that sounds very cool. tried the BSOD for the first time last season and was surprised that it wasn't super stiff. i prefer the Mega Merc as an all day ride just because it suits my style more. this sounds like a really intriguing blend.

Hi thx for all your reviews. Just destroyed my custom x 162w and hesitating for next season between staying with a X or go for a mega death. What are your recommendations ? (Charging on all types of snow in the alps)
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 4 месяца назад
Thanks! Hard to say based on the info I have about you. You are trading out that full camber pop on an ollie and spring out of a turn with the X for a more forgiving ride that floats better in powder. It's a little more bucky/bouncy in soft uneven snow as well but has better grip in hard snow. If you want to get into it more hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

I am contemplating this snowboard or the mystery edition of hometown hero. What's the difference between the two and which performs better ?
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow Месяц назад
Unfortunately I didn't try the Mystery HTH so it's hard to say unless I actually ride it. I will say that these ultra-light high end boards aren't for everyone. Sometimes you pay more to get less so make sure you are a lighter rider and you see lots of good conditions. Or you are willing to compromise stability in uneven snow for pop. Otherwise you might like the regular models better.

Thanks for the review! I have this board and now matching a binding.. Atlas Pro or Atlas? Will the Atlas Pro be hard work at low speed? Also love the Ultra for all types of riding.. Is the Ultra enough binding for this board? Im thinking maybe the regular Atlas may be a happy medium between charging on groomers, freeride, some freestyle and hitting some lines through the trees etc... Thanks!
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 7 месяцев назад
Atlas Pro will make the ride less damp but a little more responsive. Atlas will pair better if you are willing to have a little less response (still really responsive though) and be a good bit more damp/easy to ride all day. It comes down to personal preference.

Thanks for the review! Confirmed what I thought, I think I'll be getting a regular BSOD for my daily driver this season! Keen for that hard charging, damp and poppy ride for all conditions and big mountain free riding! Although I have been tempted by the Kazu for a while as well. Do you have a review of the new Kazu coming out soon? It looks so nice...but its narrower so even the 160 might be close to booting out for carving with my size 11s..
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching and if you are like me that's a good choice. Yes review is coming of the Kazu for 11's. It's in the hopper. Probably a week out. Yeah pass on the Kazu for 11's. It's not very good in powder if you like to set your board back and get easy directional float. If you like a tapered twin/centered kind of ride it's pretty fun and the new early rise in the tail makes it easier to ride switch but with less pop on an ollie or through a carve on groomers.
@caspiankai5070
@caspiankai5070 10 месяцев назад
@@thegoodridesnow awesome thanks! Yeah the Kazu seems like quite a niche board for freestyle pow riding landing switch etc but there are better all round floaty pow boards around..would consider if they had a wider version and that’s a shame about the change to the tail/carving.

Hey thanks for the great video, I have just put an order in for the 2025 model but I believe I need to go up to a 162 instead of 159. Can you recommend what size I should go? I am in between intermediate and advanced I guess, 97kgs, 185cm tall and have 9.5 to 10 US boot. Thanks in advance!
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 5 месяцев назад
Yeah 159 is good for your boot size but not weight and height. You might be better off with a 162 for your weight and height. Not sure if this is the right board for you though at your weight. It might be a little too bucky/bouncy for you even in 162. Thanks for that, I appreciate it may be a little Bucky but I think I’m happy to deal with a little bit of that with the up side being it should to be more reactive and provide more pop as well as keep it shape under weight and potentially for longer as I would like to keep it for a few good years.. and love the look of it so will be a good art piece when not on the snow lol. I was considering the golden orca also but again the Carbon build and look got me on the mega death. I’ll change my order to the 162, and considering the Burton step on boots and bindings, not sure your thoughts on them but I have seen good things. Thanks again for your assistance

What are the main differences between the mega death and mega merc? (I appreciate it's directional vs twin & slightly different camber profile) But in terms of riding style, speed, pop, catchiness, dampness?
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 9 месяцев назад
Like the pop better from the Death. Death is a little faster too. Dampness is similar. Both are pretty bucky. Merc is more forgiving. Merc is more on the mountain freestyle side of all mtn. Doesn't set back as much in powder and is made more for people that ride switch/centered more in all conditions. BSOD is more on the Freeride side of all mtn. It rides switch well but not as well as the merc and favors directional riding/set back powder riding a little better.

