Hi Cantonese learners! Let's focus on 2 important words "jau5" and "mou5" in this lesson. Whether you are new to my channel, it's always good to review again and again in our language learning journey.
Remember, practice makes perfect.

I am Amanda from Hong Kong. I make easy and practical cantonese learning videos for complete beginners to intermediate level.
My full time job is a flight attendant. I enjoy studying foreign languages. My job allows me to visit many places and meet many people. So that I have more chances to practice what I have learned.
Due to the covid, I haven't fly regularly for over a year. I find RU-vid is extremely helpful for maintaining my language proficiency. One day, out of curiosity, I looked for cantonese learning channels. I was so surprised that there are so little and most of the good one are even from overseas. That's why I started "5 minute cantonese" on 2020.

Hi Amanda! I am slowly going through your old videos one at a time and learning so much. One question I have is for hing1dai6 and zi2mui6, often at the playground I suggest to my daughter to refer to new kids as ze4ze1, mui4mui2, go4go1, or dai4dai2. If we're unsure about the new kid's age, can she refer to them as "hing1dai6" or "zi2mui6"? Thank you again, love your channel.
@5minutecantonese
@5minutecantonese Год назад
That's a good question. hing1 dai6 and zi2 mui6 is only for biological siblings, very close friends. if we are not sure, we can say siu2 pang4 jau5 (kid) first and just let them play around 😂 it's an interesting question. Some parents would go for the older "go4 go1" "ze4 ze1" (but really no standard answers)

Great lesson thanks Amanda! I think there's a small error at 4:40 - the card says "bou1 him2" but I noticed you say "bou2 him2", so I looked it up and it is "bou2". I am particularly interested in this as I work in the IT department of a bou2 him2 company (my life is so rock 'n roll🤣) So can I say to my HK friends, "ngo5 zoi6 bou2 him2 gung1 si1 gung1 zok3" ?

我看倒了直播平台、一個主播唱歌好听成都人。我写评语冇問題。但是那个主播说有問題?什么問題。大陆人听不懂粤语。

Is it possible to use 有 with 咗 when using 有 as "did?" For example, could I say 我有買咗保險?

`Do you have (jau5mou5) chocolate` is straightforward, but how do you say `Did you have chocolate?`. Jau5mou5jau5?
@5minutecantonese
@5minutecantonese Месяц назад
You mean in the sense of did you eat chocolate? If so, nei5 jau5 mou5 sik6 🍫
@Phil.F.Freeman
@Phil.F.Freeman Месяц назад
@@5minutecantonese No, I actually mean in the sense of using `jau mou` to emphasize the meaning of the verb into the past, but on top of that to actually use the verb of having something while keeping the past form of having something. For example, I went to a family reunion last week and someone is asking me today about it, e.g. if I remembered to bring the chocolate for the kids and they're asking me in English like this: `Did you have chocolate with you to give the children?` (at that time in the past when there was the family reunion.). I hope it makes more sense. :)
