Isnt it? It made me begin to learn it by my own. After around 4 or 5 months it begins to sound like his, not as well honed, but alsmot as powerful. I cant work the notes well yet but im on my way.

Ive learned throat singing and this is my favorite style just start with a hmmm and then reaar and do it high pitched enough to make a buzz sound then put your tongue on your roof of your mouth and by your top teeth

@@meguto this is exactly what i thought and think many times. I heard this first time in the north of india, dharamsala, where the tibetans are refuged. I thought it was a flute. Only after i heard khusugtun in the bbc and something clicked my head, i understood it was probably a tibetan that learned from mongolians or tuvans. Then i heard huun huur tu and i cant stop since then. Cant only explain it as something coming from another life

The harmonic series (which is what these sounds are) is literally found in all noises in nature from the sound of the wind to the chirping of the birds. So in a way you could say that it is the sound of nature itself

HOLY SHIT. Is he whistling while throat singing? That is ABSOLUTELY amazing...
@giovannibortoluzzi1384
@giovannibortoluzzi1384 9 лет назад
+Carlos R no he's not whistling at all, he's filtering the frequencies of his voice with the tongue. In this manner he can keep the fundamental going and then modulate the upper harmonics, forming a melody. Check out Miroslav Grosser's tutorials on youtube ;-) I learnt from him.

+Giovanni Bortoluzzi This is amazing, I've watched this video at least a couple dozen times now and my mind is still being blown...
@yamanpro
@yamanpro 8 лет назад
+Carlos R it's not and it is whistling at the same time, depends on your definition of whistling. he's not making the shape of whistling but technically speaking, he shapes his throat and tongue so that the air flow creates a whistle sound. like the previous reply said, he's filtering the mid ranges in a way, so you hear lows from his throat and highs from the air flowing between his tongue, throat etc. he's not using his lips to whistle but the air pressure in his mouth/throat cavity, so technically its a whistling sound but not a whistle.

musicaffionado Yeah, it's all to do with harmonics. He's filtering the overall rich sound to favour particular overtones with the shape of his mouth, resulting in both the consistent fundamental tone and then an overtone note on top based on how he filters the sound with his mouth.
