Good test. We tested with a Nikon 50mm 2.0 and a 28mm 2.8 but after seeing this I start Googling and Ebaying for a 50mm 1.4 We did some tests with the new Letus35 Mini on the little Sanyo HD1000 ($700) and Sony HDR-HC7 at Global-dvcxdotxorg.
My camcorder has no "off" frame setting. I don't know much about the V1U, but my understanding is that it can record 1080 24p natively with a 2:3 pull-down pattern to tape. It's probably best to shoot in this mode if your final product is going out to film, or a 24p DVD. Otherwise, it's best to shoot in whatever the native frame mode is (60i or 30p or whatnot).
I had an interest in this lens for my V1U but from what I am seeing here I feel much better off sticking with Magic Bullet's algorithms such as Black Diffusion even though it may take a week to render a project at 1920 x 1080 24P, it is well worth it, the footage retains it's HD clarity and sharpness with the same warmth as a lens like this one.
Hi there. This camera's lens is not interchangeable, but the Letus allows you to use SLR lenses. The Letus Adapter I used is the Letus35 Filp Enhanced. Any of the older Canon SLR lens mounts (FD mounts) should fit, but I believe many of the newer digital lens mounts will not fit.
Very nice - but since I understand Japanese, the narration that had nothing to do with the visual was very distracting. Even natice Japanese don't speak in a classical Shakespear language you used - LOL. However, I got this camera about a month ago, and am still testing it out myself - it was nice to see footages up here to learn what it can do. Thanks!
@GreenPeasProductions You first have to set the camera's focus on the screen of the Letus... I usually point the Letus at a lightsource without a lens on it and focus until the screen grain is sharp (without turning the letus on). Then once you have focus, you put your lens on, and do all your focusing with the lens. My name is Kyle Drew... I don't use FB much, but I just put a message on your wall.
Actually, this recording is 60i. The 24f mode looks rather choppy. You're right that the 24f mode is not true progressive - it's just done through a 2:3 frame pulldown method. It's best probably to record all images in 60i, then convert to 24f in post using the same pulldown method if necessary.
Umm, I accidently did not record audio for this test, so I decided to dub my lines over in Japanese, and use subtitles. Hey, it works! It also adds to the "authenticity" of this test - but it's really just a joke.
hey I love to take pictures with the Canon A1 and i was wondering if you knew if there is a way to take black and white photos with it? How do I do it thanks you so much !
Hi hello KWDPRODUCTIONS, Waht type of type did you use? Can you use a mini-dv tape and still get the same qualilty for the footages that you shot? Thanks for any answer.
Hi there. I thought that this camera's lense is not interchangeable? I may be wrong. Anyway, can you show us which letus adaptor you used and what would be the best lense? I have a canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L lense. Would that work with that adaptor? Nice demo btw.
Why the hell did you put some random Japanese voiceover that has nothing to do with the English subtitles that you wrote? It's annoying and distracting. Trying to be cool or funny? Because the result was not either case. It sounds like some religious narration.
have you checked out the Sg blade ? .. instead of the letus ? why would you prefer the letus ?? . sg blade looks great and is cheaper, i am saving myself for an sg blade
