Thank you for all your tips. Im new to embroidery and started right in on hats. Whats the best density to use on hats? We have done 2 hats and the stitching doesnt look right.

Hi Toni! It depends on the design and what kind of caps you are working with. If the stitching is not looking right it could also be a variety of reasons such as: Old needles, tiny burrs on needles, bad tension, bad digitizing/not a good design for a hat, the material of the hat itself.

When I do 3d puff I always get those bird nest and my cap is always on tight. Is there a certain needle I need to use or thread? or is it the cap? I mainly use yupoon snapbacks

Hi,What is the max size for a logo ie vertical height. I am told to keep them small.Also, we have issues with the definition of small text - are we asking too much of the machine, it appears the simpler the logo the easier it is on caps. We just did an order of 50 and used 56 caps.6 were very ordinary.Thanks

Why the center tab is loose on your hoop(<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="288">4:48</a>) . Mines are tight . Do you did that on purpose?

Hi! Actually, the center tab is a little loose because it has broken over time. This is the same cap hoop we use in the office for many trainings and it's been with us for years and years, so a lot of people have handled this hoop. But no, yours should be tight. We just used it for demonstration purposes, although it will still work as long as the sweat band falls underneath the metal tab. That is key :slightly_smiling_face:

I am running a hat design on a structured hat and the logo has two lines of text underneath and when stitched flat it looks great, when it goes on the hat the bottom line starts the same size then the letters start shrinking distorting the word. how can this be fixed?

I have an old tajima and I've been taking the screw out of one side of the large plate u slide the band under at the top and loosening the other side to angle it a bit so I can get it under. It's also a stretchy fabric with the thick white backing and my underlay is poking out a bit. Ugh..that part is the digitizing...uugh

Hi, does anyone know the name of the embroider process that 'New Era Baseball caps' use on their hats? it's raised like 5mm from the surface and a perfect finish... How is this possible?

Sometimes when I use stabilizer on my structured caps it pushes the underlay back out and makes it loose , when I take it out it stitches fine ...why is this ?

How thick is your stabilizer? Some people choose to bypass stabilizer on thick structured hats, and it works well for them. It depends on the cap and design.

My issue is color sequence. I can save my dst in one color but in the screen it’s always another color. How do I know what color will stitch first? This is my issue

Hi there, you need to follow your run sheet of your design and then chose the colors on your machine in the order they appear on your run sheet.

Question. My location of the hat seems to be too high. How do I lower where the hat is embroidered? (i have on the setting the closest to the bill). The embroidery ends up being 2" above the bill, instead of 1".

Make sure your frame parameters are set large enough and then manually move your design closer to brim using arrow keys and always trace. Don’t get too close to avoid needle breaks

HI there, it depends on the design and the type of hat. Polyester thread from Madeirausa.com is great but the thread weight will depend largely on the size of the design. Hope this helps!

What's the recommended speed while embroidering hats ?

500 to 600 stitches per minute, usually. However, you can go a little higher than 600 depending on the type of hat. Softer hats can be embroidered at 600 to 700 while more structured hats should be embroidered at 500 to 600 :)

In the video you said to sew from the bottom up and center out. Your design was sewing the fonts then the curved line under the fonts which is closer to the hat brim. Thats the opposite sewing order you just told us????

For hat embroidery it is better for the machine to start embroidering the design from the center to better stabilize the hat. In digitizing this order needs to be set.

I had this question as well. The stitching order that was mentioned in the video is not the same order that was stitched out on the hat.
