Hello Megan, I enjoy watching your channel especially since it's mostly in Cantonese with subtitles. My home dialect is Hainanese and I learned Cantonese by osmosis hanging with mom's friends and also Sunday Chinese school in NYC. Both my Hainanese and Cantonese are basically 2nd -3rd grade level, but I use Cantonese more since I live in Chinatown - in truth, I speak Chinglish. Though I'm probably your parent's age, my 2019 trip to HK & Singapore revived my desires to relearn Cantonese and Hainanese; plenty of resources for Cantonese, not Hainanese. The dilemma I'm having is that I feel the need to learn Mandarin firstly for my future travel to China and also learn simplify characters. I know my early training was in traditional characters and it would ce be helpful to read my late parent's letters etc. But from what I'm seeing on RU-vid, even Hainan Island is quickly adapting to Mandarin. So sad to see dying dialects in general, but what are your thoughts on learning Mandarin over Cantonese or vice versa?

Kind of scared to be stuck in any places outside of home and with requirements of Covid testing. Glad to see Britain and parts of Wales. Never been but looks very inviting. Would love to go one day. Visiting Britian is a good idea for you 2. You look Cacausian so you would have no problem there. Elliot has a British accent and is knowledgeable about his home country; although he looks Asian, he sounds like he belongs there.