So if I’m new to snowboarding and am super comfortable heel to toe and riding switch already could I pick up this board? Everyone is saying no but I don’t see why?!?
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 7 месяцев назад
What makes me say no is not the price but the camber profile, flex and shape. This is not the easiest board to ride for someone learning and who wants to ride switch. So you will catch an edge more than you would other boards and it could stunt your growth as a snowboarder. You could get a much cheaper board that actually does much better for how you want to ride too. Hit me up here if you want to get the right board. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

What’s faster? Megadeth or the Ride Commissioner? Good job on the video, but i felt it was a little rushed. Your prior videos on the Mega Merc, BSOD, and Indoor Survivor, you compared other Capita boards to one another, but you didn’t do it in this one. A focused toe to toe comparison to the BSOD and MegaD would have been informative. Explain the difference in price point between two legendary Capita boards. If I am not mistaken, Tribute Lounge stated that the construction of the Megad had no fiberglass in the production. I wished you went into details about the boards production, but explained it your own words. I am still waiting patiently on that burton power wagon review. 👍🏻

Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I've been trying to shorten up the individual reviews so I have time to do more in depth comparisons like a comparison between the directional Capita Boards (Mega Death, BSOD, Mega Merc, Mercury, Kazu and Navigator. I felt like I was compromising on both by trying to it all in one review. What do you think? Commissioner is way faster. So much more stiff and damp. As described in the review, this is a lighter poppier version of the BSOD and the BSOD is way less damp than the commissioner. Working on it. One of the problems with the comparison vids is they take a massive amount of time to edit and produce so we get way behind. We work all summer and can't finish before the season starts.

@@thegoodridesnow Overall your videos are great. I love them, you are informative about the reviews, you have good b-roll footage, and honestly, i wouldn’t change much. Maybe add a background music to set the mood thats low but present. The Mega Deth video was great now that I’ve watched it a second time and took notes. If you are trying to give an in-depth review that short and you’re only focusing on reviewing the board, you did a great job. My only issue is i felt when you reviewed prior models of the board, you spent more time giving feedback and comparisons of each board with other boards. That inconsistency part to me was the minor issue. I believe in your last BSOD, Mega Merc and Indoor Survival videos, you made comparisons of each boards to other Capita boards. I believe those videos were in-depth videos of those boards. You provided less commentary and comparisons in this Mega Deth Video . If your going to make focus videos on a board than just consistently do it, and throw out a comparison video later on, and in those videos you can hammer the nitty gritty details and comparisons of each board. If it were me, i would add other videos like full footage of yourself going down the mountain with the board you just reviewed. Let your viewers see you test the board from top to bottom in conditions provided by the slope. Viewers can see the board in action and make observations on the boards performance. Good job and keep up the work. You are appreciated. 😊

I love feedback like this! Thanks for taking the time to write this! I'll for sure take that into consideration. Especially top to bottom vids and music. Yeah I think it might be a bit rough at first coming from the older vids to the new but I think I can do a better job at both if I do one review primarily just about the board and then do another that compares all that are relevant. I found I was burning a shit ton of time filming but even more so editing when trying to compare several boards in each review. On top of that I was repeating myself over and over in each vid. Thanks!

Hey looking for a powder board that is really maneuverable and floats well I feel like I ride through trees the most so I want some that can kinda do everything with good float and maneuverability. Two board I’ve been looking at are the beta apx and the ravine select. Wonder what your thoughts are on those boards and if you have any recommendations. Thank you

Beta APX would be better in pow. Carves harder too but is more directional/set back on board. Ravine Select is more a mellower more centered freeride shape with an all mrn personality. Stale fish would be more comparable to the Beta APX. Not sure on any of these for ya. Hit me up here so I can gelp properly. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
