Okay I keep rewatching this. The Golden Rule reprise is probably my favorite villain song in the Starkid canon (aside from maybe Kick It Up A Notch), but I assumed they wouldn't do it on the tour without Joe, and I was at peace with it. But this? Holy shit. And this isn't even about Dylan's obvious talent. It's about how, out of the entire set list for the "naughty" half of the show, this might be the most sinister. With the actor of Ja'far now singing the _evil_ version of his own song 9 years after the original run of Twisted, it just feels as if we left behind the idealistic Ja'far who started on his career path as Assistant Vizier, and check in on him *nine years later* ...only to find that he's been corrupted into the very thing he swore to protect the city from. Which is a delectably dark realization on its own...and then you realize that _this_ is basically who the ACTUAL Jafar from Aladdin was, and...ooh, that's just like poetry. It's like we're watching an alternate universe of Twisted where Ja'far became a corrupt villain, not the unsung antihero. Except it's not really an _alternate_ universe if this is who Jafar was in the original Disney film, is it? (God, just imagine being one of the citizens of Twisted, singing along Golden Rule with Ja'far before sending him off to the palace with a cheerful "Good luck, Ja'far!" And not seeing him until years later, and you find him singing _this_ version, sounding exactly like he does at 1:43, a reflection of his cruel predecessor you had once dreamed that he'd set right.)
