The seating layout seems like it was designed specifically to waste as much potential trunk space as possible: way more leg room than anyone needs, and side-facing jump seats that can't be used while in motion. If they'd just offer a traditional second row I'd agree with you, but then people would call it a minivan, and there's no way that Canoo can allow that.

@@eskanderx1027 Aptera isn't really an ideal urban vehicle. It is too wide and the turning circle is too big to be ideal for tight traffic. It also has a pretty big footprint compared to its interior space (though its interior is bigger than you'd expect). I have a reservation for an Aptera, but when I need to go downtown I'll take the Honda Fit.

Difficult times in terms of what? I'm interested in a second opinion. I know they run short on cash flow and then need a good plan to pay off their short-term debts. Hi Stahl, Canoo declined an on-the-record video interview so I can't add additional clarity to when deliveries will begin, which is why I quoted canoo.com, which as a few moments ago was still listing the Lifestyle Vehicle as "Launching late 2022." I agree it will be a hard price to hit, especially given the average new car price was $48,301 in August, according to Kelley Blue Book. As of a few moments ago, Canoo.com was still advertising a base price of $34,750 on its website for its Lifestyle Vehicle & still had "launching late 2022" listed. I suspect the website isn't being kept up to date since there is no indication that any type of assembly line will be ready to go this year, and plans for a battery plant were just announced last week: evrider.tv/canoo-announces-oklahoma-battery-plant-for-upcoming-evs/

@@mrspeigle1 I share your vaporware concerns, but they appear to have buy-in from Walmart and are/have located their headquarters to Bentonville, AR. I suspect they are going to establish fleet sales before moving on to consumer sales. This might benefit the individual buyer in the long run as they will have both time and the financial ability to work out the problems that occur with the release of a new product. I want them to succeed because the prototype PU truck they have would be a perfect fit for my business.

The car buying public will be waiting until there is a small utilitarian hatch back with no useless gimmicky options, a useful 100 mile range, and a $14,999 MSRP.

This was a big concern when we got our Tesla Model Y a couple of years ago. In reality, the voice controls and steering wheel dial buttons work great and at this point I never need to use the touch screen. It’s been a non-issue and when I travel and have to rent a car I now find having to rely on buttons to be MORE distracting while driving.

Yes, it is strange they allow themselves to price this aggressively. Despite that they run short in terms of cash flow, and need to solve short-term obligations and find a structured solution to establishing financial stability. It seems like they have no other choice 😕... because else no one would consider buying it. The naysayer would say that the product sells itself and that a higher price should be justified. The bookkeeper would say that they are strangling themselves financially if they find additional capital to support this unprofitable marketing operation. The long-term viewer would be a long-term optimist, and say the niche they fill in they can dominate as minivan for military, households, government, and other companies like Kingbee... and short-term pessimist about their financial situation. The farmer with an easy mind would say, you don't sell for $100 something that cost you $500. A Gary Vee would say: does it solve enough problems that are worth the price, blind spots okay fine... but does it really make me happier as a person? Yes, I feel safe, does it give more comfort, can it seduce people who initially planning to buy a traditional car, stop looking and say... Hi, I want to buy this minivan because x, y, z. The reviews here can be a good indication of the average opinion of their prospects and therefore should also be examined. Hope they use social media feedback as well.

@@davidlightman9551 a car isn't a smart phone. do you think your power drill should have a capacitive touch button for control? or a variable speed physical trigger? turns out the trigger just works better and thats why modern power drills still have them. im down for whatever works the best. for a smartphone, yes, a screen works well. for a car? a drill? howabout a cupboard? see?

You can get a turned in lease Model 3 now for about 35K Standard Range plus so around 260 miles and superchargers are a must for Uber. I use my long range model 3 for DoorDash and Uber Eats and it works amazing

I suspect most of these will be used businesses as delivery vans or service vans. The problem with the masses is that they get 'range anxiety'. Most folks won't drive more than the 80km/50 miles in a day and the 400km/250 miles they can do easily will be more than enough. A business will know it does;'t need that or will keep a few ordinary vans operating for rare special jobs. With this van you never have to go to a petrol station. Just charge overnight at the depot.

What if they move away from the dealership and proprietary model and made the vans much more open source? What would be a genius design and marketing strategy for Canoo is if they sold the vans on the premise that any mechanic or handy owner would be able to safely maintain or swap y parts on the van, and that those parts down to the computers, chips, panels, switches, etc. could be sourced or replaced with readily available parts.

That's a good point. I would imagine Canoo did it that way because their primary customer base is expected to be fleet customers.
