Canyon has set the 2023 Neuron out to be a true all-rounder. It’s a mountain bike that is equally adept on a multi-day epic or the lunchtime blitz.
It has slightly more travel than Canyon’s short-travel aggro-ripper, the Spectral 125, but less than the Spectral 29, the brand’s burlier trail bike.
But should this bike be on your radar if your garage doesn’t stretch to N+1? In this video, technical writer Luke Marshall will answer that very question.
What do you make of the 2023 Canyon Neuron? Would you rather have the Spectral? Let us know in the comments 👇

@@bikeradar Agree, I bought 2022 version and It's awesome how well it handles everything in a great ballance. Not the greatest uphill, not the fastest downhill, not the bst in technical parts, but everything done acceptable well for everyday rides. From my point of view, one of the best ballanced bikes for everyday adventures as Canyon say :) Only what I think about is how big difference is between 67 and 66 HTA.

Last year a rode a Lux Trail for a day on holiday and so, so happy I didn't go for that, such a nervous ride in comparison. @ericpeysar2593
@ericpeysar2593 Год назад
If you dont live in enduro country, then take a long look at the Neuron as it will fit riding anywhere outside the mountains. If you are between sizes even better. Id suggest upsizing on the Neuron. The increased wheelbase, stack height and reach will all make it a little more capable/stable than the size medium. Think of it as a bit of a Neuro-ectral. If it turns out to be a bit big in the reach department there should still be enough room to slip the seat forward a bit and shorten the stem, cut the bars down 10-20mm and/or roll the bars a little to dial in your fit. Really at most you would be making up for no more than 20mm between the medium and large in the cockpit.
@josephwiemken4079
@josephwiemken4079 Год назад
I am also in between a M and L. I am 71"/180.3cm tall/ 33"/83.8cm instep. What did you decide to do and did you make the right decision? I am looking at the Neuron specifically.
@mircea5013
@mircea5013 Год назад
@@josephwiemken4079 Looking at the geo charts, I'd go for an L. Especially if you have long arms like me. Being a FS bike, the reach will actually shorten when you sit on it or when the suspension is sagged. I am no expert though, just my opinion.
@mircea5013
@mircea5013 7 месяцев назад
@@josephwiemken4079 I'm seconding what I just said. I've tested one out. Neuron L for 180cm and long arms is fine, maybe even a little cramped. So for normal arm length it would be perfect. M is waaayyy too small.

@winstan we independently review the bikes and write the scripts and thoughts ourselves. Here's an example of a bad review we recently featured: www.bikeradar.com/reviews/bikes/road-bikes/superstrata-classic-review/ The fact is, most bikes nowadays are actually very good, with only small quibbles that separate the best from the rest. We think that's awesome for consumers, because you'd have to go out of your way to buy a truly bad bike!

Sounds like you have Canyon envy. This condition is easily treated by purchasing and riding a Canyon. Not only will you be cured of your condition but have a blast out on the trails. There’s not a better designed, built and spec’d bike for the money in the market. There’s a reason Canyon is positively featured across multiple reviews. Don’t fight it. @HG-Tv23

You don't feel the extra weight. If you want a less capable lighter bike with more race style go for the Lux trail but I switched to the neuron because of its higher comfort and more room for variety.
@mircea5013
@mircea5013 7 месяцев назад
You do feel the extra weight. I need to point this out, as I'm seeing everyone praising the Neuron and presenting it as an "XC"-type of bike. It's not. The Lux is extremely efficient, Neuron seems sluggish by comparison. So it depends whether you're after comfort or efficiency on the climbs. Also the DPS shock, on the bike I tested (and returned) did not offer a firm lockout, as other bikes do. To answer the weight question: it's a combination of factors, but few of them are: heavier wheels (although they're carbon), alloy bars, probably a heavier frame, tires etc.

Great looking bike. The film shows the main and probably the only strong point of this model, i.e. the super look. The advantages also include the Fox front shock absorber and frame design. After a few months of use and still appearing defects and the need to service the bike, I find that this is not a bike worth such a price. In addition, the weight of 15 kg makes it a bike not very comfortable both in everyday use and during challenges in the field. It seems wiser to choose a better model and enjoy reliable and good equipment

Why is this any more versatile than any other mtb with wheels and pedals? I can and do ride my 160/155mm Orange Alpine Evo literally anywhere. Big days out in the Peaks, bike park days, local trail laps, even riding to school with my boys. I don't need a different bike for every single eventuality. It has a seat angle and some geometry. It's also got paint and wheels. It goes along, up and down anything I point it at.
