Capitano and Columbina might be more closely tied than I initially thought. In this video we'll be looking into Capitano's potential origins, how he became so strong and why he might be more important to the story than just his role as a Harbinger. We'll also go into Columbina's potential inspiration, her role as a guide to a young Capitano and why she'd want revenge against Celestia.

No wonder Capitano reminded me of Guts. The moment I saw him, I was like, "This dude seems so cool. I wonder if he's as cool as Guts?" And as I listened to your research about Sigurd, I kept thinking that he sounds like Guts. With the way he was born, him being an unstoppable, ravaging, warrior, and the role a blacksmith played in his life. Not to mention the constant breaking of swords. All around really cool.

I thought the same thing as I was researching him! The part about being born in a forest with their mother dying was what made me go "hmm" thinking of his similarities to Guts, really hope he's got as badass of a backstory.

If Capitano is loosely based on Sigurd, i do wonder if Bloodtainted Greatsword was one of his weapons, since it's description does seem to have the same inspiration, or just early description that happened to use the same inspiration that got more use later on for Capitano

It fits pretty much perfectly with the theory doesn't it, maybe it was a weapon he arrived with but decided to replace since his strength must end up destroying most of his swords, even the WGS near Andrius is full of huge dents and that was just a hunk of metal

Nice, it does make sense that a man for the ages would wield multiple weapons, I suppose. Although now that I think about it. I think the Black Sword might be more fitting. Also, I wonder who was the venomous dragon that the Bloodtainted Great sword refers to, it can't have been Durin since we know of his fate. Hmm, if it's not Durin, Elynas or Ursa perhaps we'll meet another of their kind in the future.

@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks Elynas did mention all the siblings, younger and older, so maybe one of those dragons is the one that was slayed, another creation of Gold. Alternatively, maybe it was just one of the dragons in Natlan, since there supposed to be a lot of them there

Capitano is definitely one of my favorite Harbingers. Arlecchino and Childe have grown on me, but Capitano has a special place in my heart.

Capitano is the "you take one look at the man and immediately want to follow him to the death" type of character. My 2nd most anticipated character is Varka, because i feel like he and Capitano are very similar in personality

You talked about the red setting sun over khaenriah but because of what we know know from the perinheri book and the crimson moon dynasty it is likely that, the previous dynasty before the eclipse. After reading that book I think theres a possibility that capitano is actually captain periheri, who was seen as undefeatable in khaenriah; As wanderer describes him as. This means that he's actually from outside teyvat, not a descender but an important figure himself. Given the orphanage of khaenriah being the original house of the hearth theres likely a large number of "alien" children that were looked after by them and are now out there in the world (if they can live 500 years of course since the cataclysm) or maybe their descendants.

I was wondering if Capitano could've been one of the people mentioned in that book too, hope we get a bit more explanation on it from Arlecchino as I've seen a few theories about her being related to it with it being an orphanage and stuff.

You nailed it with this one! That's exactly what I thought, Capitano having several identities, even though the idea seems far fetched. Something didn't sit well with me with Capitano having Abyss/Khaenri'ah and Mondstadt like design, while simultaneously being the harbinger of Natlan and his commedia counterpart being from Spain, so I thought he would be from two nations, and I thought he could be Tenoch as well, I also thought he would also have some ties with the dragons but I couldn't piece it all together like you did! Still though, the Bloodstained Knight seems to fit with Capitano too well to ignore, but that's probably because there's so much theories about him being the Bloodstained Knight that it's engraved in my mind xD, anyways what do you think about this? I also think he fits another character well which is Imunlaukr, I honestly thought him and the Bloodstained Knight were the same person, but that's going too far off the topic. Anyways, Imaunlaukr, Tenoch, and the Berserker have similarities between them, one being them portrayed as a lone wolf, with the Berserker living alone during his life, Imunlaukr being a traveler who was finding a way to save his nation and Tenoch being an exile. There are also similarities between Tenoch, Imunlaukr and Roland, all of them having this obsession to fight, and Imunlaukr and Roland having been acquainted with a maiden or princess, making them sort of a knight in shining armor type of character. But it's probably just a common knight trope/berserker trope Hoyo wrote for all of them. Imunlaukr seems the most disconnected out of all of them, since he has a clear motive and is probably from Khaenri'ah or Hyperborea or from other unknown lands and him being more "composed" than the rest of these characters. I'm not suggesting they are all the same person, but they could potentially be, just wanted to point out how many characters could fit Capitano! On a side note, you still managed to make connections between Capitano, Odin and ravens, the most intriguing part of this video for me, I appreciate the effort! But that could also mean if its true the top 5 harbinger's designs and lore are based on birds 😅, with Capitano probably being the raven, Dottore as well, Columbina's whole character revolved around a dove, Arlecchino having a swan-like design and your Black Swan theory on her and Pulcinella being a rooster. I'm excited to see what Hoyo has in store for us regarding Capitano and which route they will take for his story overall!

