@@VoyageDreams where do u plan on going? Retired? My first stop when I get one is gulfport mississippi to launch right by a pier where I grew up. Use to see those sails on horizon while sitting on pier and always dreamed of it but never got to do it. Now, 45 years later, I think I can soon........still some good cape dory 25d's out there. I like anything alberg 30 ft and under. Like the 25d because most come w a trailor, convenient even if a guy doesnt have a truck, can rent a truck to store boat

@@thehammer6675 Your plan sounds like a good one. I'm not yet near retirement, but I'm not going to waiting either; life it too short. I'll head south from the Pacific Northwest and see what comes of it. I'm still a few years from departure because there are still many preparations and family to consider.

@@VoyageDreams sounds great. I have another adventure planned. Smaller vessel like a west wight potter 19, to hang out on the Columbia River.......looks like various ports and dockage thru there like at the dalles and Arlington. And all kinds of things to do. Maybe a cape dory could go up the river, I'd have to research it. I've heard mouth of river is rough. You've got a nice adventure planned. Other way, alaska nice too, and the 25d can do it.....

Rice and fish will take you far for sure! I would stock my journeys full of rice, fish for my meat, and have some canned veggies/fruits.

I owned a CD 28. It was a great boat. But the access to the engine is terrible. That was my main complaint.

I'm in a 27 and for its size this beefy little ship packs a mean punch! Superb design!

Thanks James! I believe the owner's manual mentions screws only, but I'd certainly welcome bolts being used in addition. I'll be sure to take a closer look.

It's interesting that you say that because the previous owner left lots of deodorizers on the boat and removed the original head because of the smell. I wonder what causes the trouble on these boats.

Hi Nicolas, While I don't know how it would've worked out with the Westsail 32, I'm happy I didn't buy it. I like the much-more-easily-managed 25D, but there are a few things I would prefer different. These are: - it doesn't back-up well - the forward head area is not a space well managed / useful - the best storage spaces are all to port As I'm sure you know, all boats are a compromise, and I'm making the best with what I have for what I want it to do. Overall, I'm very happy with the 25D. It's well built and low-maintenance. I hope this helps.

Flicka doesn’t have a separate/private head, or a double berth. Cockpit is larger on CD25D as well.

Unlike the majority of production boats, the Cape Dory 25D was built with the forward area dedicated to a head without a v-berth.
