@@sluttymctits4496 It's a cutthroat sport with no holds barred ! These dogs are trained to be the top of their game on all levels ! Dirty pool like milk bones in the dirts and sink holes for flippers is a big part of basset racing !
Incredible athletes at, PEAK CONDITION. Laying it all on the line, risking potential career ending injuries...saucy nugget won despite recovering from one such injury the near fatal “stepping on own ear”. Either way it was top notch🥇🏆

Best attitude to have isn’t it? I love these dogs...you lose something in your house and they can sniff it out for ya if they don’t fall to sleep in the hunt, LOL
These are not just Hounds ...these are the kings of the hounds Bassets . Bassets may be hounds but they are their own things and nothing like other breeds !

Go, Saucy Nugget! Amazing run! But let's give props to Henry for sticking it out. Strong finish, bud. Heat 2 was exhilarating! Belle, Douglas, Stanley, and Norman had the eye of the tiger! But the true MVP is the announcer. This guy has the best job ever.
I just realized that these races were in MN. I'm so sad I didn't know beforehand. I'd been there faster than the hounds, which isn't saying much I know. Lol!
I keep coming back to this video for Saucy Nugget, but also to remind myself to be more like Henry -- not necessarily important to be the best, but stick it out, plod along, and finish in a very respectable fourth. My man!

I love #1 "Henry", guy looks like an old Basset just line mine, and slowly but surely he finished the race. Surprised there are a few quick ones. Thought for real that they would all peter our after the first 20-30 feet. LOL. Great video!!!
My personal favorite is the announcer...talk about enthusiasm! The third heat had me laughing so hard...one dog made it one dog almost got there and turned around...this is priceless
