Fast forward 11 years and the group Pro Era is non existent, but STEEZ remains. He outweighs ALL their work if you come back. This song will never be topped by any of those members.
The line "in reality vanity is our sanity then we lose sight when we're trapped in sanity" is brilliant. He saying following social norms is what makes people think they're sane, but in reality to be sane you have to develop a personal ideology, but as soon as you're seeing through your ideology you're no longer accepting reality at face value so you lose your sight and you're distorting the world with your philosophy. it also sounds dank as shit
Steez was a genius. He died of despair, not mental illness. This young man was acutely aware of what was going on in the world around him. But I believe his work, although brief, will stand the test of time. ❤✊✌
Appreciate the comment and love for STEEZ, but let's be real, DOOM blesses his own beats haha. Either way, when I saw this in my recommended, my eyes almost popped out of my head seeing these two collabed. Amazing... RIP Young King.
I get chills knowing I’m not the only one mind blown with steez since I ran into his music in 6th grade 21 years old and him and doom r really eternal to me
I’m 25 and used to listen to him soo much my senior year of high school and the summer before. Still come back every once in a while. This one was always one of my favorites
sometimes i come back to these videos and just ponder where his career might have ended up, what producers he would have worked with. so much potential wasted, i miss him dearly.
Lionel Swank just go with the flow dont let the world bring you down to there level the world is black and white if you see grey look closer anyone that might wish to oppress us, we will gladly devour
Hate that I discovered this dude and pro era so late. Heard 1999 at a friends house. listened to that shit like 3 times through while we played gta5. Actually started listening to steez when I heard his verse on suspect and like water. I'm always fuckin late. first j.dilla, then nujabes, now steez.. either way, respect to steez.
I know what you mean... Its like i Discover new music (but when i say new music its just some underground dope shit thats already been out for like 10 years) Give Cannibal Ox - Pigeon a listen
you good daddio its better to be late than to be a radio head, steez wanted a short shot and thats just what it is, just keep spreading that hip hop knowledge
I started listening to him a few days ago, and he already took Eminems 2 year spot of my favorite rapper. STEEZ is already one of my biggest inspirations (he destroyed my writers block and I'm writing like I haven't before). Before listening to this song again, the previous time. I was almost crying out loud with tears in my eyes over his ability and potential with his smile looking at me, even smiling myself when I caught something new . I feel like I've known this guy for a lifetime but I was a little kid at the time of PE...this is also my favorite song by his btw. STEELO if your reading this I love you over 147%
hes talking about chicago the blunt game, listen to the chorus. have you ever played that game? google it and act like you know. engage in conversation cause you miss the part where he said he grew up in NY.
lol its the base name for it, they use all over the united states dude, ive been around, like a male slut, but yeah lol, well im from new york, and when i was visiting my home town in texas, they asked me if i played chicago, i was like fuck yeah, pass the blunts puto. now hold your fucking breath cause im taking my time with this two big home runs.
The fact that this was produced my DOOM blows my mind til this day...these two been such an inspiration in my life. since middle school and all the hardships. I jus wanna say PEACE TO DA GODS and hope everyone continues to flow thru life with love and willingness 👽✊🏽
"I got it locked on a indigo ribbon" An indigo ribbon is a sign of infinity and unity and is a reference to indigo children. 1.5 years since I heard this song for the first time and im still comprehending what he spits lol
Two of the most underrated lyricists and overall musicians of our era, and they both went out without the recognition they deserved. Now we comprehend. RIP STEEZ and RIP DOOM, your creations are timeless.
In reality, vanity is our sanity Then we lose sight when we're trapped in sanity Think about the two "I's" In Insanity And read between the lines, it's more to it actually
I just found out about STEEZ recently and I absolutely love his style. This song is amazing. I love the DOOM instrumental, it compliments his voice so well.
Wow, I've only just discovered STEEZ, he's fucking dope, sad that he died though, this song is blissful, could smoke all day to this, I don't think they comprehend.....
Same here. I'm an older head (lol) but I appreciate good hip hop music. Steez was a force, ahead of his time by 20 years if u ask me. On another note, I was fortunate enough to catch Jay Dee production before I realized he was the MPC god he was. Hopefully they've met, and collaborating on some stuff we weren't ready for here on earth.
In reality, vanity is our sanity Then we lose sight when we're trapped in sanity Think about the two "I's" In Insanity And read between the lines, it's more to it actually Mad lyricism..
“Lyricism isn’t appreciated in songs and I won’t dumb it down just to business smart, the beat’s cool, but it isn’t from the heart and of course your BARS JUST DON’T REQUIRE THOUGHT” is the REALEST statement ever about modern hip hop Best Rapper of all time in order are 1. Capital STEEZ 2. MF DOOM 3. Earl Sweatshirt 4. Nas 5. Joey Bada$$
I can’t help but think about what we’ve all lost. In an alternate dimension, STEEZ never left us and is the reigning GOAT. Imagine the breadth of work this dude would’ve released by now, almost 10 years gone
They gotta do something this year. Doesn't have to be new music, doesn't have to be huge just let this dudes message/legacy be remembered. He needs murals and shit at least.
"can you blame him for making an engravement? and leaving the game the same way that he came in They say we came this far from cavemen, how hard could it be to spark fire with a drumstick?" ... Holy fuck bro, way over heads..... rest in paradise STEEZ 💯💯
"Then we lose sight when we're trapped in 'sanity', think about the two i's (eyes) in 'insanity'" I think that flew over y'all heads like the birds in his first verse. That bar was hard and increased my respect for this young brother.
HipHop does need more rappers like STEEZ!!!! Mixture of flow, intelligence, complexity, spirituality, reality, meta-reality and inspiration. R.I.P. Capital STEEZ
Would've been a great to see steez and doom collaborate eye remember wen ak first dropped so inspirational the beat selections and the viberations from da lyrics he spit it actually hits your soul this is real music.
My goal is to try an bring light to the dark! High voltage like lightning that spark Fearless staring in the eye of the storm & the senses is gone but my mind isn’t lost 👁️
I've listened to this song so many times and I just picked up on a pokemon reference. "How hard could it be to spark fire with a drumstick. If the flows that I'm spitting are far-fetched." The pokemon farfetched carries around a stick (well a leek) but I can't help but smile at that line. Steez was so special man. Rest in power.🙏 #47
