I have an XA30 which seems similar. Is there away to connect 3 XLR microphones? That would be so ideal. If not, I also have the zoomh6, any chance I can hook that up to canon Xa30 as a way of adding the mics?

01:28. what does “line” do? Line physically skips using the mics pre- amp. Let’s say I have a mixer or any device that puts out audio and I want to input into my camera’s input that would be the setting.

I haven't used it but that's exactly my understanding. It's expecting a pre amplified line straight into the camcorder - as you might get from a mixer shooting at live event etc

So if I were streaming a live event and the sound is coming through a mixer board that's the setting I need to use?

I haven't done this yes but so take this with a pinch of salt but.... As far as I understand that's exactly correct

My canon XA seems to only accept mics that have their own battery power. Am i missing something? I got a Deity vmic. D4 and it would not record audio. A cheap 3.5 mic with a AA battery works okay. Can anyone help explain this? Thanks

Does the XLR microphone need external power or does it work with just connecting it to the camera?
@DanielSRosehill
@DanielSRosehill Год назад
The XA40 can supply phantom power... So no not needing external power is one of the big advantages!

@@DanielSRosehill Oh okay so it's just plug and play. Thanks. I'm new to all this.

Given that I've only had the camcorder a few weeks take this with a grain of salt but .... I think a very, very solid purchase. If I'd had an additional $800 to get the XA50 I would probably have done so for the 1 inch sensor. But this fit within my budget. Shooting with it is an absolute joy (I mean ergonomically, having buttons on the top handle). And the more I dig into the features, the better value for money it's starting to seem (e.g. the dual XLR and 3.5mm recording -- I'm not sure if that's even documented in the manual). I seem to be having trouble getting tag notifications on here, but feel free to drop me a line when you've unboxed and uploaded some footage with it - would love to check it out!
