The morning before I headed out to the Midwest I was hoping to find a good bite - spoiler alert - I did!
I was fishing this morning solo when NightShiftFishing subscriber Joe M came down and joined me, then Corey who was fishing down the way came over and got in on the fun. Jigs and top water pencils were producing. In an odd twist the jigs were producing smaller fish while the larger class fish were landed on top water!

nice fishing over there-- much fun and action. i am from north germany. we here have seabass at the westcoast(: we call it Nord-see) , but they won t swim in our rivers up that high- so you are blessed with your stripers . in japan , they also have "suzuki"- not only a machine but a seabass :-) this summer i go to sylt , try catch my first. i had two on line, but they both came off, its still a challenge for me,... so- bass-o-mania around the world ! tight lines

Very cool! I certainly know how lucky I am to have the striped bass fishery here in the New England area of the US. But the fishing you’re talking about sounds exciting - good luck with your first sea bass!! I hope you catch a BIG fish!! 🎣🐟

hey - i'm curious about the jighead in the mouth of the bass at 1:04. looks like a tin squid wobblehead style but i've found very few people who make them still besides tinman and point jude. or is it an optical illusion and those are just your boga grip in his mouth

As you suspected that is my boga in the picture and not a jig. I caught that fish on the white outcast hybrid pencil that is sticking up out of the weeds above the fish at 1:04.
