@@leonbroekx let's just say I'm skeptical of any TT results coming out of the UK 😁 they have a habit of ommiting the fact that they're drafting off of trucks, or riding downhill
Awesome bike. A long way removed from my GT alu frame with trispokes I raced as a junior in 1999... Makes me want to get out of the pool and back on a bike!
Dream bike all day long, can't stop watching at this thing. Olli did a brilliant job with this bike. Now he can travel faster than light and be more aero than Filippo Ganna. Dr. Aero as I will call him from now on :-)
Would love to see a test to see how much faster the triathlon version is! I wonder if all your upgrades make up the difference over Marks more stock triathlon version?
Ollie, I have a feeling that you can do it! I predict that you will complete a 10 mile time trail with a personal best time of 17 minutes, 53.2 seconds.
Hi Ollie, Have you considered running an aero water bottle anyways in order to improve the aerodynamic efficiency of the bike? You know, theoretically if you put one on the down tube it should act as a fairing and make the bike faster.
I believe Alex Dowsett talked about his testing with aero bottles at one point. He said that there's pretty much no standard 2 bolt mounted aero bottle that's faster than just an empty frame, you'd only get actual gains if it was designed and integrated around the rest of the frame (like the new Colnago TT bike has)
What is the big thing about the freewheel noise? Reminds me when I was very young and we would lodge a bit card next to the back wheel so thar it got flicked by the spokes so we could imagine it was a motorbike.
I tell you to make it even faster: 1) Ditch your disc brakes and use rim brakes 2) Use tubular Campagnolo Bora wheels 3) Ditch your new 12-Speed Shimano Dura Ace Di2 and use an old 10-speed mechanical one, much lighter without the battery and you save with one less shifter 4) There's no point in riding a 10-34 cassette if you want to be fast on a straight line, just go for an old 11-25t old Shimano Dura Ace 10-speed cassette to match your mechanical Shimano Dura Ace. In this configuration you are going to be more aerodynamic, lighter and save 30k
4) There's no point in riding a 10-34 cassette if you want to be fast on a straight line, just go for an old 11-25t old Shimano Dura Ace 10-speed cassette to match your mechanical Shimano Dura Ace. He said he will change it
glad i have a mechanical SRAM rival 10 speed 1x set up on mine so.I was going to get a 58T to swap out from a 54T for Chain line,i think i may keep 54T and change cassette from 11-28 to 11-25.
I did a short 22" back in the 1960s on a standard 531 double butted road bike with Campag Record LF hubs and Fiamme tubular rims (can'r remember which tubs I rode - it's a long time ago!) on an undulating East Sussex course. How much faster would I have been riding your Canyon?
Bought a 2013 Speedmax during winter, but I will be imagining riding this one while riding it. Just close your eyes and go balls to the wall no problem
I think Canyon is ridiculous. They are a mail order business but won't let you specify the crank length, stem length, or whether or not you even want a power meter or crank. (The Shimano power meter they sell does not work properly). Ribble, Orbea, Ventum, and some other bike manufacturers are happy to do this.
Fab bike. That's not a bike for mere mortals. Only a Dr. could attain it😂 Congrats, can't wait to see you crush your goals. Loved what you said about them. The Mrs. and I watched this with our 11 year old daughter, and explained it to her. You're our daughter's Fab presenter, along with Manon. Alex and Hank are tied for 3rd❤ Godspeed, and good luck from over the pond!
The UCI legal TT first appeared in spring 2021 and was sold out shortly after being offered. One year later a slightly different spec'ed version (identical frame) appeared but I never saw it for order, as soon as it appeared it was "sold out".... wtf?? Did they manufacture 1 frame of each size? Framesize XL not being offered at all, so useless for me. But I'm happy with my (XL) CF SLX. For my hobby rides the storage solutions are better (no team car behind me). 😜 This bike should be offered as a cheaper SLX TT with frame sizes up to XL for a more affordable pricetag.
lovely machine, bummer it's raining, i remember it rained for 10 whole damn days when i bought my 1st pro race bike & i refused to ride it, mainly becuase i wanted to tweak it here & there without any dirt on it, i was like a little kid waiting for christmas, eventually the day came & the roads were washed clean & well worth the wait.
lovely bike. I'm confused by your crank length comment though. How does a shorter crank length help to open up the hip angle? Wouldn't the opposite be true? I use a shorter crank to help me get a more aggressive ride (road bike), but that's because it allows me to increase saddle height a little
Sweet! I'm hoping for 18 minutes on a 10 mile TT this year too, but I'll be in my own design velomobile! Come to the Dursley Road Club TT on any Thursday over the summer and race me!
Ollie, have you thought of replacing the 21 to 30, and the 17 &19 parts of your cassette, to be replace with aluminum spacers to save weight? Unless the TT is rather hilly, you shouldn't need more than a 16. Besides the weight savings, it would look damn cool.
Be honest - how long was the source video for this? Can we take bets? Price is right rules, closest without going over? I am going one hour and fifty two minutes.
She’s a beaut! What lights are you running though? Currently trying to find a decent front light that is aero/ small and actually visible.. rear is just chucked under the saddle. Thanks!
Ollie, I watched the Giro TT (in the rain) and a couple rider threw their chains and with a single chain ring there is not way to re-engage the chain without getting off the bike, since no front derailleur, is it worth the risk?
Still, no where on the site available. Only tri bikes. The UCI legal one in invisible? 😢 Even giving canyon a call got the answer not for sale. So where to buy the UCI legal one’s?
For ultimate drive train efficency do they have spacers that will allow you to select what rear cog gets a strait drive chain? I mean can you push the front chainring out so 14 or 13 gets a strait drive chain, but 25 is crooked as hell?
