Some information on the "Peoples Train" near Muizemberg today.
Set 085 working train No 0111, the destination display says to Simons Town.
Set 081 appeared to be on test or driver training.
Set 100 was working train No 0116 to Cape Town

Having had to take this train line daily in 2017, this has made me so happy to see. The trains were so bad back then that I basically had to quit my studies as I just couldnt get there on time or even at all on so many days. Even if the delays are still there im just happy that we finally have something new and rellyable.

They have finally upped their game. The southern line is running very well again with the new train sets. The new trains also have security and ticket inspectors. Do safety has improved dramatically. Well worth supporting.

It has been positive of late with regards to the trains. Theft is a problem they need to get on top of

I see they have recently re-started weekend service as well. Badly needed - that route has massive tourist potential. Hopefully they get more sets soon and increase the service pattern a little bit.

I heard that of late, a lot of the electric cabling and signaling equipment has been stolen during lockdown and been sold for scrap metal. Is this more of a problem on routes between cities?

Pretty much stole everything in Gauteng. Even in the depots during lockdown. Cape and KZN hit badly but not the same levels
