How have you found your Jayco so far?? We are getting the same model but in a tourer as we just finished building a new shed and maximum height could only fit the tourer model. Any dramas with dust entry or water leaks? Also have you fitted any solar panels to charge the battery when free camping??
Hi Rottysaurus. The jayco was perfect we had nothing break on it apart from the microwave but that was done on the Gibb River Rd part of the trip. I did do a lot of mod's to the van about 3 months before we left such as underbody sealing - srubber vent on the roof with a foam filter to help stop the dust which worked great, the most part of the dust we had was what we had taken in with us whilst going in and out of the van which you can never stop, but the bed's food seats were all perfect. I also re-sealed everything on the van and every screw inside and out was taken out and put back in with liquid nails I think is the reason we didn't have anything break such as doors falling off etc. No water leaks at all. One thing I would do if your going on a lot of dirt is get a battery powered blower from bunnings and blow the dust of the doors and beds before opening it this will help keep heaps of the dust stuck to the van getting in when you open the doors etc, we did this when we towed over the simpson and it worked a treat, wouldn't go on dirt again without one. My van also had simplicity suspension on it from new and this plus letting tyres down to 22-25psi helped heaps. Everyone we met said the van would fall apart but it didn't and if I were to do it all again I'd go with a jayco and the cruiser no problems. You do have to take your time and travel to the conditions so if you do that you shouldn't have any drama's if you intent to go off road. We didn't have the solar panels as we took our 2KVA Honda generator with us. We were pretty much the only ones travelling in a van on our whole trip when we hit the dirt parts anyway and was I glad of it at nigh when I had a hot shower and a big bed to sleep in OH Yeah. Anyway I think you will have good times in your van just get out there and use it for me jayco's are the best value for money and the warranty is second to none.
Jason Neale - Thanks for replying. Sounds like you put alot of thought into your trip regarding the prep to your van. Ill def keep all that in mind... We cannot wait until we get away and clock up some miles on a new van... Love the vids
Excuse the ignorance but, while it does look really great out there by the river, do you have anything to look out for around there, like crocs or alligators, and what about snakes?
