I'm sharing my capsule wardrobe for fall and winter 2018! I combine my fall capsule wardrobe and winter capsule wardrobe together and am inspired to have a more minimalist wardrobe by using principles from Project 333. While I don't take minimalism to the extreme, I am a fan of simple living and like finding ways to reduce my environmental impact. Building a capsule wardrobe is a practical way for me to do this. I love fall fashion, so I'm so excited about my little fall haul and the pieces I picked up for an autumn capsule wardrobe that will transition into winter. It's been a long time since I've shared a capsule, so I hope you enjoy this capsule wardrobe 2018 edition!

My wardrobe is so minimal that I’ve never considered making a capsule. My problem is that I don’t love a lot of what I do have. I need to just bite the bullet and donate those things and go in search of nicer staple pieces that I will love. I think your aesthetic is great. The florals and combat boots remind me of my teenage years in the 90’s. It’s giving me serious Claire Danes vibes. I mean that in a good way! LOL Also, pretty please make another makeup video soon! 😊

I love all of your pieces and how confident you are in selecting things that reflect your personal style! I have a capsule wardrobe and follow the "Ten Item Wardrobe" method from Jennifer L. Scott (The Daily Connoisseur). It's not really about a specific number, just a way to be more intentional with your choices, develop your personal style and selecting quality over quantity. I love that it is better for the environment and for our family's budget too! Thanks for the inspiration!

I love Levi's high waisted jeans. I too have issues with jeans...so much so that I hardly ever wear them anymore. I hardly have a rear so I'm always tugging at them to pull them back up...no matter how tight they are. It's gotten to the point that I'm not comfortable in any jeans anymore. I stick to nice simple high waist black or navy leggings with tunics or dresses and boots in the winter and just casual dresses with sandals and flats in summer. That's my typical "uniform" now. For hanging around the house I just wear leggings and tees. I still tend to have too many clothes though and my dress styles are sort of all over the place so I really want to streamline my "uniform" a little more. Just not sure how to go about it.

For jeans not to stretch put, you can either purchase 100% cotton ones with no stretch, or when you wash your jeans hang them to dry instead of putting them through the drier. The heat in the drier causes the elasticity to break down over time which is why they end up feeling stretched out and a different sizing than when you bought them. I only recently learned this and was surprised, but it makes sense.

Comfort is everything to me. But I make sure my clothes have style too. I wear leggings pretty much every day, and like wearing loose tops and layering with jackets and sweaters. I never go out with out my hair and makeup done, and simple jewelry is always key to complete a look.

I have a huge problem with stretched out jeans. A tip I learned was not to put them in the dryer. The heat ruins the spandex in them. The best solution I've found is thicker jeggings with an elastic waist. They always stay up!

Jessica I am a cartigans and boot lover too. I loved this video your florals are beautiful I think I have a capsule wardrobe yet never called it that LOL DOES THAT EVEN MAKE SENSE 😂😂😂😂 I have certain dresses I wear all the time in the winter, my jeans are from target they are high wasted and AH-MAZING by the company Universal Thread. Then I have 2 pair of Levi's and I've had them for about 7 years. My cardigans are a black floral one, black and grey looks like a long coat and I belt it, a white one, burgundy, rust, and a black with floral down the sleeves. It gets so cold here I wear off white sweaters kinda slouchy and I have a few plaid shirts, one white and one chambray. I wear layers to stay warm. Four pair of black pants, some Blazers, Okay this is bad, Then I have 1000000000 boots. Lol I get new ones every year and that is my inner Diva lol ! Well I guess I have more than 33 pieces. My leggings are buy HUE and they are like a Corduroy jeggingI. My black leggings have that warm fleece inside. I don't wear heels anymore so my flats are like penny loafers. I guess it is not a capsule wardrobe but I have not purchased any clothes in a year. I took 5 bags to my local consignment store and they all sold. Great capsule! I love all those florals. I'm working on minimizing my giant closet (an unfortunate result of selling clothing for a living) and I love seeing what other people are doing! As far as jeans go, I've recently discovered high rise from Gap and Madewell. They are higher quality than you'll find at some of those discount stores and hold up amazingly well. I purchased mine through poshmark and thredup since I am trying to shop secondhand as often as possible and it saves money as well.

My mother used the word give to describe what suede and denim do when you get home and try on there. They give after a while of wearing them. I believe another difference is confidence. At home you can dance around more while wearing your new jeans whereas at the store you tiptoe put ( because they’re too long) and awkwardly strain to see everything in the 3 way mirror. This has been my experience anyway! I’m convinced the old fashioned non stretch denim is the best because I’ve always found with stretch - my pants fall down and I’m always holding and pulling them up. Suspenders create too much bulk but old 70 s fit Levi’s high rise stay. I’ve not worn jeans in years but I did struggle with them - hence this comment.

Maybe I should start looking for jeans with less stretch! It's just so hard to find that perfect fit.

Yes I always size down on my jeans for that very reason. I'm not the biggest fan of belts. Congrats on your weight loss I've lost the same amount of weight as you and had to buy alot of new clothes this year, so much fun 😊

I am soooo with you on the jeans that fit in the fitting room but then stretch out during the day and you constantly have to hike them back up. Drives me insane. I would love to find some that fit my body type well!

Regarding jeans stretching out quickly, I don't think that is nearly as much of an issue when buying higher quality denim, which is one of the many reasons I prefer to invest in that area.

I recommend Madewell! Love madewell... and Citizens of Humanity, but i prefer to get those second hand because they're pretty expensive. But, favorite fit ever.

Thank you so much for the recommendation! I’ve purchased more expensive denim before only to have the same problem, so I will definitely look into those two! I feel like my weight is at a much more stable place than it has been in the past, so I wouldn’t mind spending extra in a pair I love that fits great.

Thank you! I shop at a variety of places! Some of these pieces are from Ross, Target, Marshall’s, WalMart, and some are even secondhand from a consignment shop!

I don’t own many cardigans but look the look sometimes I feel like my winter coat is too snug when I have a cardigan on . Wha do you do??

For heavy coats, I typically size up to allow more room for things like cardigans and thick sweaters. If it’s still an issue, sometimes I’ll just take my cardigan off while I’m outside so i can out my coat on and out my cardigan back on once I’m indoors and take my coat off.

I'm envious that you have such a clearly defined sense of style! I feel like my closet is a hodgepodge of things I don't really like, most of which aren't even flattering on me... but I hate spending money on clothes and just buy basic things when they're on sale, so it's no surprise I ended up in this predicament. Also, 100% with you on jeans stretching out terribly after starting to wear them - so frustrating!

I used to do the exact same thing and have the exact same problem. Focusing on a capsule wardrobe and really trying to define my style has been so helpful. I feel the exact same. I mostly wear lounge wear type leggings and tees when relaxing and dresses when working or going out but even though I have a typical "uniform" of mostly dresses, leggings, cardigans and boots I still have too many clothes and the styles of my dresses are all over the place. I want to pair down and do a capsule but I always struggle with what to include in it....especially since I mostly work with dresses and not having to pair separates.

Always!! Also, I was wearing that dress I chose to ditch on Sunday. I caught a look of myself on the big screen when they had staff come up front and decided right then and there it wasn’t flattering. 😂
