Just got a C100MK2 and getting to know it. I also have a Panasonic Lumix S1H and S5 so I am familiar with all of these concepts... I have a small learning curve to go through with the Canon ecosystem however... Why do recommend turning VIEW ASSIST off, I did not fully catch that. Is it because it affects the display of the waveform data? Can you kindly elaborate on that. Very helpful otherwise, thank you!!!

View Assist does not affect the waveform display so if, like me you expose using the waveform, you can leave it on. I've found that exposing highlights to no more than 70% in C-log gives great results in post. Also, don't forget to do an Auto Black Balance. This is something many people fail to do.