Yeah that gang of badasses always seemed really similar didn't they haha. Well I didn't add it in as I didn't wanna stray too off-topic but I had the thought that Roland might've become one of Capitano's Wild Hunt members, like his second in command. Maybe Capitano sort of recruits the souls of powerful warriors into his elite troops. Just a thought though with nothing backing it up really haha. Would be a nice way for us to actually meet Roland without him being a tragic Artorias type boss. I think so too but Imunlaukr might've even pre-dated Tenoch and I'd already linked quite a few characters together so didn't wanna go overboard haha, I do agree though they're all really similar in their stories and personalities. I forgot about Pulcinella being the rooster! That is really strange isn't it? Genshin do symbolically use birds a lot too so I wonder if there's a deeper meaning in there somewhere. God I cannot wait for some more Harbinger lore, feels like we should get a lot in Natlan with their endgame being in sight. I do hope they don't just cram like 4 of them into Snezhnaya's patches though.

You know, the matches of Menogias with Capitano are so evident. But the rule of the main Fatui of the new nation being native of there is always right. I don't know, i just want a tragic and dark story about him covering his face, or maybe he is empty like a nazgûl. I really like so much the character. I see him with a claymore, but i wonder which element.

hey hope you are doing okay It was definitely worth waiting for this one, you did a great job but I didn't expect anything else. I was only 6 min in and already fanboying like crazy, almost not being able to sit still forcing myself to watch until the end. I have some of thoughts about it so I hope you don't mind me starting to ramble a bit. First of all I am really glad you mentioned the Charibert/Childeberth connection. I stumbled upon this when I looked up the golden bee oracle and I found that the golden bee is the symbol of the family of monarchs Charibert and Childeberth are part of. Also Xabalanque (quoted in Neuvilette's introduction) is associated with bees maybe even transforming into one. When It comes to the Sigurd/Siegfried legend you already nailed that part. I doubt it will ever become useful since the version of the Nibelungenlied with Worms is not that well known outside of Germany but if it ever peaks your interest I literally sit right next to the source. There is a whole anual fair dedicated to it in my region with a museum full of that stuff among other things. -Now something on my own account. I sort of finished my theory I have been working on that I wanted to share with you. I haven't decided yet whether I want to post it myself or generally what to do with it but I definitley want you to hear it beforehand to not embarass myself (yep i am that anxious about it) but also more importantly you are well connected knowing what other creators are working on and I really don't want to destroy their plans. Pretty good thanks! Haha yeah some of the stuff was really exciting to find out, glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. Ohh interesting, I forgot about the golden bee stuff from Remuria too. Wonder what that could mean. Maybe something to do with Apollo as iirc he's associated with them too isn't he? Wonder if the PO is based on him or if he was another god-king or maybe shade. That's so cool! I really love history (as you can probably tell haha) so let me know if there's any obscure stuff you haven't seen mentioned you think is interesting. Always love learning new things. Hey don't worry about the last part, as long as you're not like stealing people's work everyone should be 100% supportive of you. There's only so many conclusions we can all come to about the game even when the lore is so vast so there's sometimes gonna be overlap in places. interesting so you think Capitano changed place with Pantalone in the Comedia del arte. In the original play the relationship is between Harlequin and Columbine, while being the wife of Pierrot. Do you think Pierro is married to Arlecchino we just haven't seen it? I am drawn to that they both possess a royal presence in their demeanour. Do you think they are going to adopt that part all together or turn a twist on it. I could see them go with the English version as well. In English comedies Columbine was usually the daughter or ward of Pantaloon and in love with Harlequin. The soubrette of the 20th-century musical comedy is a version of the Columbine character. They could also go with some sinister Khaenri'ah sage stuff. They do have a connection there with Capitano being from Khaenri'ah and the idea of Loom of Fate. As far as I understand Pierro invented the Fatui order but not for what purpose it is possible that they were the first travellers of this world. The adventure guild basically being bread crumb's left by the Fatui to guide the next traveller to the truth. "Ad Astra Abyssosque" That network should be run by Columbina but it's very interesting to try to figure out who she was before she joined the Fatui family. An illegitimate Khaenri'ahn princess turned into an experiment to create the next evolution of humanity. There is also the story about a traveller that falls in love with a Seelie that fits somewhere in here. The Khaenri'ah story line is what is most intriguing in Genshin at the moment. Hmm nah I doubt we'll get any real romantic relationships in the game, seems to be something Hoyo avoid. They also seem to like twisting the themes of each Harbinger too with Childe being an old man in the commedia so it's hard to tell which parts they'll keep as faithful to the original. Arle/Pierro do both have that royal presence though for sure, part of the reason I think she might have been a harmost. I imagine Columbina and Arlecchino's role will be more of a mother/daughter dynamic but not quite. Since Columbina is supposed to be dangerous but sort of innocent, I can see Arlecchino's mothering side coming out around her but then if Columbina is some eldritch god-like being I'd bet even Arlecchino is careful with her too. Yeah I wonder if Columbina could've been the Seelie that fell in love with a human from outside the world, that'd fit with her being punished specifically by PO/Celestia and if her memories were taken by them too, maybe they went a bit too far and that's why she's got that sort of innocent demeanor but is still considered dangerous due to the amount of power she has. Kinda makes her even more dangerous haha Thanks Alex, glad you enjoyed it!

