The Canyons Endurance Run by UTMB 100 Miler was an all new 100 mile route now starts at China Wall and finishes in downtown Auburn! Head out Mitchell Mine Rd to trail 6 into Eldorado Canyon then ascend to Deadwood on the Western States Trail, past the Pump to the infamous Swinging Bridge via the Devil’s Thumb descent and challenging climb back out. At Devils Thumb turn left on loop 6, to Deadwood and rejoin the WST for a fast descent to Eldorado Bridge then up to Michigan Bluff to make the way through Volcano Canyon to Foresthill and continuing on Cal Street section. Following the Western States Trail, runners will run along the American River, past the infamous Rucky Chucky river crossing and up to Driver’s Flat. Continue on the FDL to Mammoth Bar and take the Confluence Trail to No Hands Bridge. Here the 100M route splits off to make way up the notorious K2 climb and head over to Cool, down the Coffer loop to the American River, up to the Olmstead loop and back to Cool. Leaving Cool, the course will follow the WS Trail across Hwy 49 then to Quarry trail, and up Brown’s Bar to ALT, continuing on to American Canyon down to the Quarry trail and back to the Western States Trail, across No Hands Bridge and make the way to Robie Point where runners follow the route to cross Ann Trason’s White Bridge to finish in historic downtown Auburn! Approximately 18,000 feet of vert, 22,000 of descent.
