I love that basset's and most hounds really have the best names for dogs in the world. Very proper and dignified, not names like muffin, or carrot and peanut. Those are hamster names. If dogs are part of the family then give them proper names or start calling your Granny spot.

Doggies speak English fluently. If ya rub sand paper on their roses, they'll say, "ROUGH, ROUGH". If yo ask 'em what's on top of a building, they'll say, "ROOF, ROOF".

My basset saved our home from a burglary. He must have licked and howled at the perp enough for him to abort. Several homes were hit that day. Ours got broken into put absolutely nothing was stolen. I like telling that story, but truth be told, the burglar probably thought he was cute and changed his mind.
It is very true. Basset Hounds always attract a crowd! When I take my Pippin out and about, she tosses her ears and slows down for admiration. She thinks she's a celebrity! (and judging from all the petting she gets, she might be right)