Esta es una historia Azteca, la cual es muy parecida a la descripción de Columbina. Otro dato curioso es que el nombre Xochiqutzal tiene relación con Xochimilco.

Did you know? People who didn’t want war to happen are called doves - peace doves. Meanwhile those who wanted war are called war hawks. I think Columbina will have some plot along the idea of abstaining from war and helping those in need. What do you think? If she was a previous goddess of Natlan I don't see why not, though with her being sort of innocent seeming, she might come up with a solution like "if we wipe out the other side then there won't be any war" as I'm trying to figure out how she's scary but still innocent. Best I can think of is she has some incredible power but has a mindset that's different than humans (as the Jinn in Sumeru did) which makes her unpredictable. 100% want her to be playable, especially after finding out about her inspirations. A comment just before from rohankishibe8984 mentioned even more on her ties to Ichpochtli that just solidified it for me so I'm expecting we can finally get her in Natlan. Hope you win your 50/50 on her!

6:33 - 7:01 I am beyond confused by this part. Why would Capitano's mom be in exile? Did Clothar have 2 children with the Mondstadt woman? but then why would she be in exile? unless Caribert is Capitano? but even then wouldn't his mom go back to Mondstadt since that's where she's from??? but if Capitano's not Caribert and his mom isn't the same woman as Caribert's mom, wouldn't that mean his mom is the one Clothar married?

Ah right yeah that part can be a bit confusing, I'll try to explain as best I can. So Clothar having a child out of wedlock with a woman not from Khaenri'ah meant it was a scandal and the Khaenri'ahn nobles were against it. If Capitano's father was a Khaenri'ahn noble (not Clothar as this would have been 1k+ years ago) and his mother was from Natlan, perhaps the nobles of Khaenri'ah were the same or worse back then and exiled her. I think the names won't be used in the exact same way as I've linked Childe with Childebert and as far as we know, Childe isn't Capitano's son. It's just taking inspiration from a certain section of mythology/history. Sorry for the confusion!

So I have 3 harbingers already they all have different elements do you think they will give us a 4th that will be earth based? Do you think it would be him? It would be really nice to have a 4th to round out a team. Lastly would also be nice if since he's a captin HE gets a big buff for each harbingers in the party (like 25% starting from 25% for a total of 100% to double his damage) and help him solo bosses that would be very befitting would it not?

I could see him being a few elements or just straight-up physical but geo could fit with his theme of being really tough yeah. Oh that's a really cool idea, I'd love if he got a buff for having his fellow Harbingers in his team. You just made me think of the opposite too haha, him getting a huge buff for being the only character in a party could be fun depending on his kit.

I quit Genshin recently but oh my god I completely forgot about Captino and Columbina 😭😭 I might come back to get them but I really really hope they make a new model for characters with more muscle mass like Captino(?) than just using models like Tartaglia or Diluc cause obviously they don’t have the same body type. But if they use diluc’s or tartaglia’s model I am never coming back 💀

@@TheLaughingManLore Oh, I have this whole concept of it with Bennett's mother being killed, leading to Capitano entrusting Bennett to Varka while Capitano goes on a quest for revenge, which leads to his joining the Fatui harbingers. I'm expecting we meet Varka in Natlan as well, to dive into that. Which possibly leads to a father son reunion via Bennett story quest in the eventual Mondstadt expansion for the Port.

All signs point to Mr. Pants being the Liyue Harbinger but I'm not sure it's 100% confirmed.

@@styxonthesticks It's quite vague but she says "you heartless businessmen and dignitaries always with a convenient excuse to stay in the comfort of your homeland" so she's referring to a few of them and I don't think we know where Pantalone mostly resides, could be somewhere in Liyue hidden away. I didn't think of him being from Snezhnaya though, that would be interesting if there's no Harbinger from Liyue.

Probably Pantalone since in one of the artifact set it talk about a poor man and needed money so he begged to the god who created mora but his request never was answered and he was very angry about that And that how he become a villain

I see him as more of a tragic hero, sort of playing the role he knows he has to play even if some things go against his morals. Hard to say who the real villain of the story is atm as I think even Celestia's actions will have an explanation beyond them being evil/greedy.

I was thinking of it as an ancient nation similar to Deshret's civilisation or Enkanomiya but I'm not an expert on HI3 lore, is there stuff linking it to the Abyss?

@@TheLaughingManLore Im based purely off the concept of MU itself. Which seems, if anything, is more related to the Abyss, than anything else. (MU is a concept about "nothingness", in SEVERELY basic terms) I, have never played HI3, so if theres a connection there im missing, i should be corrected and made aware, thanks ^_^

@@swizzamane8775 Ohh I just looked it up, I had no idea it was a Chinese word meaning "nothing", very interesting! I was basing it off the mythical lost continent that's kinda similar to Atlantis that they use in HI3.
