto Focus. For a fellow who wants to shoot down-to-earth macro, but has old-man aches and pains, the articulating screen is a blessing, as is the Gatling gun speed of the shutter. YES, the R10 is a great "inexpensive" mirrorless camera!
I have an existing 'sports' folder on a hard drive that I want to move photos to; how do i get Lightroom to recognise that sports folder without creating a new one?
I sincerely doubt any of the rebel series had a shutter release faster than 3.5 fps, having own one myself. I believe the R10 can go up to 15fps. It's more like the XXD series mirrorless equivalent. rebels were XXXD.
I am still using my Canon Sl1. I was considering the R10 until Canon started threatening third-party lens makers. while over the last year, they have started to marginally open the gates, I cannot afford Canon's lenses, so I have been holding off upgrading. Meanwhile my iPhone 13 Pro will move to the new iPhone 16 with AI features in the next six months.
Bruce Berman from NMSU has been stalking me for months without me knowing. Not only that but he has placed hidden cameras in my bathroom and mics in my swamp cooler and other places. He has violated my privacy by spying into my home. He has admitted to taking pictures of me deficating and his family is involved as well. He has hacked numerous accounts and my electronics. And has used NMSU equipment to violate my autonomy. He has even used AED devices to hurt me and my dog while I am sleeping. Bruce Berman lives below and is also stealing my electricity. His brother has been caught following to the phone store, and there is record. Bruce also has been spotted following to my grandma's house and has been seen taking pictures of my family. I am tired of his violent antics and have chosen to speak up because I know I am not his only victim. Please be aware you might have been violated by him if you have been to his restroom or the used the restroom at his department at NMSU. You are not alone if you have been victimized by him. Please reach out to me if you need help.
Wouldn't this be a way of encouraging those who can't afford to go for the 100-500... because the quality comparison is made on close subjects... distant subjects would have given different results...
Thanks, helpful video. I set my center button on the jog wheel to focus standard, although I don’t know if it’s doing what I originally thought it does. I want it to take me back to my original focus setting but it doesn’t seem to work. Perhaps you can make a video about this feature ?😊. Sony’s documentation must’ve gotten lost in the translation, lol.
Hello, What would be the best lens for Nikon to take photos of coins, but not only coins, details of the coins such as the letters, the character's eye or other small details on the coins, sharpness is what I am looking for D5300 is what I have... If possible, give me a couple of choices to evaluate them economically, Thanks in advance
Yes it’s 2024 and I’m commenting about the long replaced a7Riii and the soon to be replaced Canon R5. I currently own both cameras. One system will be sold and while I really like the Sony (even the menu system) it will be sold in favor of the Canon. The main driver for me is ergonomics, autofocus and IBIS. No third party FF glass on Canon (for now) is a drawback but I’m good with the RF 100-500 and adapted EF lenses. As someone else commented, the R5 disappears in hand and that’s important to me. Both cameras are really excellent though and if the R5 hadn’t dropped in price so much I’d probably still be shooting the a7Riii.
TY. I'm going to take photos at my granddaughters weeding soon...My question is if I keep the camera on the auto mode do. I have to make any adjustments to my camera when shooting? And could you recommend an SD card that will work for video and photos. Plus does my camera need any software updates and where could I find that info. TY again.
What a lot of good information & so easy to follow ...well done...tell me what connection do you use to get the images from that Rolleiflex camera I see behind you onto your computer 😅😅😅
I intend to purchase the Tamron 16-300mm Nikon F Mount Version for my Nikon D5500 and Nikon D5600 for my travel photography alongside my Nikon 50mm F1.4, Nikon 85mm F 1.8, Youngnou 35mm, Youngnou 50mm and Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-F4.
I understand this lens is not weather sealed. I live in Miami Florida and I'm plannimg to use this lens outdoors which is humid most of the times. Does any of you have had experience with humidity getting inside this lens ?
