This product worked great for me! I needed to cap off a hunter srs head, it was very VERY easy to do, effective, saved me from paying a tech, and all around the perfect solution 👌.
Well they aint 5 bucks no more on amazon. $12 plus for 5 pack on amazon. Easy way to close off but at this point expensive, I'll dig and cap off for 90 cents from home depot.
Thanks for this informative video, it was very helpful! I found these online but wasn't sure if they really worked or if they were universal across typical sprinkler brands. Too bad the price went up so drastically. This still seems like a better option than the rainbird or Hunter caps (brand and style specific), or the Hunter blank "shut off" nozzles that will still pop up. Each option is way too expensive for what it is. I guess the most cost effective is to just get a riser cap but that's much less convenient and more work. 🫤
I am surprised that there is not just a spray nozzle with no output that would do the same thing and be a little easier. I have looked long & hard & not found one.
What your looking for is called "Hunter Pro Spray Shut off Nozzle". It would work great for a temporary solution but will still pop up when the water line is activated, and the sprinkler head will continue to wear.
I'm not sure about prices in Canada but the price seems to have gone up dramatically since this video was created. Probably better from an online sprinkler supply Warehouse, but only worth it if you have other items you need to buy that can reach the minimum balance for free shipping. 😕
No good for regions that freeze in winter i don't think. Unless you drain the line feeding that head, there will likely be residual water that could freeze and expand and possibly split your line underground. Then you have a new problem.
@@amrunner4 The key for videos is keep them short. Here is my winterization for South Texas. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NQHIpECH7vk.html
Would be so much easier to just have a screw on cap for the top of the part that pops up. Tried a 1/2" PVC screw cap but it wouldn't work. Anyone know of such a part?
Yes, Hunter makes one. Like a blank nozzle. The problem is it will still pop-up when the line is activated and will continue to wear the sprinkler head. There are other caps that fit over the entire top but they're brand and style specific (Hunter PRS only works for Hunter PRS, Rainbird 1800 only for Rainbird 1800, etc). Not very convenient if you have a mix of different sprinkler heads.
The Nozzle your looking for is called "Hunter Pro Spray Shut off Nozzle" they're about the same price. Currently $4 - $7 each. Seems like they should be less than a dollar. All it needs to do is screw on and plug it up. It's exactly not complicated, I can't imagine the engineers had to work overtime developing it...
Darn lock downs and inflation. I have seen it fluctuate up and down but never to that crazy amount. 3 Months ago they were $6 a bag at sprinkler warehouse.
@@specagent999 yes prices do change in 2 years especially during covid. I guess you don’t get free shipping anymore either. And I’m glad Home Depot finally started carrying the caps
@@specagent999 are these the Rain Bird caps you're referring to? www.homedepot.com/p/Rain-Bird-Sealed-Cap-for-1800-Series-Body-1800CAPS/202262480 Do you just unscrew the top, remove the spring assembly, and put the cap on without any additional disassembly unlike the Agrifim one? Any leaks once installed?
Spending $43 just to cap off sprinkler heads is an absolutely ridiculous price. They have caps you can put right on there with no problem and spend. only a few bucks, not.$45 to cap off a sprinkler head. Got to be out of your mind to spend that kind of money to do that.
