EPIC is what comes to mind! Much to be said about safety in numbers eh! Kudos to the efforts of all who were there to land a hand. I have installed front & rear ARB air diff lockers for the “just in case” factor although I hope to never have need of them! (Touch wood) RIP Percy!
Oh my poor heart! You had me so worried for Percy and still do, looking forward to the next upload to see how he recovers. Love watching these episodes with everyone in your group, what great camaraderie you all have. My heart goes out to you too Sarah watching Percy not moving, all the best to you all.
i rerember cape york back in 2008, we bought a brand new 120 series prado and done it up. We took my dads camper trailer he got brand new bacj in 07 we hit the tracks. Best memorys man honestly its unbealivable how time flies, if my dad was still around id take him everywhere like he done to me ahah
With your mindset of not wanting to be boring, it's definitely not worth people being injured or possibly killed take nothing for granted and stay safe guys.
I have only just recently found your channel, it is great, thank you for the content. I watched the episode you discussed losses through your 12volt system. keep it up
I gotnto raise my hand and say I've swamped my fourby before on fraser island at awinya Creek. I got it running again but not for long. had to get my mates to tow me back across the island to camp in the dark with no power at all. i had an ozito spot light strapped to my bullbar to see the snatch rope. next day I had to get towed off the island. it took a week or so every day drying out and cleaning every connection I could find. finally she fired back up and it's still going today nearly 2 years after.
Well said Keelan. Knockers are easy to find mate. Most hide behind a keyboard and have never actually done anything in the real world. I took the step of installing an I-Tech 120x under bonnet on my 200 series 12 months ago after plenty of research. I did do a small heat shield. It’s been on a NT trip running consecutive 10/12 hour days hot as hell with no problems thus far. I’ve done full discharge test again after doing one when new and have found no difference. It must be said that the 120x only has 105 usable amps not 120- a well known fact. In hindsight and for anyone looking to buy don’t go past the 120x Pro. Same foot print but discharge test at almost 130 amp hours and only 100 bucks more than the 120x. Only thing mate just make sure you stick with the facts. Your old Prado N70 size wet cell deep cycle is a maximum weight of 25 kegs not 40 and the replacement didn’t seem to spend time submerged at Nolan’s Brook. She can be a killer alright. Enjoy your videos guys. Keep up the good work.
Percy is an absolute legend to battle through all that. So glad it all ended well. Scary stuff for the Y62 too. This Cape York trip is awesome guys. Keep up the great work. 👍
Good video guys love every second of it. You have lots of after care there but it is obviously done as this footage is a few weeks behind your actual schedule. Stay safe and have fun Johnny&Rene
I think I stopped breathing there for a minute guys 😮 Poor Percy did nearly drown!! Then no lights!! Arrrhhh can’t wait for the next ep. I’m actually scared for out trip now 🙃
@@SarahandKeelanTravels yep especially because where it is. If it is any reassurance we got another 4 years out of the car before we drowned it in the high country 😂😂😂
I hope your vehicle recovers guys. Nolans is always a risk. I too have clinched the cheeks when doing it each time. Looking forward to some more Cape adventures. 👍
Hi guys that Gunshot & Nolan's can be heart breaking have seen lots of carnage there over the years. Hopefully Percy will survive, electrical issues starters, alternators sensors on friends 4x4 were a on going problem. Changing diff& transmission oils is a good idea. Great content...safe travels.
Oh. My. God! Well you certainly put Percy through the wringer this time guys 😮😢 Lucky you had a few good people around you. I hope that PCU is not fried 😳 I did love the wheel waves though 😉😂🤗🤙🍻🦆
Looks like a bridge in the Malaysian Rain Forest Winch Comp. The RAM was so long one end was on and the other was off. Nice bit of work dragging you out.
Wow. That was fun. I couldn't believe how many people were gathered on the river bank. There must be heaps of people up there doing the track. But hey.....good old Percy. Thanks guys
Did you try left foot braking after the T/C stopped working? It can really help when you're without axle lockers or traction control, more as a preventive to getting stuck than a remedy though. Good fun :)
All we can is Bloody Legends. 👌👌👌. Awesome episode. Talk about a few challenges thrown in. Solid effort to keep crackin along. No lights. No power. All going on. Reckon this qualifies as EPIC guys. Love ya work 👌👌
Crickey fun and games on the telegraph track as always, at least you all got out I. One piece. Good luck with getting things dry inside your 4b. Cheers Judy
Some great 4x4 adventures, shame you got a little wet at the end, happens to all of us at sometime. Thanks for sharing. Trust you got Percy sorted. Cheers from NZ
Experience is a hard teacher. It gives the test first and the lesson afterwards. What you could have done is hook your snatch strap up to one of the other vehicles before entering the crossing and have them quickly tow you through. I'm also wondering why no one in your group used a blind?
Just watched the Ronny Dahl video on insurance and seen keelan at the start saying he will have to check if he is covered for 4x4ing I wonder if he did that before this 😄
You’d be pretty worried if you are crossing that cable tie bridge and have an unusual heavy vehicle haha. Tracks look reasonable but hard to judge by a video as I know it hides the true depth to tracks. Watching a bunch of cape stuff atm as we have every intention to take our Adventras to cape next year with a couple support 4wds in case - should be very interesting. Looks like amazing fun! Too bad on the Prado but hopefully everyone dries out clear some codes and she comes good.
That’s it haha rams went over so we did it easy but still super scary!! Track is far worse than it looks I look back at the video and it Dosnt do it justice but if you had lockers and a winch it would be a lot easier!!
In 2013 I drowned a one month old 200 series with 5000km on the clock on the tele, didnt cut the trip short just ignored all the lights on the dash for the next month and put another 5000 on the clock before the insurance job was don, 35 odd k of wiring loom lol
Poor Percy. What an amazing experience for you both and what a fantastic team to do it with. The OTT is something else 😅 poor Sarah watching Percy in the water your heart must have been racing. Roll on next vid legends ❤
Awesome and hectic, just what you expect from a trip to the tip. Thank goodness you had a bunch of mates to help out, looks like going solo not really an option on the old tele.
Well guys that was a slam Dunk , so close to conquering Nolan’s ,wonder if ya the first people to drive the track in stealth 🥷 mode after the crossing ? Ya did well 👍👍 . Quality episode as usual 🇦🇺🇦🇺
@@SarahandKeelanTravels guys Parado’s are commanding high sell prices at the moment ! Get in while the iron is hot so to speak , Older couple’s car ( not hoons and above 20 lol ) only driven around block (hahaha Australia) washed regularly ( river crossings ) low mileage for age 🤪🤪🤪
@@SarahandKeelanTravels I had mine go on me too with 0 crossings. Same vehicle as yours. I think it's common for them to go around the 10 to 15 year mark regardless.
You poor bugger Keelan swamped at Nolan's but that's why we do it take on mother nature to test us it all works out in the end love your Cape series 🙂 cheers legends
Whoa !!!!!!!!! And I thought last week was hectic. Keelan you did so well and such a great attitude despite all the dramas. And what an incredible team you had with you. I wonder if the tele track will ever get so bad that it will one day be inpassable? (seems to get worse each year).
Haha 😂 last week was a warm up 😂🤙🏽 Thanks legend! Like I said you can take it like a champ or sulk and we ain’t sulking haha! Yeah potentially! The lease has just run out so next year will be interesting!! Thanks legend
Great vid & trip episode guy’s, really enjoying the series, good possy & convoy. Percy will be fine I reckon, just needs to dry out some, maybe time for a trade-in soon for the next trip, I hate to say! Thought Keelan woulda been up for a quick Hotwire trick for spotty’s to get home, maybe they were too wet, but ya gotta do what you can when ur bush ay! Cheers guys & keep em comin!
Thanks mate!! Haha Narh we couldn’t run the spot lights mate because we had no power to run them off, maybe the secondary but didn’t wanna compromise that as it’s our only way to really live haha 😂 thanks Evan!!
Awesome adventure 😎 Love the wheel lifting , water crossing is hectic 😳 six hornets shame 😢 mate , well done over the cable tie bridge 🌉 ( lol ) good drive without lockers , winch and in 2wd . Keep the auto electrician on speed dial Greetings from south africa 👌 🇿🇦 👏
We went through in May and there was a lot of water everywhere, I can not understand why people do not put tape over the door drain holes. The seals are normally alright but the drain holes lets the water in especially the front where the comp unit sits. We also had a drowning so we disconnected all electrics and dried it all and reset the comp and all was well.
Great question mate! If you want to just go to the tip of australia just take the PDR which is a road that’s gravel all the way up! No water or crazy offroad stuff. The Tele track is just off the PDR and is a loop road. If your on the Tele track some points you can go out to the highway and skip passed hectic obstacles but this year there wasn’t many times you could turn around and not do things!!
What was the easy fix after Nolan’s? I went there a couple of weeks before you guys and the same thing happened to our mates hilux stalled out just after passing through Nolan’s!
Just curious as to why you didn’t already have a snatch strap attached to a vehicle in front driving at the same speed? Being in 2 wheel drive you’d think it would be a no brainer… unlucky! How long did it take to dry out the car??
We planned on doing this but after doing Logan’s the long deep on before thought I might be alright, only took 2 days to dry it out! Lucky got some 37 degree days
at Nolan's Brooke u could see the sand was still churned up when u crossed after everyone else with a wider wheel track than that. at least u made it out . 🏞️🛻

Hey Geoff, the alternator is 10 years old and has seen many many crossings. If you watch our other cape videos it’s probably done 10+ deep crossings plus the Gibb river road and other good tracks!
